Can you try unchecking Samsung keyboard and see if it comes back?

Maybe my long press delay setting on the google keyboard is too short. And that's why I'm getting these "phantom" long presses. It was set at 210 MMS. Gonna change it to 260. See if that helps.
OK I'll give it a try now.....

How quickly would it nag you to come back. I'm running Google keyboard now and not getting the return to Samsung keyboard here.

The funny thing about it is I just wrote a post about me praising the S6 and really started playing with it beside my 6+ and realized that I still like my iPhone a lot better. Yeah the S6 takes stunning pics but so does the iPhone. And yes even though TouchWiz is a lot faster, I still think iOS has it beat on straight out fluidity.

Might be returning the S6 tomorrow back to AT&T. Will miss out on $35 for restocking but I can live with that.

According to some you're deciding to keep a mid tier phone that feels like it's 5 years old lol

Not sure. Just randomly comes back. I just notice the top left corner of your screen on the notification bar that it'll have that little icon for "select keyboard". That's how I know its back. Cause for that icon to be there two keyboards must be enabled.

Mid tier phone lol. Okay. And it doesn't feel like it's 5 years old at all actually. I am not a fan boy of any sort because I have both android and iOS devices but I still feel the 6 plus is a beast of a phone and I personally have no downfalls about it. S6 battery I can already tell was going to be horrible. I may need a few days with it but I wasn't wowed by it like everyone seem to have been.

Now that I've made long press duration a little longer I'm not noticing the space bar phantom long press anymore.

I hope to gos that's the culprit.

However even so the Samsung keyboard should remain disabled if you've disabled it or unchecked it. Not sure if it's a bug or just Samsung trying to be sneaky.

What is your long press duration MRU?

That's always there when there is more than one keyboard installed even on my Nexus 6 & Moto X 2014

As long as it's not auto selecting Samsung keyboard then it isn't doing anything abnormal there.

Okay much longer than what I had. I was at 210. I feel better now. I'm at 260 now. Noticing no phantom long presses so far. That's probably what it was. Sorry for the drama and thanks MRU for the help.

Edit: finger print sensor still unreliable and the back button placement still sucks though. :p

Just ignore the snide remarks. .

Is black and white the only colors available? What happened to the nice topez?

It seems to be rolling out later than the other colours. Seems the initial production run are in the more regular colours.

Gold, White & Black.

Topaz Blue for S6 and Emerald Green for S6e are only trickling out at the moment.

Really enjoying the gold color of this device.

Does it look as silver as it appears in some images/videos under certain light? :)

Actually doesn't thankfully. Not even when outside. It has to be a very direct light hitting it to be silvery.

The device is gorgeous and the color is great. Software... Not so thrilled about.

My only knocks against the hardware are the unreliable finger print scanner and the stupidly placed back button. These two are almost deal breakers. I have to see in the next few days how I feel. The home button is used constantly and to have to hit a physical home button sucks. I've gotten to really like on screen buttons on my one plus. The physical button requires an actual push. I could forgive this if the finger print scanner was more reliable but its not. So what do I want it for?

As for the back button... All I can say about that is just Ughhhh. Don't know why it's where it is. Just to be different? Baffles me. It makes the back button so uncomfortable to use. It sits really low so your thumb has to do some insane bending to hit it. Just tiring.

I know your try out a lot of phones. If you return the S6 will you try the HTC M9? Would be great to have your impressions on that.

It is in the same location on all samsung phones. I actually love the back button. When i switch back to the iphone i find myself hitting the spot where the back button would be. For me it is so much easier to use my thumb and hit back than regular app menus arrows. Maybe put a case on it and will better fit your hand?

Unlikely. I think sense is an even uglier take on lollipop. Their ui changes are down right hideous. You ever see their quick toggle menus in the pull down shade? Atrocious. Dislike that their app drawer scrolls up and down instead of side way pages too.

Also... That camera.... Can't trust it.

However I can appreciate everyone liking sense for its light under the hood performance. Touchwiz lags maybe not as apparently as before but there are slight under the hood things that just makes the device hang here and there.

