Yep. It's actually kind of soured me on Android a bit, which sucks because I've been completely content with my S25 Ultra. Wish I never tried this phone because now I'm sitting here knowing that the iOS process is seamlessly and Samsung can't handle it.
Not a hiccup other than the purchase process for me. Smart switch couldn't have been quicker or easier. No way I'd prefer, or take my S24 Ultra back and I SURE don't miss iOS. ;)

Well figured out why it discharged when on its wireless charger, apparently the camera bump caused it to not have enough contact with the coils on the larger chargers. So now I had to go back to my Apple Magsafe charger which ironically is probably gonna be the best charger I have for this thing since the Samsung one is just too large and won't have good coil contacts.

Other than my Watch, everything charges fine w/ USB-C. I figure contact coils, even with good connection, have to generate more heat .;)

I'm around 7.2 but don't ever look at it tbh .
That's where mine hangs around ( at idle, drops to mid 6s after optimization, but then quickly jumps to 7.2 - 7.4 ) // Thank you for responding!! Looks like it's normal. :)

I'm not for keeping RAM free ( ofcourse wouldn't want the pressure in Red ) but this looked a bit off the normal curve so started wondering!

Really, even your original post on this you were not sure what caused your issues, now it's fact lol

I helped my sister 3 years back upgrade her Iphone and it was not a seamless experience YMMV

I agree that iPhone upgrades are not always seamless as we expect. I recently upgraded my parents to iPhone 16 Pro.

The upgrade from iPhone 13 to 16 Pro went smooth, whereas the iPhone 13 mini to 16 Pro got stuck mid-migration. Good thing I had a full backup on my Mac and just restored it to the second 16 Pro. I guess it wasn't too bad, but took a few extra hours.

Turns out the Fold 7 is indeed the thinnest (close 2nd place if you factor camera bump). The Honor Magic V5 with the self-proclaimed "world's thinnest" title actually ends up being thickest among its peers. Well done, Samsung.

I guess Samsung made the right design decision to go thinner at the expense of the S Pen. Including S Pen would only appease a relatively small contingent while making the phone both thicker and even more expensive.

I really hate how little love dbrand gives to non-Apple or non-Nintendo stuff, I buy their stuff with everything from iPhones to iPads to MacBooks. Hell I’d buy a Mac Mini skin if they sell them, why skip out on the android people? The Fold 7 case is just a rehash of last years Fold 6 case. And it’s delayed while the 17 Pro Max gets 3 cases to choose from including an exclusive one made for it.

I don't get this fixation with thinness..probably a Jony Ive legacy imo. Speaking for myself (and probably a few others at least ) I would've been just fine with a thicker Fold with a larger battery AND the S-Pen within it's own silo. I bet Samsung pivots a 180 in a NY minute if Apple releases a foldable with pencil support!

Totally think they're going to pivot back to the s pen and although I enjoy this form factor I wouldn't mind a thicker phone if it adds a larger battery or the S-Pen that I don't use, I still think that they can get the larger battery without sacrificing thickness

I'm really enjoying how thin and light the ZF7 is. Feels less substantial in my pocket than my 16PM, S25U, or even 9 Pro XL. Not to mention how great it feels in hand. I'd still rather have S-Pen support if it meant being a tad more thick, but I think they nailed it with this one.

I thought Samsung did a great job with the Fold6. It was thinner and less bulky than previous iterations, lighter in your pocket, and provided a wider front cover screen. I didn't think Samsung could make it much better, but the competition showed what's possible and Samsung responded.

The Fold6 and Fold7 demonstrate two different design philosophies and it is surprising to see the overwhelming response to the Fold7...until you hold it in your hands. Reading about the Fold7 and watching videos I was content keeping my Fold6. Once I touched the Fold7 then the allure set in and beckoned me like the call of the sirens. Even Apple diehards switched to the Fold7! By my estimates, a Fold7 with case and screen protector will shave off weight equivalent to ten US 25-cent coins. That is a good chunk of change to no longer weigh down my pants, shirt, or jacket pocket.

