Here's Multi View on the ATT GN2 running a custom ROM ported from TMO GN2 & Int GN2 LTE. Modified MV w/ unlimited apps lets you add as many apps as you want to the Multi-View Pane compared to the stock one which only has a selected few apps & doesn't let you add the apps you want.

I thought this was a cool idea till I tried it out. Look how little information is on each screen. Scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll...juts to read one post lol

I just tried this and AT&T didn't go for it :(

Try multiple times until you get a rep that does, this is the advice I've read on the internet. It might take 4 or more tries. I didn't know about this and bought it for $299 over a week ago, but I'm okay with that.

Here's how a bunch of us did it on XDA but basically what you said.

Yeah, it does lose it's appeal but helpful in certain situation. I don't use it all the time but I use it here & there.

Some people might not have success getting the phone for $199 but I've read how other people kept calling in and got $100 credit towards their next bill. Just have to speak to the right person (I usually have success with cancellation dept). If the rep says no after a couple requests, just thank them for their time and try another.

Some are getting the note 2 for $100 after billing credits.

I just made one phone call to get the $199 price. Wasn't trying 3 or 4 times.

I thought I wasn't qualify for an upgrade for another few months.

They told me I wasn't qualify to upgrade to an iPhone 5, but I'm qualify for other smartphones. Seems they have more leeway with non-iPhone smartphones.

I asked about the galaxy s3 and galaxy note 2. Took the offer on the note 2.

Should be here in a few days.

Taken from another thread. Seems useful in this situation:

I should be able to replace galaxy s voice with google now right?

Read reviews on the galaxy s voice and general consensus is that it's no where as good as google now.

This is my situation.

I have a few months to go for full upgrade but they are willing to give me the ok for an early upgrade. However I was not able to get both the upgrade and the discount.

I've been with AT&T since 2007, or the first iPhone. That's over 5 years with them. Not sure if that matters.

Looks like you already have a Note 2 though.

I've been with them since 1997 so that should not be a factor.
I already have the Note II but I need another one for my wife.
She wants the big screen of the Note and get rid of her iPhone 4S.

Not sure if you spoke with Customer Service or Customer Retention. You might want to try Customer Retention by selecting cancellation from the phone menu.

Tell them you want to know what the cancellation procedures are.

You are a long time customer. I'm sure they'll do their best to keep you as a customer.

Yes, try retentions. Depending on who you speak to, they'll offer to give you credit WITHOUT even upgrading just to try and keep you happy. They offered to give me free texting for 6 months and $40 credit, no strings attached.

Not sure how it works in the U.S but here retentions have more leeway to negotiate then the normal upgrades department.

Watching live streamed TV, while browsing the web without any slowdown, pretty damn awesome i say.

My friend's less than 2 week old Note 2. He had the official flip case but I guess that doesn't really provide much protection.

Same thing happened to my first GS3 when I dropped it.

Maybe I should get insurance.

I had an iPhone 4 and currently a iPhone 4S with glass front/back. I might have accidentally dropped it 3 or 4 times, but only from like 2 or 3 ft high usually onto carpet. Never had an issue and still looks brand new.

I never broken a smartphone since I got my first iPhone back in 2007.

But since the Note 2 is so huge, it might just slip out of my hands.

I don't see the split screen option on my Note 2.

I only have pop-up windows for viewing video or webpages.

Whether it's worth it or not to get insurance you will have to decide. My friend is a bit clumsy but I still don't think the GS3 and Note 2 are that durable in terms of handling falls on hard surfaces.

When you open the multiview app list try and drag one of the apps to the bottom or top of the screen and see if that works. Do this while you're already in an app that supports split screen (all apps in the multiview list)

Edit: to access the multiview app list make sure it's on in the settings and press and hold the back button anywhere to get a small semicircle on one of the screens edges, left or right. Tap that.

Is it weird to say I like the feel of the glass on the Note 2?

I think it feels better than the iPad Mini screen. The iPad Mini glass feels cheap.

In the US, I think only Sprint has gotten the update so far for the split screen.

That cracked Note II looks awful. I like the idea of the flip cover but it provides no protection at all. The only cases I'd consider using must have protection for the sides and a small lip for the front glass.

Oh I wasn't aware of that. My friend has the international Note 2.

Yeah you're right I don't think it offers much protection either other than preventing scratches to the screen. One thing I noticed though, is that the back cover on the flip cover is thicker and much harder to get off.

Hmm... my Note 2 doesn't like WiFi or something. It keeps turning my WiFi off on its own. I've been using my LTE data all this time.

Stays on WiFi for less than 1 minute and decides to shut it off. Is this a battery saving feature or something? Rebooting doesn't fix it. Maybe it just doesn't like the Wifi in my office.

Damn it. WTH!!

----------

Crap. Wifi keeps shutting off everytime I turn it on.

Hmm..

Does it shut off while the screen is on? If it happens when the phone is off, that's normal.

It shuts off when I'm using my phone.

It shuts off when I'm trying to enter my Wifi password.

It shuts off when I was trying to run speedtest.

It doesn't remember my Wifi password.

I get a pop up that says "Wifi Powering off" sometimes.

It goes on/off by itself for no reason.

After 3 reboots, it seems to be working again.

Weird.
