Well I knew from the start this year Samsung made a right pigs ear on ordering and after delays etc etc I now return from my week hols and find out my F8 order is not being delivered and in fact was cancelled by Samsung without any notification

Fortunately I get one on a carrier deal immediately while I waited for my spare F8 from Samsung to be delivered ............. not, now

What a pile of Pish from Samsung not honoring the discount codes which are now not available on re-order, I have put in a complaint on the hope they give me something, but not holding my breath.

Yeah, I’m really enjoying the Fold 8… but this whole pre-ordering saga when it comes to discounts left a bad taste in my mouth.

Samsung didn’t offer the promotional upgrade… something they had available for a while, then I contacted them asking for $30 credit for the pre-order perks. They initally stated I can get the credit after they shipped my order… but later went back on their word.

The Fold 8 is my first foldable ever and man, I love this thing a lot. Even though the cover screen is small, it is so comfortable typing on it and scrolling. For some reason it gives my hear some more rest. I love watching YouTube and Twitch unfolded. Such a cool device. I have been a Fold-hater for so long and now I don't want to be without it anymore. Well played, Samsung!

Excellent happy to see a new foldable user enjoying the experience

There were/are plenty of Android Folds naysayers. Not sure why you felt the need to put “IOS” there.

The divisive tone continues..

We’re just here to enjoy tech.
This is a MacRumors site and if you read the front page news form feeds on the IFold release it is littered with naysayers and many misinformed comments on folds and the new one coming from Apple

There are not primarily android fold naysayers on this site you need to go elsewhere to find them and probably less likely now Folds have been out for 7 years now.

So as a Fold user and Iphone user myself I can't be happy that others and in context of this site (ie IOS users) may actually like the IFold after all the negative comments you can find on this new Apple product on MacRumors

I think you need to chill and stop trying to create issues when there are none

Well, tbf… “Fold-hater” was the claim they used. And currently the only foldable phones come out of Android… the user is from iOS, @SteveJUAE called it right.

I understand we are here to enjoy tech… but I don’t think there was anything divisive about it, no need to stir the pot.

My post wasn’t meant to be divisive. I just wanted to show that my opinion about foldables was wrong.

Looking forward to all the IOS naysayers converting to Folds, when the realize what they have been missing, when the IFold/Ultra comes out 🙂
Hopefully we have a good amount of new people realizing how awesome some of these devices are and of course we're going to get some people that will say I will never get one and that's okay it's good to have choices. Hopefully everything keeps pushing forward with more awesome tech coming our way.

Overall with these foldable devices I think we spoke about this before on numerous forums but we need to get the cameras even better on these devices which I think eventually down the line that will be the case though it may not be the top top but just keep on improving on top of what is already out there. I was at a barbecue this weekend and I can't tell you how many people were amazed at this phone, especially when I show them a movie on it while I had it on the kickstand on the table..lol

We're happy that you came over here to show and share your opinions it's refreshing, most of our regular peeps here dual carry so we have good ideas of both sides and we don't bash either side just some opinions good and bad of each..

You didn’t mention a site. You just said IOS users. It came across as derogatory & a set up for a pile on.

There are plenty of Android users (on & off this site) who could’ve been mentioned instead of “IOS”.
Sorry if you think it's derogatory or divisive to look forward to IOS users, who until now did not have the option to consider a fold using IOS. Then you attempts of some form of moderation on this forum needs serious adjustment as this is the 2nd recent similar remark from you.

My additional points on MacRumors were for clarification only, post your comment and the original post stands on its own.

It would be far more polite to ask for clarification than accuse people of being divisive and derail this thread with unnecessary chat. We are normally a happy bunch here with diverse interests and you are the one causing friction.

I agree and I have noted before whats holding a lot of this back is price point 🙂

All the extras we want is doable now but a lot of the R&D budget has been spent on continuous improvement of the screen and hinge over 7 years.

Sticking in better cameras, spen, IP68, magnets, privacy filter etc etc just drives the price up to likely unmarketable levels.

Having said that if the IFold/Ultra is £2-300 more than the F8 Samsung may have some headroom next year 🙂

Totally prices come into the equation but I think we have some wiggle room and let's keep on improving

And I plan on daily driving this for 2 years, going to be strange if I decide to move on to the Ultra model.

Really hoping Samsung doesn’t make S-Pen exclusive to the Ultra… because I wouldn’t mind staying on this form factor for the foreseeable future. Like the whole inner screen experience… from the keyboard layout, browsing and multitasking. Not really doing too much movie watching on it (keep that specific to the iPad lol).

I have my keyboard setup with a translucent background (courtesy of ThemePark)… I get it, it’s not for everyone but I do like it. Hoping this Viola browser takes off… have it installed, but it’s not fully ready for default status.

I get it with the S pen for you, especially I know you would switch out although you like this form factor the best and I agree, hmmm never heard of the browser but I’m strictly Chrome and Brave with Brave more usage for me

I’m not really tied to any browser… if there’s something new and fresh, that’s appealing enough I’ll check it out.

Plus, my favorite browser is Arc… that I use on the Mac. Been waiting on something like that for Android, nothing has materialized up until now. I like having vertical tabs… supposedly Edge is working on it for Android, not sure if that’s going to happen. But right now I’m using Samsung Browser… rumor has it they plan on doing a major revamp on it.

Guessing you use Chrome/Brave for the sync feature?

Yup easy to sync across devices

Very nearly caved and bought a Fold 8 today, I was so tempted but somehow common sense prevailed.

It's a stunning piece of hardware but I just couldn't see me using it fully! I think I'm just much more happy with a slab phone and a laptop for media when away with work.

Maybe one day I'll crumble but not today

I stuck with the Samsung browser just as the ad block is good