Maybe Samsung is reserving the "bigger battery and S Pen" option for the tri-fold where there's less compromise with space and price.

It’s simple economies of scale. iPhones are something like 7 of the 10 best selling phones each year. Making skins for so many individual Android devices that sell at a fraction of the scale cost more. Smart companies are always going to focus on the big sellers first.

I appreciate thinness but only to a point. I played with the Fold 7 briefly and yes, the form factor is pretty amazing but I don’t find my 1.6 mm thicker Pixel 9 Pro Fold significantly more cumbersome. I think the rumor is the 10 Pro Fold is going to be a touch thicker, so about 2 mm thicker but also something like 15% more battery capacity vs. the Fold 7.

I know it’s quite well built but mentioned in another post it’s almost disconcerting how thin it feels when open, like I might more easily break it. I don’t think it being another .5 mm thicker would compromise the experience but would also mean longer battery life. Make it a little thicker to accommodate both a bit more battery AND Qi2 magnets and it would actually be a better in hand experience for me because I wouldn’t have to put a case on it for the ‘magsafe’ functionality.

Not even going to tempt myself by checking the Fold 7, because I’ll be going back and forth on whether I should upgrade. I prefer to keep myself in the firmly against upgrading group lol.

But if Google pursued thinness as the rest of the foldable industry has done so… would you be against it? Because it’s not only thinness that has been praised with the Fold 7, the weight is noticeably lighter as well.

At the expense of other benefits like battery and qi2 charging with magnets, yes I would be against it.

If features, functionality and benefits can be maintained while getting thinner, great. I don’t find the current form factor of smartphones unwieldy, and I carry two of the heavier models. I would happily take less weight and thinner but not if it compromises the device in other ways that I value.

I wouldn't; isn't having a buy-don't buy choice great! I bet the Samsung internal phone pen is gone for good. :)

I think I made a mistake spending 900€ on a Trade-in for my 6 on this after the first 3 weeks of using it since I also have an Oppo Find N5 🫣

Things that annoy me

Phone is getting too hot (my N5 always stays cold)
Battery lasts half as long as my N5
Charging is too slow
Prefer the matt inner screen on the N5
Zoom is worse
The phone and it's spiky corner hurts my hand after a while? I am not even kidding? The rounded corners on the N5 are more comfy too hold
I thought I missed OneUI but I guess Software involved s lot of habits and now that I gotten used to ColorOS, certain things annoy me actually on OneUI (customization is still much better of course)
Prefer the rounded display corners and the bigger screen (both)

I also have an annoying Software bug on my Fold 7. I set the wallet app to my lock screen but EVERY day it suddenly disappears and I need to add the button again?

In a weird way I feel like the N5 "spoilt me" 😅

Dang, now you're making me paranoid about trading in my Fold6 + ~$1000. I appreciate your candor and honesty though.

Does wifi calling work well for you on the N5? I don't understand why zero Chinese phones (aside from Xiaomi 15 Ultra) support band 71. That's really the only thing putting me off from buying the N5. Really nice looking phone. Maybe next year.

Yes and I actually use it on two sim simultaneously but I am in Germany. I don't think there is any important band missing

I'm actually toying with the idea of giving it another shot. I think I for sure had a lemon or it was Smart switch that caused the issues I had.

The S25 Ultra is so good though in every way so I should probably just stop peaking over here haha. It literally killed the iPhone for me. I had an itch to go back a couple days ago and it only lasted like a half hour and then I was like "nah I'm good on the Android side".

I recently sold my S25 Ultra (never got along with the phone for some reason) and got a Fold 7. It ended up costing me less than $800 after Samsung’s generous pre-order deals so found it hard to say no. The phone is brilliant overall- even if the crease does get more noticeable with more use.

What annoys me about the ecosystem is the otherwise excellent Watch Ultra 2025. Hardware is superb but Wear OS app support just isn’t great. A number of apps I use on the AWU are simply not available via Wear OS, which is a shame. I will probably stay in the Apple ecosystem with Fold 7 kept as a back-up.
