I just don't see any weight to this argument - at least not more than confirmation bias. And Beats? Any Wireless Beats (that aren't refurbished or old) are all more expensive than AirPods. People who spend $299 on a pair of Beats don't see AirPods as expensive. And there's already an explosion of accessories to customize how you wear AirPods:

Even getting one of each of those with a pair of AirPods would be less than some other wireless earbuds on the market.
Okay, I'll simplify it for you. Most iPhone buyers will not buy airpods, they will use the headphones that come with the phone. If they don't use these most people will choose something else other than airpods, because they are more familiar with the design. Just look around you. This isn't my opinion, this is what is actually happening.
