As for the desktops, let's see what the next iMacs bring once they arrive. Polaris 10 for sure – even Vega maybe?

…casual, mobile games. And scores of actually worthwhile games that no longer are working.Apple starting to use their own processors (A9X) and iOS.

There already are thousands of games for the Mac.
But very few to zero AAA titles. I'd rather play Battlefield 1 (or a game with a similar level of graphics) than Plants vs Zombies.
That's hilarious. Some people don't mind playing old AAA titles, but most gamers would prefer to play the latest games along with their friends. A lot of people, myself included, also enjoy to play the latest first person shooters. This is the main reason why I'll be ditching my Mac.There in fact are lots of AAA titles. Just because there right now is a shortage of current AAA games, doesn't mean older ones don't count.

Why do security features like SIP mean Apple is going to go full ARM CPUs?
this right here. wanna know why there's no effort to get modern games going? This.
wanna know why there's no updates to the pro machines? This.
wanna know why Apple is putting out low-end machines with embarrassingly low clock speeds? This.
regardless of what Apple has said in the past, the future of macs is a whole lot of iOS port-over.
Macs will become disposable, unservicable sealed items because they will lock down Mac OS like iOS. People new to the Mac in 2017 barely even have to interact with the Finder. Everything is set up to go into the cloud where you can get it everywhere... why make an accessible file system when you just make the files available everywhere? Cant get to the system folder without tricks, cant get to the user library without tricks, Rootless operation, SIP, all of this... the path is clear. deny it all you want, but this is the future of computing according to Apple.
Think I'm wrong? this is the path that has taken Apple close to being the first company to be worth one TRILLION dollars. it wont change any time soon.
Nvidia released Pascal drivers for MacOS, opening the entire 10xx series including both Titans for Mac users, whether in a cMP or via eGPU. Blizzard is certainly paying attention, and beta SteamVR for Mac & Linux is coming within months.
Have the days of what Mac gaming we had now passing us by.
Apple do not seem interested in bringing out a half decent desktop that we can expand at our leisure, nor do they seem interested in the graphics side of things that games require.
My suggestion is buy or build an inexpensive PC desktop. $1000 is well spent if unrestricted gaming is the goal.
The drivers aren't out yet.
Yup quite agree, but with Apples latest announcement think I will hang on in there to see what the new modular Mac Pro brings us and at what price. I prefer to do that because I really do not like using windows in any way shape or form, it's bad enough having to use it for the short times that I do in bootcamp.
What announcements? I admit to being out of touch on the subject.
They need to get their prices in line with today's reality. I don't want to beat a dead horse, which on occasion I'm guilty of, but although I like my latest Mac laptop, I resent that I paid (yes voluntarily) a Cadillac price, $2000 for a computer with a paltry hard drive, and what can't be called a cutting edge graphics, in fact no dedicated card, but integrated graphics. I was unwilling to spend $3000 just to get a dedicated card.
I've got Bootcamp installed, but rarely if ever play Windows games on it, and that's so infrequent when I'm traveling, I'm considering removing the the Bootcamp partition to free up some more hard drive space. I'd like to see Apple get a wake up call. I prefer the MacOS, but I could survive exclusively in the Windows world if I had to.
The modular Mac Pro won't be out until 2018.
Plus, if it is Intel-Based, games will continue to be in Windows - no reason to put it on OS X...
