Well, I have a 4s and have just purchased a galaxy nexus. I fancy a change as I'm getting bored with apple ios.

However.................

I will give it a few weeks of using both then decide which one to keep.

Ive had iphones since they were released so it should be interesting. :D

I just purchased a Galaxy Nexus this evening as well. I still have my iPhone 4 with service so I'm not going to do anything with that for at least two weeks while I try out the GN.

The main reason I picked one up is that I really want an LTE phone. I've found it to be just as fast as my home wi-fi network. We'll have to see how battery life goes.

My plan if I like the Galaxy Nexus is to keep it until the next iPhone comes out next fall and if it has a bigger screen with LTE, I probably will switch back.

I am really having doubts as to whether Apple will even have LTE next year if the battery life is going to be bad. Do you really think they want to deal with the complaints? It certainly won't hurt their sales if they don't.

i have both. 4s for personal. nexus for work. I love both.

the nice thing about the nexus is you can play avi files on it. The screen is too big IMHO but it is crystal clear. the only screen I've seen that is better than the iPhone's screen. YES fanboys the nexus screen is better.

Camera? Nexus sucks. Iphone wins.
Battery? Nexus is bad. Better than all the other 4G LTE phones I've tried tho. And It's just as good as my 4S. My 4S has horrible Battery! My 4 use to get me through 6-8 hours of a work day. 4S only gets me 3-4 hours.
Call Quality? Both great. Quality is slightly better on the 4S but i never get call failed on my Nexus like on the 4S.

I’m not one to speak out much on forums, but surely do enjoy reading them regularly. I thought I would speak out on this topic, since I have both devices, and have my personal opinions of them both.

First off, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not made up to be all its hype up to be! I really don’t care about all the other "bells & whistle" that come with it, especially when the basics don’t work well!

The camera is horrible, the battery life is marginal at best, and the radio/signal reception is terrible.

I live in a very rural area, which doesn’t have 4G, and honestly doesn’t have great cellular service from any provider, but using the Nexus, I am unable to receive a cellular signal lot’s of the time, and when I do, it’s extremely weak.

Now with the iPhone 4S I find the battery life much better than the Nexus (maybe due to the Nexus always having a poor signal), and at least I can maintain a usable signal strength to make phone call without them dropping out.

The iPhone software is much more fluid (smooth) than the newly released ICS.

I’m not one to carry my device on my belt or on a holster, but rather in my pocket, and the Nexus is quit big stuffed in the front pocket of your jeans.

Maybe eventually Google/Verizon will get the bugs out of the Nexus, and make it a more consistent stable device, but until then, my iPhone 4S is and will be my daily user!

Matt

Finally tried the Galaxy Nexus out. Firstly, Ice Cream Sandwich is stupendous! Very clean, polished, capable OS. Secondly, the display is simply stunning. Lacks several things, true but overall we can see Android's future. And I can't wait to see what Galaxy S III is going to be like.

Will switch to Verizon 4S

Great answers to Nexus v iP4s. I appreciate all the discussion. I have decided on iP4S until there is a LTE, larger screen iP5/6. I really don't want to have to learn a new OS for a year. A couple of questions.

1. Do I just need a backup of the iP4 then go to install the iP4S?
2. Is there a link to how to truely nuke the old iP4 before selling or trading it in?

:)

I purchased a GSM Galaxy Nexus to replace my iPhone 4, and I really wanted to make it my primary phone, but I just couldn't do it. ICS is truly amazing and ahead of iOS in many ways. Apple needs to do a lot of work to iOS in my opinion. However, it was the hardware and practicality that led me to return the Nexus and go back to the iPhone 4. I couldn't get over using a 4.65" screen, I like being able to operate my phone in one hand. Also, the screen looks really weird when the brightness is low. There's no Android replacement for the seamless integration of iCloud with all my other Apple products.

ICS is amazing and the Nexus is an impressive phone that will make plenty of people happy, it just wasn't for me. It's really stupid to argue about which phone or which OS is better, they both have their fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Here's to hoping that iOS 6 and the next iPhone blow us all away.

I bought the gsm Nexus.

Screen was nice and big. I liked the SIZE better.
Quality of screen was worse than iphone 4s. It seemed dim and dull.
ICS is nice looking but it is fundamentally the same as Android 2.x version.

I made the mistake of rooting it to flash all the Roms and baseband versions. There was not one radio/rom configuration to get the same ping and speedtest results as my 4s.

