I mean if you can just crop the main sensor to have equal or better zoom quality than the dedicated sensor wouldn't that make the telephoto sensor kinda pointless?
Probably. But it would be cool to have a telephoto with a little bit better quality on the next iteration of this phone. Pretty much my only complaint at this point. Battery isn't the greatest but I have a make safe battery pack that I just slap on if I really need it.

Do the foldable phones (Z Fold 7) have software features exclusively for being a foldable phone? For example is the One UI 8 the same on the Z fold 7 as it is on my S24 Ultra? or are there features that are different on the foldable?

It's pretty much the same but you can customize a lot more on the inner screen. For example, I have 12 apps in my dock.

There's plenty of apps that present in tablet mode. But there's also many that don't. And very few apps have features just for foldables, like Youtube and the Camera apps when half way opened like a stand.

It’s interesting, can’t say I’m not intrigued by the Fold 7 and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The Fold 7 has some good deals, problem is I’m still not sold on a foldable. The cameras are worse, battery life is probably worse and the crease seems to get worse over time, leading to scratches and possibly even breaking.

BUT i also like the concept of a bigger screen that folds out, would it be able to replace my iPad? iPadOS 26 is just trash in my opinion, i don’t know what Apple were thinking. I’ve been using it on my iPad Pro and multitasking is a mess, far worse than IOS 18, it’s now similar to the Mac which on a touchscreen i don’t think works.

I could trade in my S24 Ultra and there’s a code that takes a further £100 off, lowering the price to just over £1000 for one.

That’s where I’m at with everything at the moment. Whilst I’m still in the Apple ecosystem, I’m losing the love i had for them. There just seems to be something missing. I haven’t even upgraded my iPhone this year or last year, that is the first time I’ve gone 2 year without updating!! The only thing I really like are the AirPods Pro 3, the ANC is amazing.

If it makes any difference, I can say with available certainty that if I had the S25 Ultra around the Apple launch, I would have switched back. I'm a sucker. BUT I didn't because the Z Fold 7 has completely changed how I use my personal device. There's no way I could switch back now.

I didn't see anything at the Apple event that made me want to upgrade. That's a first for me, to go 2 years without upgrading. What was it about the Fold that made you switch from your S25 Ultra?

Yeah I think the new Pro Max is impressive, but it runs iOS so that's the problem.

The Ultra is great, I just wanted to try something completely different.

What is the battery life like on the F7?
Average at best. If there's a true weakness on this phone, it's battery. I'm happy to get 5-6 hours SOT.

With that said, I'm around a charger almost all the time and I have a magsafe case and battery pack of I absolutely need it.

It's not just the SOT.

The speakers aren't that great (especially if your outdoors and happen to use them! )

Also, the inner screen is...quite reflective.. Goodluck with the UX if it's Sunny outdoors..

Are you a heavy user? Besides the sub par battery, the device gets quite warm if pushed (no vapor cooling...yet)

You still need to baby this device vs slabs

After using the folds from the 3rd iteration to 7, while 7's physical attributes are the best, it's still not there..imo!

That said, I still love it lol

Thanks for this. I’m just fed up with Apple and I’ve been thinking about the Fold 7 but I need good battery, and the points you’ve raised are valid concerns, too.

I may just keep my iPhone 17PM until the S26U.

Not to try to convince you to make a purchase you won't be happy with, but all those points that we're just made are easily worked around. And the glare on the inner screen isn't that bad. I was just at my son's flag football game the screen open and it was really sunny and I was able to do everything I needed.

I love the AR coating on the Ultra is wonderful and when it was leaked that the iPhone 17 series would be getting AR I was excited but it’s very lame.

What’s the average SOT you’re getting?

I know it's not perfect, but Samsung sells a screen protector that's anti-glare on the outside screen that is as good as the Ultra's screen.

I'm getting about close to 6 hours. It's not a huge deal for me because during work I just have my phone open and on a charging stand, so basically I start My evening at 100% all day. During the weekends, I get a little bit of battery anxiety but I just have to remember to top it off once in the afternoon and then I'm fine.

i have the ESR screen protector for 17 pro max which is designed by corning and the anti reflective is pretty close to s25 ultra.

if you are in IOS ecosystem maybe wait for next years foldable.

Is pocket lint a problem for the Fold 7? I know it’s not dust/sand resistant.
No if you zoom into the hinges, you'd see small bristles looking gasket things that prevent small particles from getting in. It's not sand or dirt resistant though so if you're active or work in places with a lot of sand/dirt/dust then I don't recommend this phone.

Thanks. That’s reassuring. I have desk based job thus, my only concern is pocket lint/dust.

I’d want to go caseless. Unless at the beach.
I find the phone not comfortable to use without a case. Just my feeling maybe it's me. Adding the carbon fiber thin case which feels closest to nothing adds to comfort for opening closing and daily usage .
