Not really. Because the Note 8 is going to fix the flaws on the S8 and release close to the iPhone 8 with an even gorgeous display and design

Why are you even mentioning "Flaws" with the S8? I never commented on that OR the S8 for that matter. All I stated was wait until the release of the iPhone 8 this Fall.

What?

As I've been told many times on this forum. Specs don't matter... well, unless they support your argument.:D:p Yeah, they matter then. ;). Seriously. Does it have a decent camera? A good screen? Those two things have sold more phones than any SoC, NAND, or Enclave.
Most people on here from what I've seen don't talk specs about Apple hardware, they talk benchmarks.

I think they do when it comes to the actual performance you receive from the device. People know they can buy an iPhone and use it for four years with regular software updates because it's a really fast device to start with. It has more efficient software paired with the fastest, custom hardware. Stuff like that enables the really nice camera features such as image processing each time you snap a photo. It also enables things like portrait mode and things we haven't even thought of yet. Historically it's enabled things like HDR and on-the-fly panorama stitching. The performance is a huge benefit, but it's marketed in such a way that consumers don't realize it's so important because Apple markets what you can do with the performance. Samsung talks a lot about cores and megapixels, Apple shows you what you can do with it.

"Fingerprint Scanner"

So the retina scanner was the cause of the exploding batteries in the Note 7?

Here's a hypothetical:

Thinking about the iPhone render from the other day that showed the circle in the back (which everyone assumed to be the fingerprint scanner)... what if it's a cutout for a ceramic circle for wirelessly charging similar to the Apple Watch magnetic back?

Now THAT is a great hypothesis to have. Maybe make the Apple symbol go over the charge circle for nice integration. Good thinking, 99!

While the phone is beautiful I agree with the whole rear finger print scanner location. The rear is fine, but the location near the camera is not an ideal location. But that seems to be the only flaw I've found with the phone. Apple is really going to need some exceptional gimmick to beat the S8.

I tried at a shop and it is not just awkward, its stupid AF cuz pretty much every time you want to use it, you just touch the camera and its getting dirty with fingerprints. I have no idea who the hell at samsung got this stupid idea to put the scanner at this position. The phone feels really strange cuz its so long and its pretty much impossible to use it with one hand. I already have some trouble with S7 but S8 is just worst in so many ways.

Can't wait to get my S8 in a few days. Been a loyal iPhone user since the first one. The iPhone 7 was a slap to the face for hardcore iPhone fans.

Why is there a difference?
My guess is simply OS optimization. The smooth ecosystem between iOS devices is far more stable than the hardware fragmented ecosystem of Android. The issue lies deeper in the fact that big Android manufacturers like Samsung and LG have their own versions of Android. Snapchat is developing their applications for the Android OS, not the Samsung or LG branded OS' that are built for "full" compatibility with stock Android devices, like the Pixel. The phones resources for its camera ends up going underutilized as a result.

One problem: I don't see how Apple could give case manufacturers advance notice of the location of a rear Touch Id without alerting MR and the other rumor sites...

I don't think Apple has ever given case manufacturers a heads up. They go by the leaks as well to make the cases. Sometimes they are off and have to recall/replace cases.

How is it possible to have a headphone jack and still be waterproof??

Apple told me this is impossible

They wanted more room for the larger haptic feedback sensor to give vibration when pressing the non-moving home button. They used the water proof comment as an extra excuse to say they needed to remove it. The truth of the matter is, it was an open area just like the lightning port; the same type of solution could have applied. They probably also wanted to push people more towards wireless/apple airpod purchases.

Apple will eat Samsung's lunch if they can get a huge display on the front with Touch ID integrated into the display. If they put the button on the back, then they're no better than Samsung. Why bother? It goes against every design principle Apple has ever had about the iPhone to put the button on the back. I don't think it will happen. Either we'll get a redesigned iPhone this year or we won't, but it won't have that stupid button on the back.

Remember this is the same company that has a protruding camera bump now just cuz, that completely goes against ANY clean design language. lol.

Yawn. Let me know when a Galaxy can outperform iPhone on benchmarks like Javascript execution, sequential SSD read/write, GPU performance.

rrrrright.....because iPhone buyers understand these things . good grief slap an Apple logo on toilet paper and cut out the shape of an iPhone and they will take out their wallet faster than I can draw my sword.

So basically The Verge gave it a 9 because they like the industrial design. The camera is essentially the same as last year but they put it in the good column. If Apple released a new phone with next to no camera improvements The Verge would nail them for it.

No they wouldn't.

Every year when Apple introduces a device that's barely iterative and a spec bump Verge give them high scores.

Played with one on the weekend quickly, very slick and good looking device. Though not going to replace my 6S plus . If Samsung does another super hero version.....I might be tempted, the ironman and batman editions were very nice.

my dads's S8 plus arrives on thursday so can't wait to get a good hands on with it and set it up for him. looks fantastic.
