I don't follow. The S6 Edge is the same size as the S7, at 5.1". You'd be much better off getting the S7 over the S6 Edge.

I believe he means the S7 EDGE which is now 5.5" screen. I left iOS in August, swapped my iPhone 6 for a Samsung Galaxy S6, I lasted until November when I got my 6S Plus.

I to got tired of the iPhone 6s+ and purchased the Galaxy S7 Edge. Smaller than the iPhone 6s+ but with the same screen size for easier handling. As for which one is better ? Both are very good phones, but the 6s+ wider and a bit more difficult to hold, along with the Galaxy screen being really nice, SD card slot, water resistant, I dumped the iPhone and hope for the best with the Galaxy/Android

In fact the s6 edge is slightly bigger in terms of the device itself when comparing dimensions.

No its not...

No its not...

S6 edge dimensions
142.1. X 70.1 X 7mm

S7 dimensions
142.4 X 69.6 X 7.9 mm

This is the information I found online. Unless that information is incorrect the s6 edge is ever so slightly larger on width, slightly shorter in height, but 10% thinner. The pictures you posted make me think you are comparing the iPhone 6s plus, but that's not what the OP was referring to. OP mentioned wanting the s6 edge over the s7 due to size. (Now, this my have been a typo and the OP meant to refer to the s7 edge. We done know.) Another poster was wondering why as they seem to be the same at which point I responded that the s6 edge is actually larger. True, it's only larger in width, but that's one of my main criteria when choosing a phone, height being the same.

I hope that clears up any confusion in my responses.

I just got the same phone, except I didnt own the iPhone 6s Plus, I own the iPhone 6s. I had the Plus for a couple weeks, but it was way too big for me, the samsung s7 edge has the perfect size and its crazy its the same screen size as the 6s Plus. Im still debating which one will be my main phone. This is the first time i own an android device so it's been a big change for me. I still love iOS more than android and I'm sure this won't change, I just need Apple to release a new iPhone plus that feels better in my hands and then I'll switch back.

I really want an S7 Edge as well, but for a primary phone. However, the power that carriers have over Android makes it a nonstarter for me. I don't like the idea of waiting months for vital security updates and new features.

They don't really do that..... To an extent. They will push security updates in a somewhat timely manner but the big updates will sometimes get delayed. HTC has promised to get updates pushed to carriers in 90 says and from my experience with Samsung it isn't terribly bad with AT&T or T-Mobile. Had a Note 4 with Verizon but only for a few months.

I really like the fact that the AMOLED screen lets you have the clock on while the rest of the screen is off.

I have hope that Apple will implement this at some point to allow for live notifications on the lockscreen without having to turn the screen on to check.

I have too much crap that works with Apple stuff to switch to a Samsung (or any other Android) phone. That's just the sad state of affairs in this house.

I've seen on various forums that even though Samsung releases monthly updates, the most recent security update pushed to the S6 Verizon was in November.

Some time around 2017-2018 - maybe. No one knows. It's pure speculation, entirely a rumor and could be totally unfounded and false!

In other words, don't believe it - until Apple delivers it.

It almost makes me want to wait until they do and stick with my iPhone 6 plus

Yeah, we (my wife and I) will have to wait for the next go around if they deliver next year. We'll be getting the 7 this year and after finally being back on track for the numbered upgrade path (I do not care to be on the 'S' upgrade path although I currently have the 'S' model) it'll be 2.5 to 3.5 years before we replace that phone.

That's also one carrier who is notoriously slow in updating their devices like from 4.3 to 4.4 or etc. Security updates is frequent with most devices I have seen from T-Mobile and AT&T. I had AT&T from 2010 until 2012 with and iPhone then 2012 until 2014 with Android. From March 2014 until November of 2014 I had T-Mobile with an Android device. Then from November 2014 until March 2015 I had Verizon also with an Android device. Got a nexus 6 at first with sprint but switched for an iPhone 6 plus. With AT&T and T-Mobile security updates were pretty much pushed out quickly. I can't comment on Sprint or Verizon since either I haven't had the device longer than 24 hours or a few months

Yeah I had a S phone only once being my first with the iPhone 3GS. Upgrade early with an early upgrade offering of $400 for the iPhone 4 at launch. My next iPhone is my current iPhone 6 plus. I was planning on getting the 7 but with my upgrade avaliable in March 2017 it might be worth it to wait for the S and see if it comes with the Amoled screen

Somewhere, my old Sprint HTC Touch Pro is still waiting for it's very first Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Windows Update!

All I got in 2010 was a Sprint HTC ROM update. :(

Lol. I would honestly love to use a windows 10 device since A) I use Microsoft products like a windows 10 laptop and a Xbox one. The only issue that has and still is preventing me trying one out is the lack of apps in the app store. If devs made their apps for Windows 10 mobile I would bet money Microsoft mobile OS would be a strong contender in the mobile market. The OS is really simple to use so for people who just want a simple OS like iOS windows 10 could be another option.

iPhone truly was magical when it first came out. Now it's just an item of necessity to maintain social and work life. Go back to using phones like Motorola Krzr for a month or so, and come back to iPhone. It would be magical all over again!

That being said, phones before smartphone era looked very interesting... All smartphones look the same these days, but all the phones had unique designs and characteristics back then

Honestly the only interesting device in the pipeline is the Motorola modular device and to an extent the LG G5 looks pretty cool with its modular bottom thing.

WinMo was great. My problem with the Touch Pro was HTC and their crappy locked down Sense UI. I fixed that over time but the default was awful.

If Apple continues it's march towards conformity amongst it's customers my next purchase after the 7 will be a Windows phone.

Neither the hardware or the software is the preeminent issue. It's what you can do with it. And you can bloody well do just about everything.
[doublepost=1457504682][/doublepost]Also, posts that use the word lame and boring are boring and lame.

Unlike you I have used Android devices first hand
Unlike me? You don't know anything about me. I've been with Android since the G1. Owned countless HTCs, LGs, and every Galaxy since the S3. I've been left with a bad taste due to carriers with every phone.

How do you find Touchwiz compared to iOS ? I find it very slow, laggy and bloatware filled. Has that changed ?

Cheers !
It's greatly improved over the way it used to run on my Note 2 and 3. I haven't felt the need to use a different launcher. I think the specs handle the UI very fluidly. I'm pretty satisfied. I'll eventually get the S7 Edge but I think I might wait a few months as I'm slowly adjusting to getting bigger phones again.
