Here's some interesting news for One UI 9.0, that comes shipped with the new Folds and Flip. Samsung has made changes to the lockout duration time after failed login attempts. Just make sure you don't hit lucky number 13, as it'll require a factory reset.

Do the creases get worse over time though? Has anyone done a ‘time lapse’ of the crease over incremental periods of time? Curious to see it, as I think the recent Fold (Oppo?) with just about zero crease showed signs of one forming after a few months?

I'm waiting patiently. I think I'm going to have some pistachio gelato this weekend LOL

Great video. It’s hilariously ironic that the Tri-Fold has 4 Apps in the Dock & 5 Apps on the Home Page, but the wider Z Fold 8 is the complete opposite 😂

Also, his Home Screen backgrounds kill my eyes. The Apps would take me forever to find with that mess behind them 😂

Hopefully we see a quick software update to the home settings and I'm sure if we have enough complaints and suggestions from people Samsung will listen. I agree. I like to keep this home screen visible

Of course, if you bend something multiple times over a year or so then results may show. But based on my experience… the crease doesn’t impede any interaction with the inner display. I find it similar to the notch or dynamic island that iPhone users deal with… they made a big fuss over it initially, but over time they adjusted to it.

Ok & what about scratches on the internal screen? Presume you need to be extra careful when wiping it clean to make sure your microfibre cloth is spotless & won’t have any grit that leaves a scratch on the fragile internal screen?

I clean my phone the same way as every other microfiber cloth and whoosh, I know everyone talks about being extra careful. I have no scratches after a year on my foldable and I treat it the same way as every other phone. Inner screen is flawless.

For up to a good two years, every foldable I've had was pretty much exactly the same as the day I got it. The crease feels and looks the same. No noticable marks on the display. I usually trade in or sell a foldable after one or two cycles, so I can't speak longer than that. Typing this on my Fold 7 which I carried almost daily since release, and it's in mint condition.

There is one exception though, which used to scare me, but no problems ever came from it. Unfolding and folding will produce sweaking or crushing noise at random. This is most likely from small amounts of dust.

I honestly don't know when I'll really need to upgrade this phone. I've never had any issues with wanting more battery or better cameras on my Flip 7, so I know I won't have any issues with the camera and battery life on this phone. My guess is the big upgrade will come on the Fold 10. Maybe that will be the time to upgrade? Who knows. For now, I see myself being completely satisfied for the next 2 years easy. Already ordered my tempered glass screen protector. No case needed, as I believe to truly appreciate a phone where engineers have done all they can to make them as light and thin as they can, you have to use it without a case.

What made you go Flip instead of the Fold?

I love the Flip series. Hope Samsung keeps improving on it over the next years.

A look at some of the Samsung cases in this case for the Fold 8, I have the carbon standing case coming with my order though I'm not sure if I'm just going to sell it.

I don't like these cases that only cover the back of the phone, they also cost way too much for just "half" of a case. The only official case I'd get is that hybrid shield case that has the front cover and hinge protection. I went with the Spigen Slim Armor Pro S case with 360-degree stand and the Benks kevlar case w/ hinge protection for when I want to use something slimmer. Both cases and glass screen protectors already delivered and on deck ready to go when the phone arrives!

Excellent. I agree the cases are way too much. I only picked up the case because I got it for $40 something dollars but I would never buy them at that price and really I only got it because of the reward. We shall see if I keep it though

Still thinking about getting the fold 8. I really like the feel in the hands but the battery is bothering me 😀
