So I got my case(es) on Monday and looks like there are more than a few people looking for feedback on it.
Initial Impressions: Before I get to that, be sure to read this whole post as my initial impressions aren't the same as my lasting impressions. That said when I first opened up the package I was a little dissapointed in the pieces, they seemed unpolished and what's the word, not high build quality. Seemed a little rough to be honest.
Then came the task of installing it, and trying to do so with ghost armor full body. I had a very difficult time getting the case via the attached instructions (also having watched the video). So I figured it must be the ghost armor, so I took off the body parts that went along the steel band, leaving the front and back protector on. I continued to struggle. Eventually I came to the conclusion that the instructions arent the best way to install it and you should actually start from the bottom and finish at the top, made things much easier.
Now the signal issue: So I work in a building that is HEAVILY shielded. I usually get 1 bar in my pocket, and 2-3 if I'm holding my phone. The first day with this case my signal dropped to zero in my pocket and 0-1 when holding it. Needless to say this was frustrating. I had a hard time sending text messages and my battery was just destroyed dying before I left work when I can usually have anywhere from 20-40% when leaving depending on usage.
During the course of that day, I became almost disheartened because I fell in love with the look and feel of the case throughout the day. Combined with the customizability of the pieces I thought I'd finally found a suitable case for what I wanted. A bumper style case that shows off the phone, incorporates Aluminum, adds minimal bulk, is flashy, and not ridiculously expensive.
The solution: After figuring out the trick to putting the case on I started to think, ya know, maybe the full body pieces will fit with the case, so I decided to reinstall them, this time SGP Ultra Matte Steel band coverings (only full body side pieces I had lying around). Once installed I put the case on no problem.
So did it work? Yes! At work I'm now getting one bar in pocket and 2-3 again when holding it. I'm sure there is still some effect on the signal, but doesnt seem to be much! I left work today with over 50% battery life! No more constant searching for signal.
So if you are considering this case, I'd definitely recommend some full body side pieces to be installed to keep the aluminum from touching the antenna band, for me, it worked!
Anyway, loving the case and thought I would share my impressions. Sorry if my punctuation or grammar sucked on this post, I typed it on my 4s, which is enough of a pain in the ass, so forget proofreading or fixing errors. lol
