Uhhh.. will Apple be issuing refunds?
This is bull****.

Yet... Touch Dial Emoji, which is SO blatant, remains available for purchase. Never change Apple.

I don't get who it harms by allowing it? Will capitalism fall to the commies? Nuclear holocaust? Seriously, it's some stupid little faces.

THIS. Man.. I couldn't agree with you more. Absolute joke IMO.

It should just include it in the Japanese keyboard setting on the US phone.

I use the Japanese keyboard all the time, why the **** can't I use emoji?

Oh right, I live in america.

****

Yeah, god forbid iPhone users WANT TO USE EMOTICONS.

*sigh*

Get your ****ing priorities straight, Apple.

I have got the emoji's working but i just want to check, sending them in text messages doesn't cost anything extra than the rest of the text does it? The main reason I wonder is on the apple site where it talks about emoji's it states that you need a specific japanese sim card.

Also, why was this feature only available on japanese iphones?

A bit paranoid but want to check this isn't costing me more that a normal text!

Also are these already in the iphone and this is just a way of unlocking them or is it on the apps themselves?

Why this was never included outside of Jpn is just stupid. Having to jailbreak to get this feature that is already built in is ludicrous and to pay $0.99 for it is even more absurd.

Everyone can use emoticons for any purpose - this is worse than not having copy & paste - especially when this is already built in to the iPhone software.

Emoji are a character set only found on Japanese mobile phones, if they hadn't disabled them on non-Japanese iPhones then you'd get a bunch of people SMSing their friends and wondering why only blank squares come up. Which is EXACTLY what's happened now that every mouth-breathing moron can unlock them using these apps.

Idiots are the reason Apple do a lot of the things they do, so stop bawwing about it.

Fair enough, but by now they should realize that only iPhone 3Gs can see the emoticons. If not then don't worry about them, it's not like Apple is listening to us anyway. If that were true we would have MMS, copy & paste, video recording, iChat, emoticons (some US handsets do support this feature) and countless other popular requests...

I still have emoji on 2.2.1

what I did was, before upgrading to 2.2.1, meaning I had 2.2, I bought frostyplace, installed it...clicked on the link, and went to settings to enable emoji. It was fine.

Then, I deleted the app, upgrade to 2.2.1, and I still have emoji.

Um... Most new phones have those things already so Apple disabling it is pretty stupid. I sent the emoji to a few people to see what it looked like on other phones and it showed up because their phones also had it. I live in American btw.

It probably does for simple characters like a smiley or something, but not for 95% of the characters in the emoji set. So no, it's not stupid, especially since some older phones won't be able to read the message at all if there's just one emoji in it.

Error 2.2.1

I get the same error trying to use this app with 2.2.1... It will not enable the keyboard because of this error... I think the only choice I have is to downgrade the phone and run the program or wait for an update with the application...

I can read Japanese, but thats probley a security error trying to enable that keyboard... can anyone verify

If only you had read the topic:) It is Traditional Chinese, and it says ‘Timeout’.

If you can read Japanese it should be blatantly obvious that, that app is not in Japanese.

It actually says in the blurb before you download it

"The most popular feature of what this app does is not working with 2.2.1 right now, we have a new version submitted to apple..."

Do people read nothing before they hit install?

I purchased the app BEFORE they added that blurb.
So let's not always assume.
