So while Apple delivers a useless tech like 3D Touch, Samsung offers a larger display. I'm happy someone in tech is innovating better man-machine interfaces.

Honestly I find no matter where the fingerprint scanner is located on the back that it's awkward and I rarely use it on my nexus 6P which is a bit of a shame. It's a bit tedious but good ole fashion number passcode still gets the job done.

I'm not a big guy, but I'm bigger than most women and I have to say that even the iPhone+ is really too big for me - though I could manage it with it's correctly placed fingerprint scanner and reachability feature.

I haven't tried an S8 yet but I think it would be virtually unusable. The trade-off of a bigger screen for basically having to balance or juggle it during one-handed use would just be too great.

It's a beautiful device to look at though.

I want to see this phone in any color other than black so the shotgun blast of sensor/camera holes are noticeable to all.

Samsung went too far with the size of the phone.
I have been using it for more than a day now (I am not even a press guy) and it is very awkward to use especially one-handedly. S8+ is just pure insanity. No phone needs to be that large, it is taller than Note 7 and other phablets and is very easy to drop.
And the glare and blur on edges is not good at all. YES, display is amazing, great detail, contrast, but I don't want edge display! I want flat....and they done goofed here.
Not everyone wants curved phones, Samsung.

You realize the S8+ is literally just 0.05" taller than the iPhone 7 plus, right (and the S8 is 0.37" shorter than 7 plus)?? Sure the 7 plus is too big for some but many many people like it.

Hopefully Apple can get it under the screen. Rear fingerprint scanner would definitely be awkward.

Here's a hypothetical:

Thinking about the iPhone render from the other day that showed the circle in the back (which everyone assumed to be the fingerprint scanner)... what if it's a cutout for a ceramic circle for wirelessly charging similar to the Apple Watch magnetic back?

Samsung continues its tradition of having the best display on the planet for years in a row. Nothing comes close

Why is there a difference?

I'm surprised why no one is talking about Instagram and Snapchat when they talk about the camera. I'm currently using a Galaxy S7 Edge while my iPhone 7 Plus is in for service. And there is no doubt the camera is great when using the stock camera-app. But the quality goes down the toilet when using Snapchat. It's not even close to matching my iPhone 7 Plus. As Snapchat is among the top five most used apps in the world, and studies show that people tend to use Snapchat for photos more often compared to the stock camera-app why doesn't reviews test the cameras using the apps most people tend to use when taking photos?

Why should the review suffer under snapchat's moronic decision to grab a frame from the video stream instead of taking a photo?

Should Apple iPhone reviews get deducted points if Google release a sucky app on iOS?

No more TouchWiz jokes: Samsung's software has caught up to its hardware

... here I am, fresh off a solid week of constantly using the Galaxy S8 Plus, ready to commend Samsung’s TouchWiz variation of Android for actually being better than Google’s own Android in some respects.

There’s a cohesiveness to the Galaxy S8 user experience that’s unprecedented among previous Samsung, LG, Sony, and even HTC phones. No major phone manufacturer has skinned Android this well or this skillfully.

The 8+ is exactly why Apple's iCloud ecosystem is so important for lock in. I had the "misfortune" to see and hold one of these things and it makes my 7+ feel like an antique, not dissimilar from the way my first iPhone made my old Blackberry feel.

I know you can port everything over, and operate within an iOS environment (my family all have iPhones, we share calendars, iTunes sharing/accounts, etc.) but doing so is a PITA despite what many of the "easy" switching guides indicate.

Said another way - if I could use iCloud on this I'd buy an 8+ so fast it'd make your head spin.

Apple better deliver with the iPhone X or whatever it'll be called. They have real competition on the hardware side now.

Google integration is the same as iCloud. I wish iPhones had the microSD slot. That's my favorite feature of my Galaxy S7. That and the camera takes much better picture than my iPhone 6. Oh, and that it's waterproof. I like my iPhone more, specifically for the phone and messaging app, and for Apple's privacy stance. For everything else, I prefer my Galaxy S7.
