Was thinking the same too actually :) Which is strange as I prefer the White S4 over the Mist Grey S4, but here on the Note 3 I much prefer the black and think the white looks wrong somehow ....

how long before a third party copies it and brings the faux leather back to the S4 (or even samsung themselves please).

No mention of Wireless Charging for the Note 3 ????? Anyone seen anything ?

Ya, I'm not hating on you for liking it :) I think what they're aiming for is a more "notebook" feel, also with the little ridges on the sides to resemble pages. That they're offering pink as one of their three base colors also speaks to that effect maybe.

Ah, I didn't even think about that. Makes sense.

For me, though, it reminds me of an old 50's style car than an actual notebook. Heh.

So far what I like best is:

Action Memo - quick notes to jot down a phone number + name is still what I use the pen most to do, having handwriting recognition to add that info straight into contacts or call the person etc. is awesome.

Scrapbook - I love how you can access the website where you got a saved bit from in the first place. Also, great to have all this searchable through the new S Finder.

Dislike:

Air Command - a nice idea, but that tiny button on the S-Pen is so freaking hard to use. I wish they had implemented something like a double tap with the pen to access that feature, which otherwise seems quite useful.

Until you actually touch it... :D

Yeah that's true :D ...... Won't know until we get it in our own hands. :)

Would definitely have to see one in person though before I'd commit to getting one. I wish the stylus had pressure sensitivity too like a wacom digitizer. As it stands it may be just another feature on a samsung phone that I never actually use - making it pretty redundant for me.

Am I the only one that thinks the faux leather back is a bit cheesy? It doesn't really matter for me though because I will end up using a case....

Yeah but a double tap might be too imprecise of someone is writing or sketching so a button press is probably safest way of avoiding inadvertent launching of air-command

I think it's gross. If I wanted leather, I'd get a real leather case. :D

Could be. But have you ever used an S-Pen? Every time I try to use that button I have to shuffle the damn pen around in my hand for a few seconds to even locate the button, then when I try to push it the pressure comes in evenly from all fingers and it hardly gets pressed at all, or I lose the pressure on it after a moment........it's a mess IMO.

One solution might be to have the pen be pressure sensitive all around, so you can just squeeze it from any direction to get the button press.

Actually the S-pen for the Note 2 had 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, this one is likely the same or with even better sensitivity.

I think the faux leather is a marked improvement over last model's high gloss cheap feeling rear panel. What I'm not a fan of is the camera hump.

Regardless, after my experience using a Note II I know this isn't the type of device that hits my sweet spot. Glad to see others are finding it a worthy upgrade though.

I'm sure there will be plenty of third party back-case makers that'll fulfill your glossy plastic needs, too.

Don't forget, the leather back is still removable.

By the way...

Where's the One Max? Wasn't it supposed to be announced today too?

Was there anyone else really looking forward to this only to be turned off? I went from an iPhone 4 at launch to Galaxy S3 at launch. Just sold my S3, and was going to go either Note 3 or 5s. But this just feels like more Samsung junk.

Multivision is a great example. Super awesome tech/marketing. But will anyone ever really use it? That goes for 90% of the S3 'advantages' I fell for.

The hardware looks great IMO, but it seems like Samsung just packs junk on top of junk that seems cool but is really worthless. If the iPhone 6 had this body I would be super happy.

Nope. The Note 3 is a bigger improvement over the Note II compared to what the 5S will be over the 5 (based on rumors of course). Don't want a gold iPhone or a plastic yellow or green one.

Would love the better screen. Do not like the look of new S-Pen even though they solved the loading problem. Feel like the ergonomics wont be as good... really not digging the leather back, the sticking or the "pages" band or the camera hump/look. Overall the aesthetics for this device just don't do it for me.

I do not think I will be upgrading this time.

i hope the screen performs better in sunlight, the note 2 is barely OK, my wife's S4 is better, but both compare poorly to our old iphone 5...
