Just called my local Target and the guy also told me that it's taken care of by the Target Mobile Kiosk which is open from 11am to 8pm (he said to come in by the latest as 7:30 just in case there were other people.)

He also said that this deal was so popular that they ran out of the gift cards and that I should try again tomorrow. Crazy.

I traded in my first gen. iPad this morning. I accidentally showed up before they opened, but was the first in line when the guy showed up at 11:00. Took about 10 minutes.

Also, the guy told me that I can use the $200 GC for anything in the store. He wasn't sure about on-line. One of the other people in the store said that they called a different location and were told that the GC had to be used in the Electronics Department.

Just beware that policies vary by store - check the board when you go in to see if they have posted anything different.

The store I was at yesterday had not, but was trying to say, "the email my manager sent me said this". Great, but he didn't post that up front did he?? So we can stick to the "terms" in the ad. Not my fault it was proofed in a bad way!

She was horrid about the whole thing from the get go... even the Target manager she called over just stood there not offering any input. Because the employee wasn't even pulling out the ad and trying to stick to what it said... it doesn't mention limit 1 per customer, it doesn't mention has to be used that day, doesn't mention if we are out of stock we will refuse the trade-in.

There was no positive customer service going on at that location.

Did you end up getting it? I am getting concerned because my mom has my iPad 1 and lives over an hour away so I can't even try until Saturday :/ If they don't honor it I will be very very upset.

I did get it, I traded in 2 of the iPad 1s, and turned around and used the cards on a 32gb mini I had them put on hold for me. She never even handed me the cards... because you know, I had to use them right away.

I will PM what store it was so you can avoid it..... also, call and check on stock before you go.

I tried today but they were out of the particular gift cards and refused to put it on a regular Target gift card. We also asked if we could just apply the $200 credit to a new ipad and they said no. So they said we have to come back tomorrow when they get more gift cards in.

I bit the bullet and did it. I turned in my iPad 2. Took about 5 minutes. The guy, as I was purchasing the iPad Air, picked up their promotion sign and said "huh, this says it HAS to be for a new iPad. I've just been giving them the gift card which can be used for anything."

So very YMMV.

Traded my 1st gen 32Gb iPad wifi+3G for $200 credit.

Got an iPad air for $449 at Target because the customer in front of me mentioned a price match at amazon =)

Plus, the employee threw in a free $15 iTunes card.

Plus, I applied for a target RED card and got an extra 5% off.

Out of pocket totaled to be $269 after taxes.

Well, I just tried this at my local Target here in Florida. The employee told me that they aren't giving out gift cards anymore as they don't have an actual license to buy the iPads. Said I had to buy a new iPad, I couldn't wait for the mini retina and I had to use it today. He said if I didn't want a new iPad I could use it in the electronics section only. That sucks because this is a good deal. Oh well...

I might get one for my wife tonight, but didn't see any $450 Airs on Amazon. In fact, the least expensive was $512 plus shipping. Do they actually check Amazon's site?

The good thing is I got my $200 from target. The bad thing is there are no iPad Airs to be found in the two target stores nearby, nor most of the stores I called in Houston.

Which is a shame because they are selling them at a huge discount + a gift card?

Not the Airs I'm looking at.

Sure, the 16GB Wifi only ones have a $20 discount at $479. But I'm more interested in a 32GB/Wifi+LTE iPad.

It sucks not having a tablet around. I almost want to order the 32GB/Wifi+LTE Mini 1 just so I don't have to wait.

The iPad Mini 1 and the iPad 4's do have discounts/promotions going on though. Price cuts and gift card offers ranging from $25 to $40.

I think maybe I lucked out, since amazon isn't even an authorize apple retailer (marketplace sellers sell iPads), I'm not sure if they checked the amazon site or not, I had just walked in line when the target employee was aware of the pricematch. It shouldnt be $512 lowest, the ad states they dropped it to $479.

Anyone know if Target is selling the 32GB+LTE? I assume they sell all the different models like they have in the past... their website just says "Currently unavailable online" and "Not available in stores" for the iPad Airs.

Currently looking to see if I can find anyone selling their original iPad on CL for cheap...

Oh well.... Lucky you! :D That low price of $512 was on Amazon. There's a Target about 3 miles from me, and they have Airs in stock. My wife just has to decide if 16GB is enough space. She uses tablets for work email, and streaming media. I always go for storage.....

The best bet is to buy a TRUE Target Gift Card on your way out with the electronics trade in card (just buy one for $200). They are easier to use on-line, and you can combine them with other gift cards as well for on-line purchases. It also guarantees you can use on any item in-store.

If that's all she uses it for, 16Gb is plenty. Email and streaming should take up less than 1gb lol. Only reason to go above 16gb is if she is planning to put ton of music, videos/movies, apps, and pictures on there.

So if I were to order a "sprint" Air 16 GB from Target since I got my $200 from target today, I just take it to AT&T and get a sim from them for data on the $25 1GB deal? Since verizon/AT&T are sold out? So all cellular iPads are exactly the same except for what stupid sim cad comes in it? Just replace it?

Thanks for the heads up on this offer. Just traded in my 1st gen iPad for the $200 gift card. It takes all of a few minutes to get the card. The girl said she started out with 300 GC's that morning, and was down to 10 when I went in after work around 5:30. Once the 10 are gone she is done until tomorrow, 11/9 the last day.

The back of the card says Valid Thru: 11/22, so two weeks from today.

Below that is says, Card funds never expire, after valid thru date, contact us for a free replacement card.

It also says: Redeemable for merchandise or services at any Target store in United States, or Target.com

I keeping my card until the new iPad Mini comes out.

Just got back from trading my 1st Gen iPad. Was handed one of the last two cards the guy had. The guy recognized the person behind me that got the last card, he was in yesterday trading in 2 1st gen iPads. The person behind me got pissy when the guy explained that he had to get the three he was trading in today on one card or he was out of luck. The guy taking in the trades referred to the guy behind me as 'Mr. Craiglist, after looking at the mailing package he brought his 3 iPads in with.

Seems the guy taking the trade ins was out of cards and that was all he was getting.

The guy taking the trades also claimed he heard the new minis were coming out Monday. No idea where that came from though.
