note 3 speaker on the bottom this time! finally, no more sealing off the ringer when laying the phone on its back

Can't wait for some in depth reviews of the Note 3.

The Note 10.1 looks interesting.

Pass on the watch.

Also, Samsung has the worst presentations..

Man that watch is getting mixed reviews thus far.....

Engadget:

"We haven't been blown away by any smartwatch's performance, and that's much the case here. The Gear feels awfully sluggish, whether you're launching an app such as Evernote or Path, or swiping down from the home screen to activate the camera."

The Verge:

"There are a couple of significant downsides that temper my enthusiasm for the new Gear. First and foremost is the speed and intuitiveness of the user interface — or rather, the lack thereof. There's a tangible lag to anything you do with the Gear, while the swipe gestures are hard to figure out and do different things depending on where you are in the menus."

Samsung released the Gear SOLELY so they could be FIRST......wonder what Apple is thinking right now.

The note 3 will be my next phone.

The Note 10.1 is on my radar. Why name it the same?

The watch says "I'm a nerd". Apple's can't be as gaudy!

how is that mixed? Every review I have seen says it lags really bad.

Thank god for third party launchers.... :) (though they can not solve the whole GUI problem - they go some way)
Yeah. Without Nova Prime I would never be using my Note 2. But as soon as I open S-Note, my stomach still turns lol.

As for the Note 3 itself, I probably won't be able to keep myself from getting it. Gotta love that improved screen with no increased width of the device itself (seemingly just a tad taller, which I can easily live with). I'll be ripping that fake leather back off faster than you can say "skeumorphic" though. That was a weird idea.

The watch...I'd have gone for a slightly more inconspicuous design. Fine if they can't get it smaller, but a less stand-out alternative to that shiny bezel would have been nice. Matte black or at least a darker tint of metal. And hopefully someone comes up with an alternative skin for the software...

I only posted the negatives lol - mixed because people are tempering expectations because its a 1.0 product.

Still - a laggy watch that shows notifications and accesses watered down versions of about 70 apps that I would much rather access on my Smartphone?

See one of my earlier posts here that talks about what a TRUE smartwatch should accomplish. Obviously, a first gen product won't hit all those but I prefer a company to wait and at least be able to offer some NEW functionality with their first iteration.

yeah, reviews aren't hot. Maybe I'll wait for Apple to show off their watch before I decide.

Probably, "hahahahaha" :p

Ya....I think it kinda goes to show exactly how much other companies fear/respect Apple. Samsung could very easily have waited, refined their design and added some cool new features to make the watch worthwhile....

But then they'd have to contend with whatever Apple will be releasing in the next year or so.....and it seems they feel they have a better shot claiming FIRST than going head-to-head with Apple in the market.

FYI - if Apple releases an equally iterative product.....I'll be upset too. I'm expecting Apple to wait until they release the iWatch with at least ONE mind-blowing feature/use. Not expecting them to include everything I mentioned earlier, but if they pull the same stunt as Samsung, I'll be equally as underwhelmed and won't buy it.

The Note 3 is a bit smaller than the Note II, 79.2 vs 80.5 mm.

Your previous post had me more excited about a smart watch than anything I have read about them haha.

This will most likely be my next phone unless someone releases something that can top it.

Most likely. If anything, I think Samsung just boosted the initial sales of the iWatch by a ton. Everyone's going to love the concept but hate the looks of the Gear, and then Apple just steps in to relieve all that frustration.

A lot of what I posted i read in an article from a former Apple Engineer.....can't remember his name and I read the article in a thread on here so I don't have a link.....

It was cool stuff. I'm a fan of watches, so if Apple can offer a watch that does something neat, I'll buy it eventually. But the stuff he suggested sounded unbelievably awesome.

And of course - Apple's design aesthetic should translate extremely well into a smart watch. Thinking along the lines of a high-tech Skagen.

EDIT: Found the link! He was a Human Interface Developer.
