Did you install the app on your iPhone while running 2.2.1?

yes i did...mistake...
i install 2.2.1 first and then i find out about emoj...so i install app yesterday while it was free but as they say on app that it is not working on 2.2.1...

So why exactly isn't there a free version out there? A few pages back a guy gave us the code as to what to write in the app (don't know if that actually works or not) but as we saw with Sound grenade all you have to do is put an advertisement on it and you'll make a bunch of money. That guy was bringing in over $200 from ad money!

Yeah, I know, but it's just one of those things that matters so little to me that I'm not going to pay $1 for something I'll get such little use out of (very few of the people I text have iPhones).

I know what you mean. I only know two people with an iPhone and I only txt one of them. It would be nice if the US carriers would create a set standard for emoticons like Japan carriers do that way all phones would be capable of sending the emoticons (maybe even the same standards so the US and Japan users would be able to send them back and forth from any phone).

Quick summary:

1. It doesn't look like Apple disabled Emoji in the 2.2.1 update.
2. It looks like the Frostyplace app broke in the 2.2.1 update, so you can't enable emoji if you didn't run the app under 2.2.

Additional:

You don't need to buy Frostyplace if you're a developer or know one. They just need to make a program that includes this code:

Code:
- (void)enableEmoji {
 NSString *filePath = @"/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preferences.plist";
 NSMutableDictionary* plistDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath];
 [plistDict setValue:@"1" forKey:@"KeyboardEmojiEverywhere"];
 [plistDict writeToFile:filePath atomically:NO];
}

After distributing through Ad-Hoc, you run that once then enable the Emoji keyboard in Settings.

Or jailbreak instead. :)

If any developer is feeling kind enough to make an app and distribute via ad-hoc, i would be very interested :)

Who needs emoji when you can have this?? :D:D

Actually I use this all the time and showed my dad so now it's our main form of communication. :)
