You found the iPhone 5s camera that much better? I have been using both. The Note 3 seems much better in good lighting and with video (the video clarity on the Note 3 is phenomenal). The iphone5s takes the better low light pictures.

Colors are not as accurate on the N3 and the white balance is usually off. You have to hold it VERY steady or you get blur in pics not in bright sunlight. Video is a bit choppy when panning around (a huge issue every Android phone suffers) and the sound in the videos is not nearly as rich and clear as it is on the 5s. The one place the N3 does excel is all the modes and ability to manual control many settings.

What's everyone else's battery life like? I use my phone during the day for about 4-5 hours of screen time and by the time i go to bed its normally on around 30%.

But most of that 5 hours is spent browsing the web in Chrome. Chrome is always 2nd on the list of things draining the battery, after the screen.

Is it? The stock browser drains it quick too.

I use chrome now.

I normally get 5-6 hours screen time but today I'm on 3 hours 22 mins with 13% left but the battery is 1 day, 2 hours so far.

Have you tried the video "smooth" mode on the Note 3? My results in that mode are stunning. I have never had phone video look so good on our HDTV. My wife's 5s can not compare. Also found the audio to be great in the video recording. Very full and rich. Me and my wife have a routine. She takes the low light pictures with the 5s. I take the good light pics and videos.

I did not try that out. Guess I should have dug a bit deeper thru the menus!

Recorded sound on the Samsung is better on Video due to its ability to capture stereo sound. The iPhone reverts to mono.

Just got one of the Spigen cases. It was going for $9.99 on Amazon.

I hate it.

Phone feels so heavy now compared to naked and the back is even more slippery making me want to drop it more than before.

I will keep it on for a while as the lack of good cases for this phone is astonishing.

So I'm on my second Note 3, returned the first one to Verizon due to the boot-looping issue reported on here and other Android sites. This one, once I got everything loaded, started spontaneously crashing again, requiring a battery pull to get it back up again. Even doing the three-button thing won't bring it back to life. Plugging it into a power supply, however, will.

This is clearly some sort of conflict between loaded apps, configured settings and possibly firmware. Just to try and keep it clean and simple for troubleshooting, I've left the SD card out of this device from the moment I obtained it. So as of now, its stock other the apps I've loaded.

What is the suggested approach for manually troubleshooting the culprit app? I'm starting to understand that once you get outside of the general questions on feature/functionality, app interoperability/conflicts is no-mans' land given the way Play store works.

Ideas or suggestions? I've tried installing a couple of memory mappers, but I can't really be sure they themselves aren't causing the problem.

Which case? I got the bounce case and even though its really thin, my phone is now feels thicker and bigger than last year with a case on. Probably has to do with the square shape and less curves.

Uggh, I ordered 2 cases off Amazon yesterday, seeing how nobody around town wants to stock up on anything but those silly s view cases.

One of them was a slim spigen case and the other, a bulky heavy duty monstrosity I know I'll need for work.

Ordered both in red

I upgraded my no-name $6 case to a black/red Spigen Neo Hybrid a few days ago.
The case + phone feels too damn heavy now and the additional weight takes some getting used to. But on the plus side, the case looks good, and may actually protect the phone. So, I might keep it after all.

does the neo hybrid make the phone more slippery? that seem to be one of the complaints, that and the added bulk...i'm currently using a Supcase and i'm really liking it because the side is much more grippy...the back of the supcase, however, is slippery hard plastic but i don't ever hold it that way

I ordered the Spigen Bounce case. I still haven't received it almost 3 weeks later. According to the tracking, it took 2 weeks just to get out of California. I'm so used to carrying this phone naked that I might not even want the case when it finally gets here. I hope this case doesn't add too much bulk. My other option is the Diztronic matte black thin tpu case.

That's a long time. I ordered from Amazon and got it in 2 days.
I like the case, but it does make it thicker than when I had the S-View case on it.

The I Blason case is utter crap. The silicone is extremely inferior and the way the outer shell fits you will have the right corner exposed to damage. Terrible design.

I would start with a factory reset. Then load my core apps. Run it for a day or two then start loading the rest gradually over a week or two.

You can also try running it in safe mode for a couple of days to make sure that it is not a hardware issue.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sending it back as soon as it gets here. I was hoping for complete protection and it was the only one that looked halfway decent. Was the added bulk also unbearable?

I really don't want to put the otterbox defender on it, I know the added bulk will make it super heavy.

It adds quite a bit of bulk but far less than an Otterbrick will.

Perhaps the red uses better silicone but the black is terrible...as loose as a latex balloon.

Did a Factory reset on phone 1 several times, and twice already on phone 2. Doesn't seem to help.

How do I boot into safe mode?

How do I boot into safe mode?

Reboot your phone. As it boots up, hold down the volume down button.

This is on my S4. Likely the same on the Note.

Safe mode on a smartphone....smells like Windows.

So this boots with what enabled vs disabled?

Thanks, in safe mode now.

Thanks, in safe mode now.

Safe mode disables all user apps and runs with just the factory installed apps. Useful to determine software vs hardware issues.
