Sunrise hasn't really changed in the past week... maybe by a minute at most. We're close to the solstice so there isn't much change. Sunset is getting a little later due to the elliptical-orbit-related portion of the analemma.

The complication is stuck on sunrise all the time. All the time. 24 hours a day. The same sunrise time. All the time.

It's sweet that you're making excuses for Apple but the truth is this piece of [redacted] doesn't [redacted] work.

Sounds like voodoo and hogwash to me. I would ask a scientist for their opinion.

Just tried that. Now I'm worse off. The sunrise/sunset complication went back to being stuck on sunrise from a week ago and now the astronomy face doesn't know where I am and the solar face thinks I live on the equator or somewhere. The maps app knows where I am, but it would be too much to think that it would then tell the watch faces.

Like I say, this watch is [redacted].

It's like your location services aren't fully working - all those issues are location related, I'm a bit surprised your maps are working since it seems like all location access is toggled by that single switch.

All my location related stuff seems fine, just some minor inconsistencies in the data, like the sunset Comp says 8:27p, but Dark Skies (awesome app) shows 8:29p (could be where the data is sourced). Heck, my phone is even upstairs in the opposite corner of the house and I'm accessing it via WiFi :)

I admit I'm being a ranty nutjob. Though isn't that what these forums are for? To help crazed people work through their issues?

I think this is the most honest post I've ever seen on MacRumors. I laughed so loudly that I disturbed my next door office neighbor.

I'm sorry you are having these issues. My watch works flawlessly. Honestly. It is possible. :)

Just wondering if you have contacted Apple about this problem ?
If so what did they say ?
If not why ?

No, I haven't. My confidence in Apple support was lost entirely during "three parts or four parts"-gate. I have zero confidence they know what they're talking about.

My Apple fandom is being sorely tested at the moment. I've paid nearly a grand for a watch. I expect it to work.

1. The sunrise/sunset complication doesn't work. This is clearly a known issue as there are threads in here and elsewhere complaining about it.

2. Today the weather app won't work. Two dashes where the temperature is supposed to be. The app won't load. Just a blank screen and the stupid white balls spinning forever.

3. Again, as others have observed, the hugely expensive link strap appears to have a design flaw: half the time it doesn't click shut. You think it has, then seconds later it snaps open again.

I'm not interested in being told about this being a first gen product. I'm not interested in being told to restart or unpair. I'm not interested in sending it back. I expect it to work. That's what happens when you spend a thousand pounds on a watch: you expect it to work.

Fewer smug presentations, Apple, more actually getting your **** together.

My weather complication didn't work yesterday. This is the second time it happened. Had to restart it couple times and my phone and it showed up later on. I know sometimes people go all out and money is not a problem, but why would you buy that expensive link band? I know it looks good, but its not worth it. For half as much you can get a sport model and a leather loop band, and it will still look nice. I doubt you will be able to swap it when next watch gets released.

You say these forums are for people to get help. You are moving out of that into just sounding like a jerk good luck with your watch

To be honest, the big mistake was buying such an expensive model.
If you'd gone for a 42mm Sport, u would not have been so upset - I guarantee that.

Apple can charge what they like -I've no problem with that - but I also understand you're just coughing up pure cream when you upscale your purchase.

eg. Edition - a $400 watch with max $1500 worth of gold - and you sell it for $12000!

It took me a while to figure out what "gate" you are talking about, but I finally realized that you must be thinking about the confusion regarding the small/large Sports bands. Granted, Apple had some miscommunication going on among the support staff, but it's a new product, and none of the support people had actually seen one. And yes, I expect that many support staff or even Geniuses at Apple stores will have no clue how to deal with the issues you are experiencing. But that's part of what you sign up for when you buy a first gen product in an entirely new category. If you don't want to deal with that, then perhaps you should return/sell your watch and try again with the next gen.

It's stuck on the sunrise time from a week ago. Nothing fixes it.
I thought it was just mine. It has been blank for quite a while, in the last few days its just shoing sunrise.

It did used to work though so I'm sure it will get fixed in due course.

