I find the phone not comfortable to use without a case. Just my feeling maybe it's me. Adding the carbon fiber thin case which feels closest to nothing adds to comfort for opening closing and daily usage .
I do like the look of the rear carbon fibre case. Maybe I’d opt for that and be semi-caseless.

My friend works in wholesale and can get me a brand new 256 Blue fold 7 for £1150. Thoughts? Ideally, I’d want the Samsung device protection. Can this be purchased after the fact?

That's a nice pickup which keeps you at good range if you decide to sell down the line. I was able to add Samsung Care after purchase although I bought the phone from Samsung directly

That's interesting haha. I love using this phone case less because it's so thin.

My carbon case keeps it real thin so at least I have some grip the problem with no case the phone is a little bit slippery especially if you're in a colder environment let's say AC or now when the cold weather comes in. Also the case helps with the opening and closing along with the feel for fingerprint sensor

Which brand are you using again?

What is the battery life like on the F7?
Got mine from Swisscom and using it to play Genshin daily for 2-3 hours, take lots of photos during hiking, generate dozens of videos with Sora 2 and Veo 3, watch YouTube, talk to Gemini about life, edit photos in Lightroom, post daily dose of social media items, answer Emails etc.

We have the best 100% 5G+ countrywide coverage in the world, so the phone doesn't need to reconnect when walking in forests, climbing peaks and glaciers or sitting in train, moving through the tunnels etc. In the evening I still have around 20% battery when returning to my penthouse at the apine lake.

The difference between Switzerland and Germany, Austria, Italy etc. is huge though, the Fold 7 dies within ~6 hours outside of my country, just like my iPhones 4S-16, because after 25 years, the GPRS, 3G, 4G, 5G or even the basic cellular connection (!) is still either terrible or not even existing there, not even in bigger towns which is absolutely crazy and one of top 5 reasons, why I moved to Switzerland many many years ago. You cannot even call emergency or ambulance if something happens (root cause of a death during our team hiking in 2014) and you are not at some main station with network coverage. The phone is constantly searching for network and reconnects, which drains the battery extremely fast, faster than playing AAA Games, editing RAW Photos in Lightroom and Photoshop or generating Video Flows with AI.

I gotta admit that I'm jealous of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's outer screen, I really do miss a wider screen, specially for texting, the Z Fold 7's screen feels cramped to me when I'm texting 🙂‍↕️

Maybe your off the beaten path than most 🙂 but I have done recently 3 weeks in Tuscany several months in UK and now 2 weeks in southern Spain and back to my usual winter months in Thailand shortly and never noticed any considerable drop in battery endurance on my travels, perhaps I am a less adventurous tourist for this to be any concern 😀

Kinda jealous of the Pixel's battery life, 12 hours is pretty amazing for a foldable especially when its less than a mm thicker.

Edit: never mind after the Jerry Rig thing I'm no longer jealous. That being said I just came back from a trip and it went down to 3% after 27 hours of not being able to charge. The plane's USB port didn't work, and I was standing in immigration line needing to use the phone to use the US passport app with less than 5% left. So I am guessing I'll need a battery pack for my next trip, but there's only a few that works for the 7. Can anyone recommend one n the 10k to 15k range?

Welp. I've had this phone for close to 3 months now with a little 2 week break in there when I returned to my S25 Ultra. Here are my thoughts:

- The Foldable world is really fun. The amount of times I'm able to open my phone up and have a tablet experience is really nice. At my desk, I'll often have YouTube videos playing that I glance over at. I know I can do this on literally any phone, but with having the bigger screen open all day, it helps me appreciate the phone for what it is much more. My only hesitation is that I just don't know if I NEED to be in the foldable world. I feel like I could move back to a slab phone and still be content. Maybe I'd feel differently if I actually did switch back (this actually happened when I went back to the Ultra and missed having a big screen) but it still feels overboard sometimes.

- The Samsung anti reflective screen protector is a must for the outside screen. I wish they could do the same on the inside screen.

- Battery is fine. I haven't gotten in a scenario yet where I was panicked because I was almost out of battery. I always have a charger by me if I need one.

- Camera is also fine. This is the thing. I'm actually surprised at how much I don't miss having awesome telephoto ability. Do I not miss it because I know I can't zoom in more than 3x without it looking crappy, so I just don't do it, and I've accepted it? If I had the Ultra, would I use it more because it's there? Just interesting to think about. I looooove the zoom cameras, but again, haven't found hardly any scenarios where I was like "Could have had a better shot with the Ultra". I bet there are similar conversations going on around the iPhone Air.

