Just upgraded to a new iPhone SE 3... Previous phone? iPhone SE 1. My whopping 1 GB of cellular data got a nice 5G upgrade.

So glad I surround myself only with people who have zero concern for what device I have. I'll be judged on having a new device long before I would be chided for the old iOS device in my pocket... Criticism resulting from the net greenhouse gas emissions my new purchase causes. (kidding, yup nobody really cares about what phone I use.)

Others? I welcome their criticism; I could care less about ones' opinions over what I spend my money on. I'll go easy on them, those people have spent most of their own lives living with the pain of their own insecurities.

Dare to be different!

I'm a 36 year old curmudgeon and you kids get off my lawn.

I'm still using an iPhone 6s and have no plans to upgrade. For me, nothing the newer generations have justifies the loss of the headphone jack. And it does what I need it to do, which is not much, since I generally don't like doing stuff on a smartphone. Glad I don't surround myself with people who judge me based on the phone I own or the clothes I wear or the stuff I have. But to each their own.

I couldn't care less even if they completely changed the design - I'm not upgrading from my 13Pro Max at all. I'll upgrade the OS to iOS16 and it will most likely get that 'new' feeling - you know, that feeling that goes after 2 days anyway.
These handsets are getting far too expensive for a yearly upgrade cycle - that and the fact that the hardware updates are small in comparison to the cost.

No, users 13 series and below won’t be outdated. They will simply be the iconic notch design, or classic forehead/chin bezel design.

Software keeps older (not outdated) designs fresh. And considering you will be the only one knowing exactly what series you have, unless you’re sharing your model on MacRumors to thousands, or handing your phone to someone to show them a photo and they notice a forehead/chin/notch/i-hole punch, it doesn’t matter.

Buy what you want. Use what you want. Keep what you want. 😋

I don’t think anybody except teenagers and stubborn older adults will be worrying whether or not their iPhone has a notch or not lol. Away from Mac Rumours I’ve never encountered anybody that really cares.

The iPhone 14 Pro will still have cameras in the screen and from the leaks it’s still a notch but with a tiny strip of screen above. Clever marketing to convince consumers that it’s wildly different when in fact it’s not really. The standard 14 will likely have a notch like the previous models so the notch will still be ‘in date’ with Apples trends. Just get whatever you fancy and don’t worry about minor aesthetics

Clever marketing on Apples part.
Since the majority of iPhone users are anti-notch, this will spur them into upgrading without any other justification necessary! 😀
And you've polled them all? More like .01% of iPhone users are anti-notch and the other 99.9% don't give a flying frack. (Yes, I have polled them all :))

While Apple is getting rid off the notch in iPhones they just added it to MacBooks for absolutely no good or technical reason. This is either monumental stupidity or a brilliant marketing move by pissing off people and then making them happy.

Here I am just re-using my iPhone 6s 64GB iOS 15.6 RC after it got repaired [was down and out for quite some time] while still using my iPhone 7 Plus 128GB iOS 15.6 RC purchased new in November 2020 and at the same time thinking about purchasing a pre-owned iPhone 11 Pro 128GB once I have enough funds...

If you don't want it, don’t buy it. We have this choice every year. I prefer a new Max Pro yearly and trade in my old device so it cuts the price in half.
I trade mine in too, yearly. I used to sell them myself to make a lil more cash, but it gets costly with shipping and insurance. Then you’re stressed about it reaching them, will they like it, etc…

I used to do the same but found it better to just trade it in to Apple. Not the most cost effective but bullet proof!

Being anti-notch doesn’t mean pro-pill and punch hole… I’ll be waiting on something less intrusive before upgrading my 12 Mini.

I thought I was gonna read ANYTHING serious... but its probably another fortnite 15 yro kid that is posting using his dad's macroumors account.

This is the only way your life wasting topic can make any sense... now go get your new iphone with daddy's money so you can flash it at your buddy's at school. Hey! maybe you get invited to prom by that popular girls at school too, I'm sure she will leave the kid using daddy's camaro for the guy that has the last NO NOTCH iphone 14.

Dad's... I know in some countries it is considered some kind of abuse but... giving your kid a good spank on severe cases, can help them put things under perspective, so they don't sound in society like so sort of reject that doesn't have any self esteem of its own.

There you go... you made me read your trash post, and now I trash all of your insecurities out.

You have anywhere between 1 and 364 DAYS to ever have the absolute latest from Apple's iPhone PERIOD. The 365th day means jack to most people. The 13 Pro is a terrific phone. Just wish there was an HDR processing toggle.

I cannot justify the cost of new iPhones, and want to actually own my devices instead of my cellular provider. So, my new strategy is to wait until the latest iPhone is 3-4 years old, buy it for a third of the price with upgraded storage (upgraded storage models are usually better taken care of by their previous owners) from an Amazon Renewed seller, keep it for three years or so, then buy another 3-4 year old iPhone. As I purchased an iPhone XS last February, my next iPhone will probably be the 13 or 14, but I probably wont be getting it until sometime after the iPhone 16 comes out.
