question is will there be a fold 8 and wide fold or just fold 8 will be wide? hmmm

no interest in either as i have the z tri fold and iphone fold will get my foldable money this year but will be interesting devices for sure.

bigger battery is long overdue

It sounds like both right now. It'll be interesting to see what the price points are for each of them as well. For me, I would still have a really hard time going for that wide and short design. I just love the form factor of the Z Fold 7 so much but I definitely understand the whole aspect ratio argument too. Just feels like there would be a lot of sacrifices on the outside screen which is pretty much perfect right now.

i can see both ways on this one. i did hear fold 8 would be slighter wider than fold 7 but dunno if that isn't case now there is a wide fold.

i loved the passport style from pixel fold so if it's like this i think it will work well but fold 7 outer display works well in pockets and why many loved it due to the size.

Yeah I'm going to keep an open mind, and what I might do is actually try the passport style just to see if I like it, because my hunch is that they're probably starting to try to transition to that style, so I might as well get used to it.

As @mjschabow mention… Samsung has plans to release both, but I think they do a limited to run on this wide fold to see how much the public desires the form factor. If it’s a hit… then they could change their entire design language to that.

It’s ultimately about Apple, Samsung didn't plan on this without the influence of Apple... Google did this wide design first (abandon it way too soon). But Samsung didn't pay any attention to it until now.

I'm not sure how I feel about a passport style. I had the original Pixel Fold for a brief time but poor reception and battery life made me return it and get the Fold 5. I ended up preferring the form factor of the Samsung.
For video I think a passport would be better but otherwise I think I might prefer the current Pixel Fold and ZF7 style.
 
I think a passport sty)e is the way to go tbh and why not now that Samsung is making screens for Apple's foldable why not use some for themselves lol.. I enjoyed the original Pixel and one with better specs and battery would be a bit.

Chances are pretty high that I end up on a Samsung foldable again so I would certainly be willing to try the passport style.
 
I'm really excited to see the new Samsung passport foldable. I like the form factor, but I'm also very interested in finally seeing foldables without a crease. About time!

I haven't bought a foldable before because of the visible crease. They're too expensive and don't want to upgrade in 2 or 3 years to get one without a crease, so I've waited until they perfected the screen.

I'm also excited for the normal Fold 8 without a crease too because this and the passport one will be cheaper than Apple's foldable iPhone, although it rumors are true about the design then it will be very cool too, but too expensive.

I am really curious how the passport style would make the outer screen experience be. I really love the outer screen of the Z Fold 7 so I really don't want a lesser experience there.

I imagine the experience would be similar to the Pixel Fold size and the way it unfolds?

Lol I've never actually held one, when the original one came out, I was so deep into Apple that I didn't even read up on it or take a look. 🤣

It’s going to be an interesting debate on which form factor wins out… because there’s no wrong answer, going to be based on preferences.

If someone favors the outer experience… then I don’t think they would care for the passport form factor, because it’s going to wider than the typical candy bar phone. I think the passport form factor caters to those who values the inner screen more, because I’ve always used the inner screen more than the outer screen.

Yeah, it was short lived. Google pivoted before having people get accustomed to the design (as well as devs), because I actually liked it.

But once Apple comes into the market with their foldable… damn near every Android maker will change up lol, we can see that now with Samsung.

I had the original Pixel Fold for a short time before returning it and getting the Z Fold 5 and I don't recall having issues with the outer screen. I didn't have to rotate the phone for the best YouTube experience which is nice but it was also somewhat wide for typing. Foldables have come a long way since those two phones so I'll have to try each form factor and see which I prefer now.