- I prefer to use this caseless but I'm nervous about cold weather coming. This phone can get really slippery on the back. If I hold it from the sides, it's ok.

- More of an Android observation since it's been almost a year since I switched. I really depend on Google services now and switching back to iPhone would be really tough because Siri is so bad. I use Gemini daily, multiple times per day. I know I could get all that on the iPhone too, but I try to forget that since I'm currently in an iPhone itch mode....

- Speaking of....I wish I never switched to Apple from Android back in 2014. I was completely happy on Android and my Nexus 4. Apple ruined smartphones for me because no matter how many times I switch to Android and love it, I constantly get pulled from Apple. Long term, I'm still not sure what I want to do. The obvious answer is stay on the Z Fold 7 because it is the coolest device I've ever owned. I am thinking about maybe getting like a cheap iPhone 13 just to have an iPhone that I can pick up and use to get the iOS experience and then just tuck it back in the drawer. Maybe after all the stupid Apple hype dies down too, I'll forget about this stupid itch I have.

- Otherwise, this phone is a major major major go!

Here's a nice cheap and slim case with hinge protection I got on Ali Express. The magnet is crooked and weak but fast charging works. Overall it's exactly what I wanted at a fraction of the price of the ones on Amazon. I'm not paying $75 for a stupid case.

I honestly feel like I don't need a foldable either, I really enjoy the compliments I get with it though. I think for the dopamine factor alone an extra few hundred more bucks is worth it. Especially during my trips because...

I was in Korea and they really like it when foreigners use their phones for some reason(the guy I was meeting with commented that they really liked his). Plus if you ever in Korea(Asia in general TBQH) in their electronic section of the malls there they have services where they can professional replace the screen protector with a matte one. I'll probably do it next time I'm there, right now my factory screen protector is pristine with zero scratches on it so I felt like i wouldn't need it. One of the thing I used to love about the Apple Store was when you bought a screen protector there they would install it for you. Sucks that they no longer do that.

Camera is fine but I felt like the 10mp with 3x is utterly pointless when you get way better zoom using the 200mp and 2x optical. With only 2 cameras it would have been compatible with more chargers/magsafe accessories.

Edit: I was initially salty about the camera set up because I was used to just taking it out and snapping a picture, now I have to select what lens to use or what resolution. This was until I downloaded the camera assistant app and enable 'Auto Lens Switching,' which make the phone now work more like iOS. NO idea why this feature was turned off from the factory, nor will I understand why they preload the phone with spyware and bloat. It's like they copied the worst thing about Apple and ignored the good things about them.

For AI features after a month I decided to just uninstall all of Google, I barely use Gemini so for my use case I don't use it enough to justify all of Google's spying.

That's interesting, lol. Google services is probably the sole reason why I'm still on Android. It's so good. I don't care if they're spying on me. I just assume there's nothing private about anything anymore.

In all fairness, I don't think there are many people that truly "need" foldables.. it's a niche device. And I love it, but if I moved back to a slab phone, there would be some things that I'd miss, but they wouldn't be deal breakers.

Samsung are really tempting me with this price! I know I said I'm looking at the Pixel 10, BUT even the Pixel 10 Pro XL will cost more than this offer. Galaxy Fold 7 is now below £1000 here in the UK. Very tempting Samsung, Very tempting indeed.

I got this one when it was on a special sale and I really like it can use it with a cord but mainly I use it with the magsafe charge

Thank you. What sort of offers are you seeing with the Samsung week offers?

There’s currently 20% off here in the UK, but because i can use my dads Blue Light card i can bump it up to 25%, then trading in my S24 Ultra get’s me to that price of £935.25

I walked past an EE store today, I decided to go in and have a look at the Fold 7. Wow is it thin  I wasn't expecting it to be that thin and light. The lady who worked in there asked me if I needed any help, I explained I was just looking because I'm intrigued by the foldable phones. She asked what phone I was using, I told her my iPhone 15 Pro Max, she responded with yea the battery life on the Fold 7 will not be able to match my iPhone, neither will the camera.

Still I was very impressed with what I saw in a very thin phone, even the bezels looked really thin. Unfortunately I couldn't pick it up because it was tethered to the table, but I could fold and unfold the screen.

Tried it, unfortunately it doesn't fit flushed with my case(Benks) which I stupidly forgot to mention. So its going back to Amazon. Trying this for now with a raised lip.

When she asked if you needed help, you should have asked her where the checkout counter was. :D
