Anyone who is on the verge of a physical collapse from too much forum participation should start a thread about it so they can discuss the problem with the rest of us while they still have time. And watch the thread 24 hours a day so you don't miss any useful advice.
lol :D

You know, I'm not on that borderline, but you just described my behavior. Sometimes, I'm so anxious for replies to a post of mine that I will check back every few minutes... for hours...

I'm ok, really... {twitch} just gotta {twitch} read {twitch} the replies. {twitch, twitch} Must...

Hmm next time im playin an online game ill have to look that my little stickienote telling me not play for more then 50 hours...

But seriously that is insane who can even star at a screen for more then a couple of hours without there eyes hurting.

BTW: Does anyone here have a extra 50 hours in there day? (i guess it would be im not really sure cuz a days 24 hours [for anyone who didnt know] sorry rambling on for nothing)

Man, this is freaky. I opened this in a tab, did some stuff for a few hours, including getting a coffee-based drink. Then I came back, thinking "It's been quite some time since I played Medal of Honor..."

Then I read the thread.

TIME TO DIE YOU NAZI ****S!!!

Now this guy is l33t to the max. He's the f'n l33t master.

But seriously, how can someone stand to play a game for 50 hours? It just seems odd and strange to me since I can rarely stand playing a game for longer than 10 minutes before I get bored.

Yeah I agree. I hope he gets a tombstone shaped like a PS2 controller or something - that'd be fitting and cool.

I remember playing my Street Fighter on my NES with my friends. After about 12 hours we were absolutely exhausted. I remember we figured out that putting socks over our hands made it possible to avoid blisters from pressing buttons too much. It also helped with the old dragon punch.

Ah the good ol days :).

RIP Gamer-dude....

"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official said by telephone.

Being in the healthcare field, this explanation doesn't really make sense. There has to be more to the story than the way it's being portrayed.
It's hard to read things in press & figure out the true medical facts.
Unfortunately, the unintended side-effect of reporting it like this is that people will begin to think, "I shouldn't play video games too long b/c it might cause me to die."
The cause-and-effect that is being implied in the story is just incorrect.

Being a healthcare professional as well, the reason for death sounds a bit sketchy as well.

My first guess would be a combination of excessive caffeine or 'other' (eg amphetamine) stimulant use for an extended period.

The other thing that could have happened is that he formed a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) that then broke off and created a Pulmonary Embolism. Extreme cases of PE can cause heart failure. See Medline

Another reason to walk around the cabin a bit on long plane flights...

Just on the whole tombstone thing, I know it's kinda morbid but can anyone else picture the inscription?

Well, if this story gets a few people off their couch and outside doing exercise, I guess that's not bad, right? :D

I already do so. I don't want to die while playing Doom 3. Those damn Monsters will make your heart race.

First of all, either they die of games like flies over there in Korea or this is a repost, cuz I have heard about this a couple of months ago.

No probs, we gotta laugh cause if we don't, then what's left to do?

I think all you people that are laughing or making light of this are very sick people.

This guy obviosuly had a mental disorder/illness/addiction (he lost his job because of his gaming) that is no different from someone who drinks themself to death or someone who gambles away from their life savings.

Please show more sympathy.

...he LOST his job? No, he QUIT his job. There's a big difference there!

Edit: Okay, now wait a sec. The Yahoo article says he QUIT his job, but now the BBC article says he LOST his job. So which is it?
