My note2:

Display is horrible in the sun.

Touch wiz doesn't bother me at all, though I'm not sure what a pure android experience is.

Speakers are so so...

Battery life is amazing

It is an amazing phone and I can't wait for note 3...

I am 90% about to preorder a verizon one tomorrow. I am torn between the white and black color. I am leaning more towards the white based on the screenshot pictures. I have been non stop researching this phone for the last few days since the iphone 5s announcement and I am way more excited about the note 3.

I am going to take some time to read through all the posts here because I am now hearing horrible things about the touchwiz interface. I currently have a iphone 4s but I am techie and and I want to follow where I feel the excitement is at. Watching the note 3 demo video just left me feeling like wtf when can I do all that stuff on my iphone. I feel like I am missing out staying with apple.

My questions: How is the touchwiz interface ? How bad is the display in the sun? What do the speakers sound like(they look small and in an odd place)? Any Solid battery specs ?(I have struggled to find the chart that they showed during the unbox event video)

My experience with the Note 2 has been:

How is the touchwiz interface ?
It is very ugly. It carries a lot of the bad skuemorphic cues from iOS and the icons look like knockoffs. A lot features, though most are good ideas that are half-baked, but some of those features really add to experience. Performance is fine though. Stock android and sense 5 are much better.

How bad is the display in the sun?
Here in sunny Florida, I couldn't use my phone at all in direct sunlight as the screen was completely unviewable. The Note 3 is suppose to be much better in this regard, but can't comment because I don't have one yet.

What do the speakers sound like(they look small and in an odd place)?
The speakers were ok, average for a smartphone, but not as loud and clear as the HTC One or even the iPhone. The Note 3 is again suppose to improve on this, with the speaker on the bottom like the iPhone, so we shall see.

Any Solid battery specs ?
Battery life on the Note 2 was very good, on par with my iPhone and best I have ever had on an Android phone. Note 3 is supposed improve on this as well, so you shouldn't have to worry about this.

Seems to be one of biggest downsides of AMOLED

God yes Touchwiz needs a mammoth redo. To make things worse each new feature they add - adds another different set of GUI aesthetics. There is NO cohesion aesthetically throughout.

My S4 lasts all day pretty much I will be interested how much juice I get out of the note 3.

I'm not sure...if I should get black or white. I SWORE my next phone (5S or something) would be white.

But....

The damn Black on the Note looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Nice! I'm mad! I'm hoping it looks worse in person! Reminds me of fond memories of my Samsung Vibrant (which I still have).

I have a white S3, and a white 3rd ten iPad, but I'll get a black Note 3. I'd love a metallic gray one though.

love the new look of it. can't wait to get it in my hands.

I have a white iPad and a white S3 but going black as well.

After the S3 I said I would never own a white phone again as it just looks cheap over time. My own fault though as I dont use cases with my phone lol.

I for sure will place a case on the Note though but not sure which one as of yet.

so AT&T is charging a $36 "upgrade" fee, do they charge again to "activate" the new phone later?

BTW, here is an unboxing video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0md66EyZHjg#t=164

Just go chat with online support and ask them to waive or credit the upgrade fee as a one time courtesy. Worked each time I've upgraded.

If they say no, I just tell them I'm a long time customer, pay bills on time. Didn't need ATT's help upgrading and once the phone arrives, I call in and activate the phone myself. So I don't see any reason I should have to pay it.

If they still say no, thank them for their time and move on to the next rep.

tried and got shot down as the upgrade fee is mandatory in order to provide me with an excellent price on the upgrade... will try again...

Tell that rep to **** and that you committing to a two year contract is what provides you with an "excellent" price. jk..

Did you ask for $36 credit towards your next bill? They seem to be more willing to that then to waive the fee.

Good to see more cases and chargers being available on mobile fun.

Want to buy a charging dock so it stands up at night.

Just got excited as an order status email came through from ATT...only to put on a pouty face as i read further:(

"due to high demand, your device is not yet available for shipment. as soon as your order is ready you will receive an email with your shipping and tracking information"

checked order status and it still says 9/11-9/13. Silly ATT

I almost pulled the trigger, and preordered today. But I think I'll just hold off. and buy in store since no one seems to be getting them early.

Has an ones note 3 shipped? I wonder if it was a glitch and we all have to wait for the 1st. My gf is getting my note 2 and her iPhone 4 is on its last legs. Could use it sooner
