That is my point. People that are saying Apple is choosing to work on features that we bitch about is simply not true, otherwise, we would have those features as they are the most bitched about. Did you even read my entire post?

The app is free today. Get it now before it goes back to 99 cents. Be sure to do the hack "before" updating to 2.2.1. There is another emoji enabling app but it costs 3.99 although it still does work in 2.2.1. You can safely delete the free app after you have enabled the keyboard and update to 2.2.1 afterwards.

I have the same problem! :confused:
-Im still on 2.1 though but I dont think that is the problem.
-My Jap keyboard will not go away now even though I have turned it off.
-Only have two options under keyboard (Qwerty, Kana) no Emoji.

Anyone else have this issue?

Emoji wasn't added until 2.2. Upgrade to 2.2, then try.

Not having 2.2 is your issue. The emojis were not added until 2.2, this is causing the issue for you.

So for me to get this working should I
-delete the app then upgrade to 2.2 or
-upgrade my phone only to 2.2

Just upgrade to 2.2. No need to delete anything. Make sure you don't accidently upgrade to 2.2.1 before getting emoji working or you'll be screwed until the app is updated like so many on here.

So is there a free way to get it other than the typing "e' and getting a big list of the icons. I'm just not willing to pay any money to enable something that is actually already on my phone.
 
i have 2.2.1 and i got emoj working fine. so idk what everyone is talking about. it sucks though if the last thing you were sending was emoji icons and u click home and go back to your text message it doesn't go to the qwerty keyboard it is still on the emoji is that normal?

The Frostyplace app was set to free for 24 hours but it looks like you already missed out on that. Even still it is only .99 cents... With the Frostyplace app you get the real Emoji keyboard, not a huge list that you have to delete all of the ones you do not want to print out.

Yeah, I know, but it's just one of those things that matters so little to me that I'm not going to pay $1 for something I'll get such little use out of (very few of the people I text have iPhones).

When did you install frostplace? before you upgrade to 2.2.1 or after your iphone was on 2.2.1
if you install app while ur phone was on 2.2 then it works fine for everybody...
but if you install app after 2.2.1 then let us know wht u did for making it work...

So I guess you just skipped out on reading like, half the replies?
 
i did it after 2.2.1 and i did just as the tutorial said. downloaded frosty place, clicked on a story or 2 and then went into settings and clicked emoji on. idk it worked for me.

Either you're mistaken, or they've fixed the app. Anyone with 2.2.1 want to try again and see if its working now?

that App version thats available for d/l is still 1.1.1 ......so im going to guess that it still doesnt work with the 2.2.1 update.
