Sorry to hear you're having troubles as well. I don't think it's to do with the latest iOS as I have IOS10 on my phone. If you don't and you're having trouble that rules that out although being the first iteration of a new OS I had half thought that the slowness might be to do with that. Watch OS3 isn't available yet so it's not that. My pro subscription is still working but I've tried everything I can think of and still no joy.

Like you I've emailed support but nothing yet. Will post again when I hear anything.

UPDATE: I maybe wasn't clear before. The new version 5 IS working on my iPhone 5. I've also managed to get it working on my watch using the Classic app and it seems to be fine. The strange thing is both the classic version and Golfshot plus now look the same on the phone. However, Golfshot plus crashes on opening every time on the watch.

UPDATE 2 . Just received email from support. They confirm that there is a bug with Golfshot Plus and their suggested workaround is to install the ordinary Golfshot app and that should work On the watch. ( really just what I've said above). They say a fix is on the way.

FYI, I had the same issue with Golfshot Plus version 5.0 and they recommended downloading Golfshot version 3.0. Also, I found it confusing that they have two different apps that appear to have the exact same functionality. I confirmed with them that if you have a legacy lifetime membership or the Pro membership (I paid for it this year because the legacy lifetime doesn't have all the Apple Watch features) the Golfshot Plus and Golfshot apps function exactly the same. Frankly, the Golfshot app seems much more stable so I'll be sticking with that unless they do something in the future to differentiate the Plus from the regular app (I think they should just have 1 app with different subscriptions).

Yeh I got the same response. Unfortunately I didn't get the response before playing a round today. So I didn't get it try out the updated app. The slowness isn't due to the OS. It's entirely the app...as there were previous app versions that were much quicker to give updated yardages.

Looks like a new update is out that supposedly fixes the issues mentioned here...especially slow app watch response. I'm hoping they brought it back to what it used to be. Will test it out sometime this week and post back.

Tried out the latest update...Yardage updates on the Apple Watch seem to be improved. Next round I'll try to change the GPS settings on the phone back to what I had before, to see if it's as fast as it was before they messsed it up.

After a few updates that broke the Apple Watch app the most recent update is fixed. Played a round this past weekend and the app performed well. I would say that the yardage updates were maybe a few seconds slower than I would have preferred from time to time, but it never failed to give me the information I needed. Also, I really appreciate the yardage to landmarks and hazards something I use frequently during my rounds.

Latest update on the watch has been working well. I used it the past couple rounds and it updates within 2 seconds and the hazards were very useful and updated quickly as well.

A couple of questions from the new guy... I've seen a couple of comments regarding battery life on the iPhone but how does the watch itself fare after a 4 hour round? Also, any info or decent speculation on the new GPS feature of the Apple Watch 2? It would be perfect to play a round and not be tethered to the iPhone.

My Apple Watch 2 doesn't arrive until Friday, so I can't test the GPS until then. As for the battery life on the Apple Watch 1, both the phone and the watch do not suffer too much actually. I've got the background GPS set to 5 minutes (which means when I have the screen locked the GPS will only work for another 5 minutes before I unlock the phone and open the app again). I lock the phone between shots, and I just let the watch app run constantly while playing. The phone battery usually drops about 20-30%, and the watch is similar. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with how little battery the app uses while playing.

So far, the phone app dials in yardages almost immediately, but the watch app takes a little longer to update yardages, sometimes 10-15 seconds, but usually 5-10. I'm assuming the GPS and upgraded processor in the watch 2 will make yardages update much faster, so I'm really looking forward to it. The weather is turning to crap here, but I'm hoping I can get at least a round in with the watch 2 after it arrives.

Even with 5 hr rounds, I have no worry making the whole day....still end with ~30% left before going to bed. I haven't ordered the series two yet. I use my phone to keep score on golfshot...so I wouldn't be untethered anyway. Would it should make a difference in, is how fast you get updated yardages. I think ALOT of the current delay is the inital communication between waking the watch, connecting with the phone and then recieving updated yardages. I'm waiting to see if WatchOS 3 makes a difference with the Golfshot App...as the OS makes the watch a lot faster...and hopefully maybe get updated yardages in the background? I'll probably hold off getting series 2, until next spring/summer...as the only time I've taken off my apple watch was when I went in the pool.

Looks like they updated to ios10 and watchOS 3. Let's hope they improved user experience on the watch. Will post back once I get to try it out.