The last time I had a similar problem (weather temp showed dashes), they blamed my iOS beta and wouldn't help me at all. Haven't tried the sunrise/sunset yet.

I did have this issue yesterday morning, the 17th. It was showing weather conditions, temps and black info "--" from Monday June 15, 4:45pm ET - just after the watch was delivered via UPS. I turned the watch off, then back on. I tweaked some of the settings on iPhone. I haven't had a problem since. The solar face, yes the sunset appears to be off by a few minutes on my end. I read about that a few weeks ago and I hope it will be addressed in the next update.

3rd party apps (SkyView, Living Earth, Instagram) Those had some pretty slow lags when loading on the first day. It's better as of right now since I rebooted the watch. Takes maybe 4,5 seconds to load up.

There is an issue I am having. The watch shows my music that's on my iPhone but I can't hear anything. Watch looks like it's playing a song but then stops - then automatically starts playing my iTunes Radio - with no volume. I can't seem to turn that off - I hit Pause, it then goes back to play.

Oddly, when I try to open "Music" > "Radio" on my iPhone, that app keeps crashing or freezing up. Some kind of crazy conflict..no idea.

For the past 3 hours it's showing "Now Playing Oasis 'Wonderwall' from 90's Pop Hits Radio" on my Glances. I will assume this tiny issue is killing my battery lifetime just a tad. Umm...odd. I removed the Music from my Glances.

Battery life in general, so far I'll just say it's ok.

When friends of mine start experiencing this level of aggravation with something I generally advise them to just return the product. I suggest you do the same. You and I ordered around the same time, so I think you're still within your return window.

Usually I defend Apple but I'm on your side on this one Matt. It seems like Apple showcases new features and it takes like 6 months of patches to get it to where it should have been at launch and by the time it's working as intended the next new OS is around the corner.

I have the same watch and band that you describe and I am not having the issues that you described.

I would recommend the following:
Call Apple support or
Schedule a Genius appointment at your local Apple Store or
Return the Apple Watch for a refund or
Live with what you have.

Best of luck to you with whatever you decide to do.

Later Tater!

I'm having a bad day. I've calmed down. The brandy is helping.

I'm not sending the watch back. I like it. It's pretty. The strap is temperamental. It's not so annoying that I'm going to send it back for an exchange.

It's just annoying when things don't work. Especially when Apple's alleged USP is precisely that it's so much better than Windows/Android etc because it just works. Indeed, wasn't that one of their advertising catchphrases once?

Now that you put it that way, I agree, the watch doesn't "just work." I skipped the original iPhone, but I did have the original iPod touch, and to my recollection, that device did not do much (until it got the software update that gave it apps), but the things that it did, just worked.

I'm inclined to give Apple a pass on this, because as I said before, it is a first gen device. I think we got spoiled when the original iPhone/iPod touch was such a perfected device from the get-go. Most new device categories come with growing pains. I remember the first Macintosh computers -- it took forever for apps to load, and often crashed to sad faces. I decided they were useless and happily typed my papers on the mainframe, LOL. Compared to the state of the first Macintosh, the watch is leaps and bounds ahead!

This is partly Apple's own fault. The way they market and hype their own products leads to sky high expectations. The faintly sinister way in which senior staff are almost worshipped when they give their keynotes as if they're announcing cures for cancer. Remember, the steel used to make Apple Watches is some kind of magic steel that they invented and which they make in special foundries; the brushed steel is licked by kittens who have been reared on unicorn milk . . .

Everyone on here keeps telling me it's a first gen product, but Tim Cook didn't say that. He didn't say, "this product is pretty great, but there'll be some teething difficulties, so bear with us". He hyped this thing up to be the most astonishing invention since the wheel.

I think a lot of the issues people come across is because they are expecting an iPhone on their wrist which the apple watch isn't and never will be. It's a watch first and foremost and it's a pretty good one at that with tons of potential for growth as a unique platform.

I just took all the hype with a grain of salt.

I remember seeing a mash-up video of all the times from a single keynote where Steve Jobs said "magical." It was hilarious.
