If Huawei is smart (and I am sure they are) they should not fight the US but focus on working out their own independent system and becoming self sufficient. They have a ready made large market waiting. They will hurt for the short term for sure, perhaps years to come. But to be honest I think it’s good for them in the long run.

From the US side I think they should just keep the ban. Once the cat is outta the bag Chinese companies will no longer trust America policy makers and they will embark on a path to self sufficiency and will not look back. Lifting the ban won’t stop them. At least make some money in the mean time.
China is doing just that for their Banking system for international money wire and for PetroYuan which is what this is really all about. They have always had to rely on US for banking and money transfers along with oil prices being in USD and all oil imports needing to clear via US if they wanted to buy an import oil from say Iran or Venezuela and in the past Libya and Iraq (just to name a few) . Having their own system is what some are not happy about. What exceeds all trade numbers between US and China is amount that passes through US banks for all trade and for all oil imports.

I can't see US lift a ban they put in place, if they are dead set against something..

Perhaps Heawei can still make money in the meantime, but this anti trust issue of not allowing to sell in certain countries fr the moment, excells.

Even Apple did it when they couldn't sell phones in Germany. They loose sales NOW, and every company just ignoring these ban's/anti-trust would be in the same thinking topology.... They all wanna make money... and as much as possible. So they're gonna fight, for it. Rather than settle for second best.

It is not about US only, this effects many more countries. The whole US CHINA trade wars have a huge negative impact on Japan also. I work in with shipping companies and the business losses are quite a big deal.
Thank you uncle Trumpsanction, may a large door knob hit you in the arse.

What's the problem with a communist regime?
Troll much?
[doublepost=1558531161][/doublepost]
Some things are really good and some things are beyond horrible. It’s like that even in non communist countries these days as well. This depends on what means most to that person. The same goes for countries in the Middle East under dictatorship rule where some things are great and others are beyond horrible as well.
Some things are really good? Loss of liberty can be really good?? WTF.

How come France trusts China, the UK trusts China, Germany trusts China, perhaps the USA is wrong?
Would you trust China?

WTF..? Why did you read only half the sentence and apply the bad as being good? :rolleyes:o_O

Well, without parts from Intel, Qualcomm and ARM, we won’t have to worry about having to put up with Huawei’s own proprietary, likely spyware riddled OS. They won’t be able to produce handsets anymore at all for the time being.

My prediction: they’re gone for good from western markets. I guess the Chinese will still buy the stuff once they’ve managed to copy the necessary parts for the domestic market.

This won’t be great for Google, though - Huawei’s own communist state OS has an excellent chance at replacing Android in China. Meaning that the entire market might be lost for Google. This might also spill over to Russia.

At the same time, Europe has started mobilizing against Google’s handling of European users’ private data. This and next year will undoubtedly be very tough on Google.

ARM cutting ties may be the most far-reaching problem yet for Huawei. They don't sell CPUs, but license CPU designs. Practically all widely used general-purpose CPUs other than Intel ones are based on ARM designs, including the entire line of CPUs that Huawei's HiSilicon subsidiary is developing for both mobile devices and cloud servers. This will effectively cut off any realistic possibility for them to develop their own CPUs to become independent of Qualcomm and Intel.

Got any evidense of this? Or just talking nonesense?

Any proof it’s not full of government backdoors? Considering that Huawei is a company run by government honchos?

Can’t believe how many people like China here - you do know this is a fanatical country, run by a dictatorship that goes to great length spying on its citizens every move - and anyone who doesn’t do exactly what the government wants ends up in “re-education” camps. Wake up people - this isn’t a Salvation Army business.

Does Windows have a backdoor or not? Doesn’t Google also screen emails..?

I don’t disagree with you about the negatives from China but we are not exactly angels here either.;)

You really believe the USA isn't spying on it's citizens? the UK isn't spying on it's citizens france isn't etc etc

This shows how much control the US Government has over tech firms. Those that talk about the communist regime in China having control over their tech firms need to keep something in mind as well.

Anbody has a clue if P30 Lite would get Android Q and all Play store services through its lifetime? Not for me, but to recommend to friends and relatives. :)

Not sure but I can tell you that I still get updates as of today from Google Play

As you can see it is not just Huawei that will suffer but companies listed in the US as well along with American investors who invested in companies like Qualcomm. Look what happened over the last couple of weeks to this stock and look at losses from today alone

Also look at Apple stock from around $215 to about $182 today

Why would Apple stock go down because of a Huawei ban? Must be unrelated?

Sure, but last time I checked they weren’t evil dictatorships that make those who don’t think along the party lines disappear.

Do you seriously believe we’d have this conversation if we lived in China?

Refraining from making wild accusations without a shred of evidence is not the same thing as liking China.
Is called being mature and realistic.

You do realize you’re making the same claims just the other way round? There’s one thing I know about people who call themselves “mature and realistic” - they’re not mature and realistic.

Honestly... are you mistaking me for someone else?
What claim have I made?

This has nothing to do with me.
It has everything to do with checking evidence based facts before making wild accusations.

More evidence and facts that American Consumer today is paying for all this today.Pre-Market Apple and Qualcomm are down now heading into bear market territory. Thursday is normally a reversal day today so let’s see if we get that reversal but if not then Market looks like it will be in trouble. We also had lower home sales reports this week and higher oil inventories. If China takes a hit then so will the US but the hardest hit will be felt by US consumers and US companies that have business interests in both China and the US as both of their sales numbers will be affected from Trump’s trade war with China.

The Verge is going to have a meltdown over this. I think they’ve written at least 10 articles about this so far. And for what? It’s not like Huawei’s phones are mind-blowingly better than other phones.

I have the P30 Pro and I think this is probably the only mind-blowingly better feature or option. Not sure about “Mind-blowingly” but it definitely is very very good as I tested the zoom capabilities myself.
