I can’t wait for the day that the Fold camera system matches the Ultra camera system. I am keeping both the S25 Ultra and Fold 7 where the Ultra will be my phone for trips and events and the Fold for all other days. If I do need zoom then I’ll carry my Sony rx100m7. It’s worked for concerts and sporting events when I am not carrying my Ultra. I love the Fold’s size and I am happy with the main camera sensor.
If Fold had amazing camera would order 1 TB probably get 512 GB

It's not working split screen for me, if I can get split screen to work I would probably use Google Messages as well.
Do you have this turned on? With it off mine isn't split.

You're welcome, glad it's working for you.
Sometimes I think that's why I liked iOS so much prior to switching. Apple doesn't let you mess with much of how the phone works, and while Samsung does let you. Sometimes I'm just too stupid to not screw it up after messing with it.

It's a double edged sword for sure. I love the customization to make it my own but sometimes it's a bit much. But I've been awake from an iPhone long enough now that when I try to do something on my wife's it feels really backwards.

After using Fold 7 for a week, i am still not sure if i prefer it over the S25U.
I love the possibility of opening into tablet and battery is almost similar to my S25U but for traveling etc i still have battery anxiety with fold and slow charging speed doesn't help and even though it is much durable now and i don't keep phone for more than a year still inner screen protector peeling etc are quiet common.

It's a pleasure to watch media content when winding down at night but most apps are still not optimized and just zoomed version of normal apps or show black bar.

Anyone else in same boat?
I am not happy with battery life, not getting similar battery life compared to my S25U. Everything else about the phone is great. I don't have issues with the durability, if the inner film starts peeling I'll get it replaced. It's not the screen, it's the film. Knew going in that battery would be questionable, so I can't whine. I've already traded in my S25U so I'm a Fold guy. Will give it time. I can't see myself getting a Pixel Fold, so if I end up not liking it I'll be back with a slab phone.

Yeah it's a really tough call. I definitely loved the Fold when it was open. That's where it shines, but aside from some odd issues I had that probably could have been fixed with a factory reset (wtf), I still felt that it was awkward when using the camera. The features are cool, but I found myself constantly fumbling it trying to get the right grip. I'm sure that could have gotten better over time but again, the phone was on thin ice from the start due to me paying $1,000 after trading in what is quite possibly my favorite phone ever.

And then, you look at the top features for me in a phone that matter the most: Battery, Camera, Screen. 2 of the 3 were worse by enough of a margin to see a difference.

Folds are really cool devices and if they someday have a Fold Ultra where it literally has the same exact specs as the Ultra slab phone, I'd probably be keeping that.

I actually don't care how costly it would be. I would pay $2,500 for that phone.
Yeah, but what if it were more than that. Because you were just concerned with paying 1k with trade in… we are talking about 5000mAh battery, ultra level cameras and some anti-coating for the display. Not to mention, keeping the device as thin and light as possible.

Something like that could be north of $2,500 lol… it’s a reason why Samsung hasn’t released a device like that. It will be too expensive to build and it would be out of reach for most people.

Obviously I don't know the exact costs of all those items and components but I didn't feel like adding 45w charging, and better cameras would result in over a $500 price hike.

Knowing Samsung it's probably gonna be $3000 with $1000 in discounts which will bring it down to its actual price. With a trade in you're probably going to feel like its a deal with only $1500 out of pocket.

Lol. It's still funny at the weird looks I get when I unfold the phone in public. They're like wtf...

Crazy we're on the 7th Gen Fold by Samsung and most people still don't know about them. Foldables won't be normalized until the Apple Fold comes out next year.

Curious, what you come up with? I'm less than 10 the last couple days. I now seem to open it only for stock trading and streaming. :)

Tom
Yesterday was a total of 12 open/close actions, which I consider as a slow day. Just today I opened/closed the phone 4 times in an hour and am at 10x total so far.

Today isn't over but I expect 20-24x will be the more typical average, which equates to 7300-8700 times a year.

I don't know.

I think people are aware of them... but not interested in it until Apple drops one, because the attention I get is more like "oh that's the foldable phone, right?" and "how do you like it?" While they have a iPhone in their pocket. And there are some who are flat out skeptical in a foldable phone due to durability concerns regardless of any reassurances you make.

And then there's a group who see foldables as a solution in search of a problem... doesn't see the point in it and obviously think it's too expensive.

It's probably because my circle only lives in Apple's world. If they see anything outside of Apple, they are confused as hell. You even have people saying stuff like, "Wait, Google, the search engine company actually makes phones?!" Lol. Android = Samsung to them.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out next year but I'll enjoy my Fold7 for the time being... even though I'm ditching it for the TriFold in a couple of months. Lol. Samsung, here's my $3K.

My experience mirrors @nfl46 in that people either are flabbergasted by the form factor and have no idea these types of devices exist, or have heard about them but have never seen one in person.

In the Z Fold 7 thread in the iphone forum there are varying sentiments along these lines. But I notice there are still people totally unaware of foldables because I get the "What is that?" reaction still when I open mine from time to time.

I've been approached 3-4 times at Costco by people that recognized my Fold 4 and wanted to ask more about it. Even my grade-school daughter's friend knew about foldables and said my Fold 4 was "cool". Most recently, my wife's workout friend noticed my Fold 6 and asked "what is that?". As I explained that it's a Samsung foldable she literally started to show disdain for her iPhone Pro Max, lol. She really liked everything I showed about the Fold 6 -- the larger screen, the multi-tasking/multi-windows, the S Pen, etc. Alas, the price was probably the only set back but she was thoroughly impressed by the Fold 6 and this was a month before the Fold 7 reveal. I let her know Apple will be releasing their foldable late next year. Maybe she'll go for that...but, again, the price.