I will probably go back to the one plus one and await future phone... Still, now that I've had a tastes of better form factor and things like headphone jack back at the bottom, it brings out the things I dislike about the one plus even more... Argh. Can't win.

Really sad google didn't make a 5 inch nexus this past year.

If I return the s6, I'll be waiting to see this years xperia probably.

100% having a back button is better than not. I just think it's in the wrong place. It's totally in the wrong corner and sits way too low. When holding it with your right hand doesn't your thumb have to bend insanely? Toy basically have to make your palm stretch outwardly to allow the side of your thumb get to it. Uncomfortable. Straining.

Yeah im going through the same back and forth with the device as well. Picked it up last night and here are my thoughts about it with a breakdown:

Build Quality: I think Samsung has finally got it right with the build quality!. The Device is light in hand and really feels like a premium device. Very light may I also add. I think the build is a A+ job from Samsung.

Camera: I haven't shot that many pic seeing I just picked it up but from the little I have taken, its a straight beast, nothing really needs to be said about that.

Software: Well me and Touchwiz have a love hate relationship. It is the very best version of TW that has been on a Samsung by a far shot and I think its leaps better than the Note 4 but to be frankly honest, its still TouchWiz in my eyes. I am just not a fan of Touchwiz personally but if you have no beef with the previous model besides lag, then you will be fine because lag is very minimal in the device.

Battery: I know Samsung just pushed out the update to the devices so its too early for me to report battery life since It hasnt even been on a full charge yet but the drain as of right this second is pretty bad.

Display: The best display I have seen on a smartphone yet! It was the Note 4 but this took the cake.

Overall one big beef I have and its a personal reason is that its too small coming from the 6+. I think 5.5 is the sweet spot when it comes to phones size. I find it hard and crimped to type on and it doesnt help that I have huge hands.

I also love the use of iMessage and Facetime, since a great deal of my friend have iPhones that works out well.

Even though the S5 is super fast and smooth and all this and that, me personally I still feel that the 6+ is more fluid overall with navigating through the device. Other may feel different and it is the smoothest Samsung device has ever made.

WTF are you talking about? The iPhone is smoother than any galaxy and equally as fast. The S6 offers nothing that the iPhone doesn't except the screen and after the initial "aww" it's not that big of a deal. Don't be a dick, this is a civil thread.

I think you should catch up on the thread. Lol. He's saying he disagrees that the iPhone is 5 years behind.

Anyway, after factory reset the lag seems to be gone. Holding my breath...

We'll see when I start using it normally through the day.

----------

The finger print scanning almost always fails the first time. Second time is guaranteed entry, but first time, fails like 8 out of 10 times.

How often does your iPhone not read your fingerprint? (I know your talking about the S6)

But you say its inconsistent yet I don't remember the last time it didn't read my print properly. Works 99% of the time to be honest.

Have you tried deleting and scanning your fingerprint over again?

Mine was inconsistent at first too. I followed MRU's advice and added my right thumb print twice and that solved the issue for me.

Yeap. Tried that. The iPh6 scanner is good, just not as reliable as I wanted it to be. I mean, unlocking your device is something that's gotta happen quick and reliably. Otherwise, it's just frustrating. The whole point of the fingerprint scanner is to accomplish a quick and secure unlock. But if it fails even 1/10 times, and you have to re-scan, it's annoying and actually slowing you down. Versus a pin code which you can input and get cleared 100% success rate.

I've tried the same tricks with the S6. All four fingerprints saved are my thumbs twice at various angles, etc, to try to cover all the bases. The S6 almost always fails the first attempt. Second attempt almost always succeeds. So I don't know if it's a lag thing or what.

I mean it's amazing how often it fails the first time, but gets it the second time, with almost the same fingerprint scan. I try not to adjust my finger very much when I lift off and place back to rescan, just to see if it's the system not reading it or if my thumb is really not aligned. It's the system. The second time I go down with the same thumb placement, it gets it.

I can't help but blame software.
