Still working on this feature, no determined schedule for it. It is not an easy task for us.

For some DLNA servers, I think you can use DLNA server to add the subtitle on the server side.
Even when the feature is out, we need the server provide direct subtitle access, and some DLNA servers are not just a simple file server.

Hi,
when are you going to support subtitles via dlna/smb?

Thx.

my PopcornHour Mediaplayer Harddisk is recently having troubles with TV Series uploads by certain crews (not having audio on those), while Goodplayer performs flawlessly on them.

Thinking about getting an HDMI adapter now so i could just plug my iPad into the TV for watching certain releases.
But since the iPad has a 4:3 aspect ratio, will i have black frames on the sides AND the top and bottom or will the TV-out properly fill the entire screen?

also - Feedback!: if possible, maybe add some sort of "remaining storage capacity" indicator to the UI.
This would be useful in the Wi-Fi receiver mode (i had a 4.3 gig movie upload fail at 95% because i didn't check before, but also in the FTP client.
Or you could have the FTP client prevent you from queueing downloads that would exceed your currently free space.

If you use video mirroring of iPad 2 for tv-out, the output is always 4:3, and the app could not nothing on it.
If GoodPlayer TV-out is used, the tv-out resolution is 1024x768 now, we need add more tv-out resolution option in the future.

About "remaining storage capacity" indicator , it a good idea, we will try to add it.

Goodplayer is a great app, however for some reason MP4s don't play smoothley if they are over about 40MB or crashes and returns to the home screen of I turn on the plugin setting for my iPod. The files play fine on the "Downloads" app though

Could you please share a such mp4 file to us for checking?
You can upload it to Dropbox or other file sharing site.
Our email address: service@hustmobile.com

If the iPod plugin is on, nearly all the mp4 files should be played back smoothly. For app such "Downloads", it should use iPod plugin as well.
One possibility for the issue: the mp4 file is incomplete in GoodPlayer. Please check it.

I will try to ask some questions about specific hardware/software with GoodPlayer here. Since there are so much hardware/software out there we have not tested.
If you have the same hardware/software with GoodPlayer, please give some feedback. Thanks a lot.
The first one is My Book Live UPnP connection, is there anyone used it by any chance. Thanks.:)

Is SMB downloading broken? because everytime i select a file to download through SMB, the app closes and puts me back into my iphone screen

Please "Clear downloading list" from SMB download (click one SMB download item, a pop up menu will come out), then reboot the iPhone/iPad and try again.

My download folder is empty though, i have already tried removing everything, then deleting the app and reinstalling the app.

I can stream through smb, but can't download into my phone :(

Just tried the SMB download here, it is okay.

Is there anything special in your SMB downloading?
Username special character?
Password special character?
Folder name?
File name?

The current wifi transfer is awkward and slow
I have to point my browser to an IP address, really?

Yes, you need point your browser to an IP address. Is there any suggestion for this?

For wifi transfer speed, it is up to the wifi network. For speeding up, leave your wifi devices as close as possible to the wifi ap.

We are also working a WebDAV server for future wifi transfer.

How do I use SFTP streaming? I do not see an option for SFTP when pressing the globe icon.

Now it needs a direct URL such as "sftp://..." , then input/paste the URL to "Direct Media URL".

We are still working on the SFTP client, that is why we call it a basic SFTP streaming support.

A few questions before I buy this app. It may prove to be invaluable.

1) Will this support the just announced iPhone 4S and use both cores to decode?

2) Will this be able to playback 720p MKV on the iPhone 4S smoothly?

3) Does this support 10-bit MKV?

4) Does this support ASS subtitles?

Thank you! Primarily going to be using to watch anime if this works.

1) Yes, the code is not for iPad 2 only. So the iPhone 4S will support dual-core decoding too, however we need the iPhone 4S the verify this.
2) Just like iPad 2, some 720P mkv will be played back smoothly. Some are not, it depends on the video encoding parameters
3) Do not have 10-bit file to test. However I guess it does not support 10-bit, even it is supported, the 10-bit will be downgrade to 8-bit
4) Support partly of ASS subtitle, so we do not list it as an official feature

Thank you for your quick reply! Your reply is good enough for me to take a gamble for $2.99 and try it out. Can't wait for the iPhone 4S to arrive. :D

Here is a 10-bit h.264 MKV file (the standard of most anime now). The movie is unlicensed and isn't illegal. Can you try it on an iPad 2? I only have the original iPad so obviously I cannot test it...I can test it when my iPhone 4S arrives, but I'm quite eager for results now. xD

I think it would be good to test it because there is a huge shift towards 10-bit right now in the anime community, and I imagine many people may be buying for your app for watching anime (MKV + subs).

Thanks for the 10-bit file.

Here is test result on iPad 2:
[Commie] Fate ⁄ Zero - 01 [3A0CCD6B].avi
Video: looks okay, sometime the color seems incorrect, but I am not sure. You can try it on your iPad 1
Subtitle: looks okay
Overall: looks basically okay to play this video, but do not know if all the video details are okay

On Macbook Pro: tried several players, but all are failed to play this video
What kind of player do you use to play it on desktop?

Strange, why did it become .avi? It should be a .mkv file...

But anyway, MPlayerX from the App Store plays 10-bit files very well. I'm using my MacBook Air, so I'm sure MacBook Pros can play it perfectly. Here is the App Store link. It's free, since it's based on open-source codecs.
