More evidence and facts that American Consumer today is paying for all this today.Pre-Market Apple and Qualcomm are down now heading into bear market territory.
QCOM is down because of a favorable federal ruling for the FTC in its antitrust lawsuit against the company's dubious licensing practices.

The Verge is going to have a meltdown over this. I think they’ve written at least 10 articles about this so far. And for what? It’s not like Huawei’s phones are mind-blowingly better than other phones.
No, but they are among the best value around; best bang for the buck, most rubble for the ruble.

I like their Honor series phones, but not their variant of Android. I always custom ROM any phone I get my grubby mitts on.

I think that this is quite possible. If the US wants to tell China that they can not sell their products in America and are pushing for their products to be banned in other countries then I could see China banning Apple from China. Apple and others would be in trouble if it goes down that road.

They put a hold now on the release of the new Honor Smartphones

Just watched this Times interview. Politics aside I have to say that I gained a lot of respect for Ren. He did a masterful job of defending Huawei without being combative. There is another interview where he mentioned that support for Huawei should not mean avoiding Apple products and buying Huawei phones just because it is a Huawei product. Interestingly his family is a fan of Apple. Notably when his daughter was arrested in Canada, she was carrying an iPhone.

This is pretty good for those who see the pattern but remember how Trump did not like the fact that the world leaders came to a peace agreement with Iran and had said that he would rip up and void that agreement when he became President..? There was no evidence that they were doing anything bad but he did not like it so he was going to cancel the agreement and apply sanctions now here you see no evidence and he was pretty much going to ban US suppliers and others from doing business with Huawei whether it be buying from them or selling to them. In a way this is a form of sanction or boycott (reminds me of how a Boycott law was passed in the US that punished those that supported certain boycotts) :rolleyes:o_O
A case of “ok” when we do it but not ok when others do it so as long as it suits our agendas it is supposed to be ok.

With that said I would support the US banning products from Huawei known to contain spyware and dining Huawei for products sold in the US containing spyware but as we know is that no evidence has been provided. What Trump has said so far has been “Heresay..”

The bottom ones are good but you need to understand some Chinese to really understand why the US opposes the 5G technology from China. Their 5G Technology is quite advanced.

Here is some food for thought in this link. In Hong Kong when the extradition to China was put on hold the people in Hong Kong did not like it and started protesting it. Now Trump is putting ban on hold by delaying it and not removing it. Chinese in China want it removed just like the HK people want extradition law removed. Trump is doing what HK did with extradition ban delay. He is playing games to win more votes

The reason for Trade Ban as we all know is due to to the alleged backdoor/spy allegations. Which for one have not been proven and the irony and hypocrisy in this is this is what the US wants from Apple and Google from their Operating system/smartphones. Where is the evidence?

What are the odds that the US previously asked Huawei for a backdoor and is using this against Huawei now?

Is this sort of what the US Government asked from Apple and others including Huawei before? Now, where is the proof?

Interestingly on a similar note suspicion has been raised in Australia over the security risks of using a popular social network app called Tic Toc. This immensely popular platform for creating personal video casts has taken off like hot cakes around the world but as pointed out any social network app created in China is also accessible to the Chinese Govt. So if you want the Chinese Govt monitoring what your children do at university or what they do at work, home etc well, carry on.
I have to say this might be just knee jerk paranoia on the part of minority groups and the growing nationalistic, protectionist policies that seem to be sweeping the globe at this time but our government is giving it serious consideration. The Premier of Victoria uses it it seems and occasionally posts video grabs of his family and friends, hopefully not sessions of Parliament but you can see where this is going.
Personally I wouldn't have it on my phone but I'm not in the age group. I'm sure China has access to all the other social networks at a govt level anyway so what's one more?
