First picture I've seen of wireless charging. Looks like we'll probably have to buy a separate kit for it..

Luckily I returned my s4. I'm going to wait to see what apple unveils on tuesday before i choose which phone to get. I'm definitely leaning towards the note 3 as of now though

If I'm deciding to buy a new Samsung smartphone soon, how would one choose between the S4 and the Note 3? Like what do most people think sets both models apart? Just want to know general feedback...

Depends how big you want your phone and how much you value the s pen

Battery life will be better on more 3 and has a few more features due to the s pen.

I'm a single line and my contract was up. Just told them I've been looking at other carriers and T-Mobile offers an unlimited minutes, texts, data plan for $70 and I'm thinking about switching. Then I ask if they have any deals or promotions available that would help offset the higher costs of AT&T.

What they'll do is usually try to offer you a lower/cheaper minute, text, data plan but I tell them I want to keep my plan the same. I then follow it up with, would you be able to offer any type of credit towards my future bills and they're usually helpful with that.

(If you're on a family plan, ask if they're willing to offer free text messaging for 6 months, that should save you a bit of money).

If you get someone who isn't helpful, just thank them for their time and call again later.

On a side note, just chatted with AT&T customer service and wasn't able to get the $36 upgrade fee waived but he credited me $36 towards my next bill. Good enough!
How'd you get the Note 3 for that cheap?

I see. 5.7" seems to large for comfort, but I guess I'll test it out for myself when the phone is available. Note 3 also seems more rectangular than Note 2...

Note 3 is lighter and thinner than the Note 2 but you might have to feel it first.

Just been on mobile fun. Co. UK and the Note 3 S view cover is costing £49.99..not cheap

That protective cover looks much nicer, than the faux leather. However, I want to get a nice leather folio like the Samsung branded one for this phone.

I really really like the Note III, but that faux leather back...

If I ever get a Note, it'll definitely be in a case.

The battery technology thing improving fast is very intriguing. Someone posted about LG G2 having the best battery in anandtech tests among phablets and supposedly without bloatware, Nexus 5 will have still more battery power due to it being based on G2.

This battery thing will make anyone having any smartphone feel outdated in a year. A year from now, any phone you purchase now will be left behind in battery life tests when compared to new phones. I feel people will be satisfied with display, quad core and ram for 2 years of current flagship phones(atleast ill be- 1080p is enough) but this battery improvement thing will make phone enthusiasts consider a new phone even if their current phone will be just 1 year old.

Nexus 5 is supposed to have a significantly smaller battery according to the other thread.

Another thing is assuming that "bloat" has a negative effect on battery. The TW roms on my GS4 last longer than my current GE ROM.

Wow, thanks for the video. Samsung is stepping it up tremendously with the Note 3. The only maker constantly pushing the bar these days.

- the flip wallet is a fantastic idea. they should have had this a long time ago. I can finally throw my MBTA card into the slot and tap; for when I'm not using the car

- S View cover finally has apps and shortcuts. This was missing on the GS4. The brown one would look AWESOME with a black GN3. That would be my combo. The novelty of the S View wore off on my GS4, but with the GN3, it looks like it will actually be useful.

- Looks like Sammy is finally combining the wireless charging with the S View cover. A common issue brought up on XDA.

----------

i really like the look of those window cases but wonder how much protection it actually offers to the phone for drops and such?
].

It doesn't have any protection. I had it on my GS4 and I would put my phone in the cupholder in the car. Eventually the bottom "metal" band got scuffed a little. Another issue was the cheap feel of the case and price. Looks like the leather cover on the Note fixes one problem, but I wouldn't be surprised with the Note 3's S View cover is $70-80.

That's why I got rid of the case and picked up the Spigen Neo Hybrid. Amazing quality, good price, durable.

I hope they make one for the GN3.

Anyone else annoyed that Samsung isn't adapting Qi completely and just keeps making these stupid charging kits that you can't buy anywhere?

Qi would truly take off if Samsung started selling every phone with it. No one is going to drop ~$75 for the kit.

got to admit i'm in two minds wether to stick with the black S view cover or go for brown too....brown would be a nice change.

I agree. I'm a fan of the brown leather, but it looks like the S View cover with wireless charging will only come in black. Why not a brown one? :(

My contract ended so called the cancellation department and negotiated to try and get discounts and credit towards future bills. Also receive 20% discount on upgrades through my company.

If you're contract is up and you're upgrading, try calling cancellations. The two most common things they offer is free text messaging for 6 months or $20 credit towards your bill for 3 months.

Has anyone that's in the states preordered that is buying this off contract? I get mixed answers when it comes to buying off contract day 1.

Thanks, ill try that. My contract is almost up (mine started when the 4S came out. It's cool it lets you get a discounted upgrade. I have an AT&T Premier account and will see what options I have. I hope all goes well. Wish me luck! :)
