Galaxy Z Fold7/Flip7

I wonder how Samsung does it's testing. Cause I don't think folding and unfolding that quickly and numerous is a true quality test. I think I would encounter issues if I open and close my MBP lid non stop thousands of times as well. Or roll my electric car windows up and down. Some things are simply not made for that kind of quick repetitive stress.

Since the closed screen is the one I look at most often, I doubt I'll actually need to unfold it 10 times a day once the "new" attraction wears off. So far I've never kept any phone for more than 5 years, let alone 10 (36,500 folding cycles). For me it's appears it won't be a problem. 🤣

That is odd about the speakers not working after 175,000 folds and hints at a severed ribbon cable, but then again that's after probably a decade's worth (or more) of folding/unfolding.

I will track how many times I unfold (and re-fold) my phone today. So far, the count is at 2 since waking up. I estimate it will be about 20 times total and equating to maybe 7,300 times a year. I have faith that the Fold 7 is more durable than past iterations. I had a Fold4 that severed a ribbon cable at the 18-month mark, which could've been around 10,000 open/close actions but I chalk that up to an assembly error. When I took the Fold4 apart it was clear the ribbon wasn't seated properly and already had a kink in it.

Well I will be keeping the Fold 7 but I feel like I kinda got scammed on the trade in. I just shipped my 13PM like 10 minutes ago and now it said trade in is completed and I got a $300 refund. I did see that if I didn't opt for a trade in I get a $300 accessory credit to be spent on a watch or something, however I have no interest in wearables(gave away my Apple Watch Ultra). If I had held onto the 13PM it might have went to someone who needed a good phone in perfect working(albeit non-peak performance since the battery is at 75% when traded), but now I am guessing its just getting shipped to a landfill somwhere.

That is amazingly quick. When I sent in my Fold 5 as a trade-in last year it took a few weeks to process the value.

I think it's because your trade in value is higher than the $300 threshold. Mine is considered 'junk' or recycled material which is crazy because IIRC the iPhone 13 Pro Max is only 3 years old.

After using Fold 7 for a week, i am still not sure if i prefer it over the S25U.
I love the possibility of opening into tablet and battery is almost similar to my S25U but for traveling etc i still have battery anxiety with fold and slow charging speed doesn't help and even though it is much durable now and i don't keep phone for more than a year still inner screen protector peeling etc are quiet common.

It's a pleasure to watch media content when winding down at night but most apps are still not optimized and just zoomed version of normal apps or show black bar.

Anyone else in same boat?

Loving this phone so far. Had it on vacation the last 5 days. Only complaints are that the zoom camera is less than stellar. Could have really come in handy a couple times. And it does get really hot when in the sun, once to the point where I couldn't use Expert Raw until it cooled down. Otherwise it's been a great experience!
Are you planning to keep the Fold?

I am not. I returned it this morning. The S25 Ultra is just too awesome to give up and I just don't really need a foldable. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing device, but just not something I need. I really felt the decrease in camera quality during my vacation when trying to zoom in. Glad I tried it out though because I realized that having the top camera specs and anti glare screen was actually more important to me than having a large inner screen.

Yup I don't remember if there is another setting on iPad to adjust color thinking in accessibility
I mean its fine, I guess the IPP is just a 'pro-machine' and needed color accuracy for 'professionals.' Me I just like how thin it is and I initially liked the tandem OLED screen, I just didn't think I would like the Fold's screen that much more.

Edit: I might still play around with the accessibility settings because the IPP's screen makes me rub my eyes a lot where the Fold 7's screen seems to not have that issue. It's weird, like I can't use the IPP for extended period without my eyes itching.

This Fold is so good

Do you think that's in a Samsung issue?
I think its an issue with how Google RCS works, the Fold 7 shipped with Google Chat as opposed to Samsung Messages. I initially registered with Google Chat which makes it so I cannot register with Samsung Messages, the issue with Google Chat is even thought they have their own foldables, their own app doesn't support the split plane.

Hmm I've always used Google messages on all phones and RCS works across devices. Split view is working with messages

By google chat do you mean google messages? I use Google messages on my Fold 5 and it works in split screen on the inner display. Also I'm pretty sure that's the default messaging app on Samsung phones now instead of Samsung messages.

It's not working split screen for me, if I can get split screen to work I would probably use Google Messages as well.
