Wish I could find an in-store mobile anywhere near me. I checked within 200 miles of New York, Philly and Washington DC - NOTHING....

Try it just listing them, and doing a search on the state... Then pick the bigger stores. That is how I found a store finally!

----------

Yep, even multiple iPads are ok. They give you a store gift card on the spot after some quick paperwork.

The do need to get into the menu to get the model number so go through the initial setup after wiping your iPad. I had a little delay as their in store wireless wasn't working and they needed to get past the iPad setup to get into the menus.

I would jump on it ASAP just in case they end the promo early. As I said in my post $200 for an iPad 1 is insane, no way they are making that back.

Thanks!

I'd go this morning but I have my first day of work.... At target no less! (pharmacy, and we don't have a mobile department in our store :( )

I'm tempted. It would be rough to be without the iPads for awhile... As in, it's 4am and I'm on mine. The kids use them for school... But I'm a single mom on a tight budget. This might be the only way I get to upgrade them too! $600 in credit is nothing to scoff at.....

Does anyone know when this promo ends?? I really want to do this or up the price on my iPad to the seller.

false ^^^^

Even the $200 special is valid until the 9th of Novermber, and the prices online do not reflect the special. you have to actually physically go in.

Again, I traded in a 1st gen 16 gig ipad WIFI only today at 11:00am, and I was handed a $200 gift card.

Promo ends on the 9th. Only guaranteed $200 gift card if you're putting it towards an iPad air.

This may or may not be true depending on what store you go to and which person is working the "trade-in" station.

When I finished trading in my ipad today, the electronics guy was tryign to sell me on some ps4 game preorders with my card.
He also asked if I wanted the Air or if I was going to wait for the retina mini

I did this yesterday.
I was amazed that I got $200 for my OG iPad.
It was still in perfect shape.
I only use it as a jailbroken device to watch NFL Sunday Ticket blacked out games.
I put it in DFU mode, wiped it and even dropped it in the original box which I still had.
I left the charger and cable in the car in case they needed it (they didn't).
That saves me around $20 on top.

I bought the Air on Saturday from the Apple Store so I had no real intention on buying one from Target.

When he asked, I said, sure I would like a 64G AT&T Silver please (knowing they didn't have it).
They will just give you a $200 GC, they don't care, as long as you are using the money at their store.

So, to clarify, you don't need to put it towards anything but a gift card.

I would have bought the Air if they actually had it, I would have saved 5% and took the other one back to Apple.

Is is $200 flat regardless of which iPad it is? Wondering how much they are paying for iPad 2 16GB with cellular.

Enter your info on this website: http://www.targettradeinprogram.com/ The promotion will bump you up to $200 if the quote is less than that.

I did an estimate for 32GB AT&T 2nd gen and it was less than $200. I don't think a $200 gift card is worth it for that though. My first gen though most definitely.

It worked great!

I traded my first gen for a White iPad Air 32 GB came out to $450.00 after taxes. They use the gift card after taxes which is ********. I got my Space Gray 128 GB for full price at the Apple Store on Friday. Gave this one to the wife to replace her iPad Mini since the new one is an acceptable weight. Also, my son inherited her iPad Mini so it allowed me to steal his my first gen back from him for the trade it. All are happy in the end. Even my daughter who inherited my mint condition iPad 3.

Ipad 2 32gig wifi black is quoted at $145.

lol, not even $200 despite the banner claim! :)
that's online...you have to go into the store for this promo.

Just go into any Target that sells cell phones, they will likely have the promo. ...if searching on that link, just look for the "Target Mobile" in the store description.
same thing here.

does this work with any target store or just the ones show up in the 'find a store' link?
I think it works with any Target that sells cell phones.

Nov. 9 (see macrumors target $200 promo post)
Hum, I can only get $65 for my iPad 1, still working, no scratches. I'll pass.
that's online...me too, but, if you go into the store, the promo is in-store only.

$200 or more...if your iPad is worth less you get $200 (until Nov. 9th), if more, then more.

I will find out tomorrow, as I will bring in my iPad 1 16GB + 3G that's only worth $65-$80 online, to Target local...I'm hoping for $200 toward iPad Mini :D

My iPad1 32GB came up as $70 and they gave me a $200 gift card as advertised, no hassles.

Anybody know if they require the power cord and adapter?

I can't guarantee but they didn't in my case.

I brought them but left it in the car.

To me, an iPad size charger is worth $20.

They never asked and I never asked if they wanted.

Check Mobility Kiosk Hours

I haven't seen this posted, so I thought I'd mention that the trade-in is done at the Mobility Kiosk, which may have different hours than the store. I stopped by a Target this morning and was told that the Kiosk at this store is only staffed from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

I did the trade in. Pretty amazing deal. And my iPad 1 had small dents on each corner.
So you get $200 credit, and then, since I decided to use it towards the 1st gen mini, that cost just $99 plus they give you another $25 target gift card for your new purchase and if you use a target CC that's another 5% off.

So I walked out w the 1st generation mini for approx $70 plus tax.

Oh, plus free downloads now of all the iWork apps, another $25 value I think

For those holding out for the retina mini, just do the trade in now and keep the credit for a few weeks until they have those in stock.

I wasn't planning on selling my ipad 1 since my kids still love it, but this was a nice cheap upgrade to make.

Even the target trade in guys were grumbling "I have no idea why target is doing this. We're just collecting iPad 1s this way"

Target's iPad trade in

Target's giving away $200 gift cards for any iPad as long as there aren't any significant scratches, and it works. I'm thinking of doing this with my gen. mini. As long as my iPad is backed up to iTunes my stuff should upload to my new iPad, right?

for me, they just took the iPad, nothing else.

yes, handled by a separate company with a separate computer that handles cell phone activations, Target employees do not have access.

______

I went to the local Target, they sell cell phones at this store, the one Target Mobile guy (handled by Brightstar Mobile out East here) had to do the trade-in (had to wait for him to get back from break), he took my iPad 1 16GB+3G AT&T, just the iPad, no charger or anything with it, gave me $200 Target gift card (took my state license/ID number down). I purchased an iPad Mini 16GB, black for the difference ($99 + tax), they gave me a $25 Target gift card with the purchase of the new iPad Mini (they're giving out $40 gift cards with the larger iPads). Easy as pie! :D (Edit: my screen was perfect, buttons all worked, but back dented and scratched, no prob.)

The guy ahead of me called ahead and reserved the last 16GB iPad Air. He too got $200 for a 16GB iPad 1. If you call, ask for the cell phone department.

You have to go to the one Target Mobile person on staff as they have a separate business that handles cell phone activations and such and that is the business buying the iPads. (They have a separate computer for this, Target employees don't have access.) He only bought the used iPad, activated and gave me the $200 gift card and sent me to Target employee to get the new iPad.

You will not find the correct price online, it's in-store only. You should be able to use the gift card for an online purchase if they don't have the iPad you want in store.

Just did it this morning. Traded my iPad 1 32 wifi+3G. Got 200 gift card.
Was quick and easy. Apple only offered me $85 last week, so glad this deal came up.
Better hurry it ends on the 9th.

Just do a backup and when you get your new one restore from backup and everything should be back the way it was.

Awesome, thanks a lot.
