hi maven,

can you answer this please, im sure there are ppl who'd like to know this.Is it possible to drive 3 external monitor via 2 mini displayport and 1 hdmi with or without the notebook monitor enabled? your reply is greatly appreciated! thanks.

I take it you tried the modded inf and drivers from here:
http://laptopvideo2go.com/

And what drivers have you tried?

Have you looked up the 650m device id and added it into the inf manually?

Here is the device ID

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0FD5&SUBSYS_00F2106B&REV_A1

Have not had much luck with the edit.

If you would like to offer assistance, we would all appreciate it.

so why are you on this forum?

Also go ahead buy a that crap pc with a nice video card. then in 12 months it will be outdated. and i'll jsut go ahead and buy an external gpu connceted via thunderbolt.

Yeah cause TB has picked right up in the last 24 months with lots of awesome accessories. Given the insane prices of TB docks etc, its going to be a TB GPU or house deposit... choice is yours.

And BTW, if those PC noobs get a GTX 680 or GTX 690 that they can run in SLI, they are going to be ahead of your TB GPU for the next...4 years probably. Apples finest Mac Pro are rocking a ATI 5770..... WOW!

The GTX 650M is a midrange card, that is a fact. Its not going to stop be upgrading to the new MBP, though I will not be gaming on it, that is what my PC is for.

Give me a few minutes as I am at work. I will try and download an nvidia inf and edit it for you. Are you going to use the 301.24 whql drivers?

Gratz on the purchase Maven.

Be good to know how hot its gets under gaming and how loud the fans get.

Inf to test

Maven, please try this inf I have just modified

Whatever I can at this point. Tried 301.24, 302.59 and a few others....

I will snag the driver if you can get me the .inf

grrr....

I didnt ask but guessed you are using 64bit? I will take another look at the 301.24 inf to see if I missed anything

Yes - 64, but have DSEO in test mode.

I noticed the 301.24 drivers do not have a nvwi.ini file. Generally, it is overwitten when I drop a modified version inside the display.driver folder

I'm a little confused on the windows support. So this macbook wont work with windows with the current apple drivers? Because most of my work will be done on windows and I wanted to get work done this summer before school started...

The problem is that Apple has yet to release their bootcamp drivers. It will not affect those using virtual PC's/Machines under OSX

Argh, that is frustrating. I really hope they release the drivers soon. I don't want to buy this computer and not be able to use windows for a few months.

I am sure they will be released shortly, in the meantime I am sure Maven will get there for us :)

Everything that shows under device Id.

When I run the setup.exe I get the no compatible hardware error. If I maunually install, I get a "The system can not find the file specified"

hmm weird, I am pretty sure I have the inf modified correctly. So you extracted my inf zip into your nvidia driver folder? (if you run the nvidia driver install it will extract the drivers to c:\nvidia\301.24..... then you overwrite the original inf with my inf)
Sorry if this is what you are already doing and you are used to doing this

Thats the way I do it normally, but this set of drivers (301.24 Downloaded for nVidia) does not have a nvwi.ini file in the display.driver file. Ususally that file overwrites the old one.

Do you want to try 302.59 for us?

Yep will do, but my inf will probably work with the .59 version too. Try that while I download & modify the .59 inf

Wish I was at home, I could look at the 670m modified install I did recently!

That gives me a "Required files are missing error" when using the .exe and manual.

Thats different at least. :)

Is DC Universe Online available for macs? It's not all that graphics intensive, just not sure if it supports OSX.

That and Diablo 3 are really the only games I'd care about putting on a notebook.
