The Galaxy Nexus is plagued by some hardware fault, where it seems that 2g radios will mess with the volume, even at the boot loader stage.

Good luck!

What a massive cockup by Google/Samsung. Very interesting XDA thread.

It seems that volumegate is upon us. This certainly justfies my decision to keep my Nexus S and not upgrade. NS + ICS will do for me.

Why can't HTC make the phone like they did with the Nexus One? That device was built solidly unlike the plastic ones Samsung is churning out.

My Nexus One felt great in the hand but it did have issues. The ribon cable in the power button was prone to breakage (i had to send mine in once for HTC to fix) and the capacative touchscreen controller was a bad choice.

Whilst the Nexus S doesn't feel as nice in the hand as my N1 did, it's been more reliable for me.

True, but I'm only referring to build quality. Imagine something with the Nexus One feel but ICS and everything else perfect.

only the A5 equipped ipad2 and iphone4s are faster in benchmarks over at anandtech.

And iOS5 was bug-free on release?

Yes, the 4S and iPad 2 GPU's are smoking.

No, it has some, but I am sick of people touting the Nexus as the second coming. It will have plenty of bugs and glitches like, Froyo, etc. had.

and the Jesusphone is ok?

I'm waiting for a Galaxy Nexus. The shame is, if you'd asked me to tell you exactly what my dream HTC would have been, well.....the Rezound nails it. Tough timing, I guess.

ACTUALLY they are speculating that it is hardware related (as they often do). I've been an xda member for quite a while and this happens all the time. They speculate that it's a hardware bug, then a software gets released shortly after and all of a sudden the "hardware bug" is gone. If it were related to hardware every person would experience it, which they do not. Fact is, the majority do not. Problems with any device will always seem more widespread than they actually are when you look at a forum. The reason is because the average person doesn't go log onto xda to tell everyone their phone is working properly. This is true with any phone, be it galaxy nexus, iphone 4s, etc.

Why would you be so upset that there are people excited and enthusiastic about a phone? Did you display this same type of indifference when people were displaying their excitement about the iphone? If people want to be excited about a device, I fail to see why this should effect you in the way it obviously has. As for it having bugs any time a new OS is released there are always initial bugs...this goes for Android, iOS, webos, windows phone, etc. It's just a part of technology. Last I checked wasn't iOS just updated due to a very large bug (battery)? This is par for the course, this is the way technology works. Simple as that. In the meantime, if you don't like the nexus....I'm pretty sure nobody has a gun to your head forcing you to buy it (at least I hope not lol)...and if they do then it would seem you have bigger problems to deal with :p

Pretty good review in all honesty, but the one thing that gets me everytime I read an LTE phone review, and this is no exception is:
I will say that I have concerns about the overall battery stamina given the time I've spent with the phone thus far. It might just be that I've been putting the handset through its paces, but I've noticed a faster dip in battery life than I would like to see.

That battery thing. It's just a problem w/ current 4G chipsets, but I honestly put battery on a pretty high pedestal as what good is my phone if using it kills it constantly (unless I tether to a car charger/cable).

I'm digging the device, but until 4G/LTE issues are sorted out w/ a new generation of chips I'm staying away from 4G devices.

Nexus and ICE are definitely on the right track for Android, though. Good to see that they're making progress. I'll revisit it in a year or two when LTE/Battery equilibrium is more likely and see if I want to make another Android dive.

wow this thread is full of android fans...wondered why they are even on the iPhone forum LOL

i can't speak for everyone, but i am just a fan of tech and cool stuff.

Loved my first smartphone (iphone 3gs; only choice for me at the time as android was really bad back then), and have since moved on to Android. Still like iphones, still use and love my MBP 17, and am interested in all the ios developments and may possibly get an ipad.

Was going to get an iphone 5, and still look forward to the next release. Although the Nexus will be my next phone.

I think a better question is why some people are surprised that there are so many Android fans in a thread clearly discussing the next hottest Android phone.

From this video, it looks like the difference in the browser benchmarks shows itself in real life use as the Galaxy Nexus' browser seems to be noticeably faster than that of the iphone 4s.

eh

Browser internet viewing it is very close...sometimes the 4s is faster and sometimes the galaxy is faster. There is really not much difference. when comparing my 4s to my mates galaxy the 4s seems quicker generally going through apps, e.t.c.

However apart from speed wise it seems to me that the 4s is better in pretty much most areas IMO.

also keep in mind that these tests are done over wifi, and that the Nexus will have the 4G advantage in real life for Verizon users. Nexus is sure to gain the edge there.

Google is thief. Samsung is copycat with no shame. Android makes me puke.

Not really. Where did Apple's amazing notification system come from? Who forced them to add multitasking? Android is always ahead of iOS technology and feature :)wise, I just got fed up with the hardware quality and lack of stability, so I went to iOS.
