That's lovely, but as it's connected to a Samsung, my interest pretty much ends there.

Nothing better than good ole fashioned closed mindedness. No wonder Apple doesn't have to worry about how quickly it rolls out improvements to its products anymore. :(

Well, I guess Samsung didn't pay them enough for a 100. Back up that armored truck, Samsung!

You're allowed to be happy with a Samsung or an iPhone, and not curious about the other side. IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER THAT MUCH. Not like the future of the country, global warming, is there a God, and if so what kind of God there is, etc., and what we are going to do about Putin being in the White House!

Comparing just the two photos, the one taken by the Galaxy S9+ seems to handle the variable light conditions much better, with higher dynamic range.

I hope that Apple puts the pedal to the metal and delivers something that’s significantly better with the next iPhone. iPhone customers deserve the best camera on the market.

To me, it looks like the Samsung has got better low light capability, but I wouldn't say that photo alone shows it being vastly better than the X. I always find that test photos like this only tell part of the story, because without knowing how the scene looked in person, you can't say that one camera is more accurate than the other.

I think Apple has typically tried to have their cameras produce true-to-life images, whereas Samsung has seemed to go for overexposure or highly saturated images.

Of course being there always helps. But it seems pretty clear to me at least that the Samsung photo has greater dynamic range, not just pumped up exposure.

I appreciate Apple’s more neutral approach, but I’d also love a better aperture and better dynamic range.

I'm not close minded. The camera on my X works quite well. I don't see any need to lose it and run out to buy an Android device when I'm firmly entrenched in the Apple ecosystem and they have phones that suit my needs.

The obsession with having the newest, shiniest, most exciting thing out there to show to my friends is really lost on me because I'm married, a homebody, and I'm pretty satisfied with what I have. If Apple ever stopped making phones that worked really well for me, I would naturally investigate alternatives.

Since I am not a professional photographer, I really do not need more than the camera that I have with the X.

So people are not allowed to dislike a brand? If you have a bad experience at a restaurant does a person have to go there again even though they do not like it?

Thank you. I also would be disinterested in a revolutionary, new chocolate sundae from Applebee's, but not because I dislike chocolate sundaes. I just don't eat at Applebee's.

Not a fan.

:D

For those interested, here is DxO's review of the iPhone X camera. But reviews from professional apple promoters and people given early accesss to devices like Austin Mann may be more valuable.

My point wasn't about you going out and buying a new phone. It was about disregarding what a very important brand and operating system are doing do be more competitive vs Apple products (many would argue better I would argue both are better than each other in certain ways). There are to many Apple loyalist who don't even look at none Apple products just because they are so brand loyal which I personally don't get.

I upgrade yearly. I like new phones. I never said I did not. I do not, however, wander around waving it in front of everyone. LOL. I get stuff for me. Besides... this is MR... I am hardly the only person on here with an X, an 8, or an 8 plus... that's probably most of the regular posters on this site who use iPhones.

I was pointing out that I had no use for a Samsung 9 because I already have a new phone and I don't want a Samsung because I really am not a fan.

If others like it, good for them.

I look at what others are doing. I just am not a fan of Android and all my iOS stuff works, so why switch? I do look, though. If Apple ever starts to let me down so much that I am seeking an Android phone, Apple will probably be declining as a company and that'll just be sad. I really am content with iPhone, as a product.

Original poster didn't mention anything about having a bad experience. Just basically said he doesn't pay attention to anything Samsung.

original poster never mentioned a bad experience. Companies never improve their products or user experiences? They've probably never even used a Samsung smart phone since they replied saying they are entrenched in the Apple ecosystem.

As a ‘photo enthusiast’ I have always thought Samsung has a nice camera. The BIG downside though is it looks way to fake and over processed (even with the beauty feature turned off).

iPhone tend to take darker photos and are harder in low light situations. But they give natural looking skin tones and colours that can be better edited later. Adding light is easy but dealing with pasty looking people is not and under exposure can be lifted.

But why even post to begin with then? Don't even read the read the article if you don't care about Samsung products and you are good with all your Apple products. There is no purpose to your original post except to get likes from other Samsung haters even though it appears that Samsung made a really good camera.

I'm not a Samsung fanboy or anything but to slam or ignore a company that appears to have done something well is just being negative for no reason.

I'm not singling out Apple fans Android fans are just as bad. People need to put away there biases and respect when all tech companies improve products.

Was DXO rubbish when the X got a higher score than the Note 8? Just saying ...... o_O

Yes. I think it was, anyway. And if the X2 wins? Still rubbish.

Well, for some people Samsung means slow updates and mediocre software. It has changed, sure, but I can’t fault them for not wanting to blow money on something they’re iffy about.

Pixel 2 hands down crushed s9 and the X. How much they pay Samsung for this joke of a review. All their credibility is gone

I love how each new iteration of smart phone just happens to top the last by a point. Its almost like they want to stay relevant. Either way, props to Samsung for keeping the competition going.

DxO’s main flaw is that they rely on the companies they evaluate to make a living, like IDC, Gartner, Forrester, etc. Anyone in the know, knows that these companies’ reports are BS... except, unfortunately, the media which keeps quoting them and giving them exposure. The whole thing is a sham. At least MR points out that it’s controversial, though I’d go one step further and say that their findings are meaningless.

I haven't been able to differentiate between my different phone's photos for a few years now. I guess you really got to be a photo enthusiasts.

The X was the first in a few years where I saw a meaningful difference... and I upgrade every year.