Yes, I've had a round today since the update for IOS10 & WatchOS3.
Went very smoothly, everything seemed quicker for distance updates, & very accurate.
The new score page on the watch is great, use the digital crown to select the score & putts to enter.
Now I'm wondering - do I need AW2?? Expecting delivery 27 September & I can still cancel. :(

I asked Golfshot about the Apple Watch Series 2 and if the watches GPS was utilized so that it would not have to be tethered to the iPhone sand received this reply: "Yes, to obtain all the features for the Apple Watch you will need to upgrade to the pro membership. Yes, Golfshot is compatible with the new Apple Watch series 2. Golfshot will utilize the GPS on the watch but the app won't work natively on the watch. You will still need the iPhone for the bluetooth connection."

I assumed that you would need the iPhone to load the course and start the round but for me the distances on the watch were still linked to the iPhone and it didn't seem to utilize the watch's GPS.

I actually bought the Apple Watch Series 2 yesterday and purchased the pro membership predicated on this response so, as you can imagine, I'm not too pleased.

Thanks for that info.
I have the "Golfshot Plus" membership & that seems to give me all the watch features.
Plus is a one off purchase, you can find it at iTunes, App Store, Sports, Shotzoom Software.
I think I would be asking for a refund (you can do it through iTunes: http://www.imore.com/how-to-get-refund-itunes-app-store). Then purchase the "Golfshot Plus" App.
Based on your info I may cancel my AW2.

I already had the "Golfshot Plus" app, been using it since the original Golfshot Classic on my iPhone. Went to a Garmin S6 and then X40 watch and loved it so figured the AW2 would be a perfect fit. Sold the Garmin on eBay, bought the AW2 and upgraded my Golfshot Plus to Pro for the additional features (hazards, etc.) and after all that crap I'm back to where I was two years ago!

Just curious, the GolfShot site says you can get distances to the center of the hole with the watch without the Pro annual membership. Were you getting just that, or were you getting front, center, back along with hazards? Thank you.

Yes with Plus, I get front, back & centre.
I've only used it once with the latest update along with WatchOS 3 & haven't looked for the "flyover" or hazards since.
Can now use the digital crown for entering scores & putts.

I finally got to test the new Apple Watch Series 2 a couple days ago. Yardages updated very quickly; significantly quicker than the first gen Apple Watch. I can comfortably rely on getting quick yardages from the new watch rather than pulling out my iPhone to get yardages faster than the old watch.

Just to make sure I understand... you tried the new iWatch with on board GPS and received much faster yardages? I'm guessing that the watch needs to send the GPS info back to the phone which then sends back info the phone... am I guessing that correctly? If so... I wonder if this is faster than updated software on first gen watches... thoughts?

That is correct. My old Apple Watch was a first gen with watchOS 3, so I can confirm that the Apple Watch Series 2 (with onboard GPS) is faster at updating yardages. I'm guessing it's probably in part to the faster processor (I cannot confirm anything about the new/old Apple Watch Series 1 with faster processor) and partly due to the GPS. Rather than having to wait for the iPhone to send all the info over, the Apple Watch Series 2 can now do most of it on its own. But without access to a new Series 1 to compare it to, I can't confirm the onboard GPS is helping that much, or if it just comes down to the much faster processor.

Thanks for this info... very helpful. Here's what I'm wondering though... you say that the watch can do most of the work on it's own... but the course maps are not on the watch, they're still on the phone I assume. I suppose it could be doing basic math and getting the distance to the pin when you're at the tee and then just subtract yardage as you play. Also if you do club recommendations... that requires info from the phone too.

So... if anyone has the ability to compare the first gen watch to the second gen watch... that would be grand.

Hello....
I have used AW2 with Golfshot Plus for the last 2 days at golf.
TBH I can't really see any difference from AW1 running WatchOS 3.
Maybe when they rewrite the App to use the onboard GPS there may be a difference.
I am considering returning the AW2, but the fact we have full waterproof + improvement to use the onboard GPS hopefully on the horizon might be enough for me to keep?

I still haven't pulled the trigger on a watch yet but with the posts in this forum and the recent price drop, I'm thinking I will go with a series 0 or 1. Seems it works very well and still needs to be tethered to the phone, even with S2.

I've used the trial version of golfshot on my phone and it works great (never did figure out how to track fairways hit but that's not vital). Got an email for golfshot pro for $19.99 annually. Is that for a calendar year from the date of purchase, or for the rest of 2016? Wouldn't make sense to purchase now and only get a handful of rounds before it expires.

That's for calendar year. It's a great app! And the fairway tracking is in the scorekeeping screen. Just swipe to select whether you hit the fairway, or missed it left, right, short, or long.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I need to grab it up. I had a laser rangefinder but it is way off when compared to several different gps devices. Cost of repair/recalibration was as much as new one. This app worked great in my trial rounds so definitly going this route.

I am going to try Hole 19 later today as I tried Golfshot and didn't like it - seemed slow on my S2.