I do miss the bigger screen but the iphone came out the winner for me. To be honest I got sick of all the rooted customization. Iphone releases keeps my OS upgrading addiction at bay

I could care less about the android fans vs. apple blah blah blah

For me iphone won...unfortunately - because i wanted a bigger screen

I wanna see too !!! :)
My eyes r good enough to get around my day without glasses, but not good enough to surf the web on my iphone - THAT, is really the only dissapointment I have with the 4s, that it wasn't at least enlarged to 4"
Next year they will do it, but everyone will be like .... big flippin' deal -

When you can consider the Galaxy Nexus phone as nothing all that great and still think the 4S screen is so much sharper and better, then you have reached a whole new level of blind loyalist.

It's interesting that Apple may add face-recognition features, presumably to unlock the phone, in a future iOS update. They filed for the patent before Google did it. Will the feature no longer be considered a gimmick?

Galaxy Nexus with its PenTile screen is far behind the sharpness and clearity of 4S' gorgeous screen.

If it actually works, then yes, it won't be a gimmick. The rumor is that it will also be used to switch user profiles.

Anyway, once "Majel" is released, will Android fans stop calling Siri a gimmick?

The patent has nothing to do with facial recognition or security.
It's for lower power detection of the presence of a certain color in front of the camera for a determined period of time.
Leave it to MR to twist the story into something it really isn't.

Siri is a gimmick. A gimmick that is still considered a beta. A sad gimmick, that unfortunately, Android is also trying to go for.

I kinda agree with this.^ It's faster to press a button or two to call a person then talk to your phone and tell the phone to do it.

Siri is only probably useful when you're hands are busy, like when you're running, driving, and putting on clothes.

It shouldn't be used unless you're hands are busy.

Just curious. What do Android uses do for audio docking systems?

I have this wonderful sounding Klipsch system for my iPhone (http://www.klipsch.com/igroove-sxt-ipod-speaker-system).

Works with all my ipods, and other generation iPhones.

What options do Android hardware have? Just the audio port or usb port and a cable? So many different phones out there.

Walking through stores, I really do see the clocks/speaker docs/audio systems for Android.

Idk. Another advantage of the Apple pin and hardware designs.

I have the Galaxy Nexus. There is no lag. Apps open as quick if not quicker than the 4s and the browser is definitely a touch quicker. The battery isn't quite as good however, particularly with heavy screen usage. But that's understandable given the difference in size and resolution. The sacrifice is well worth it for me, and I still easily get through the day on one charge.

And 35Mbps sec over VZW LTE in Cali is Awesome!
Still got my iphone 4 but the GNex is definately a better device!

You obviously have no clue what you're talking about. Obviously the statement of someone who has no experience with the device. Do you even know what the significance of pentile is? Well let me help you, there is no screen door effect on the GNex's screen, so the fact that you even brought up pentile shows that you have no clue what you're talking about, and just regurgitating information you read somewhere without any real knowledge on how it applies in the real world. Try again.

Android has been using google talk for what feels like years now. It's not so person assistant like but it works about the same.

I've had decent luck with Siri and as an avid android forum follower (androidcentral, xda, xoomforums) I feel apple users call Siri a gimmick and useless much more then Android users. There are two threads in this forum going currently talking about the uselessness of Siri. That says something when the people that have it consider it worse then android fanboys do....

Both have there pros and cons. The gnex is a much more powerful device even without rooting.

The 4s is a very stable device with less software issues. This is important obviously. I use my 4s for work and don't have time for signal issues and battery pulls and etc.

Maybe once some issues are taken care of (battery life, signal strength, random reboots, low volume, etc) then I'll pick one up off contract.

I much prefer the gnex's hardware on all fronts besides the camera.

To continue. I do think it's funny when some post a thread like "what do you hope for in the iPhone 5".

Then all I see listed is things android phones already have.

Just an observation.

While the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have the screen door effect that lower resolution Pentile screens did, it still doesn't match the sharpness of an RGB display at the same DPI.

I had the Galaxy Nexus for a week and I could tell that text wasn't as sharp as it is on my iPhone. I also compared it to the Rezound at the store and noticed that the Rezound was better when it come to viewing text. I wouldn't say that the Galaxy Nexus was "far behind," but there was clearly a difference between the two display types. The Galaxy Nexus just wasn't as sharp and clear as a similar sized LCD screen at the same resolution. I'm assuming that was because of it being Pentile and not RGB.

One thing that annoys me about Super AMOLED is that white never looks white. White looks dirty/dingy. This seems to be a problem with all versions of Samsung AMOLED. And then there is the issue with over saturated colors.

I long for an HD RGB AMOLED with true white and accurate colors.

That's the first time I've heard that. From my experience Android users bash Siri much more often and without ever having used it.
