Google has a business built up around gathering information and extracting value from it a variety of ways. I'd prefer to be telling my secrets to Apple. Actually, I'd prefer to be telling my secrets to an entirely local/private AI-enabled voice device but alas, that is not something that is available right now and it'll be a some time before it is.

so is apple going to sue or do they only go for small(ish?) business like Apple Cinemas?

Do other companies wait until there’s an Apple rumor to then update their products, otherwise they won’t bother? HomePod mini hasn’t had any significant changes in years, now there’s a rumour of one, they now act

Most of what you see online is fake. Mostly ads disguised as articles. All tech "influencers" are paid advertisers pretending to review a product. For companies is much better because it's easier for metrics and cheaper. Before you had to pay a fortune to put an ad on TV. Now you pay around $3k for an "influencer" to "review" your product.

Who cares about copy the design. The fact Gemini especially Gemini live is insane and a million times better than Siri. My HomePod mini struggles simple questions. Gemini live is like speaking to a real person

Yeah you’re speaking to real ppl alright…Google employees, third party companies etc etc etc. smh

I’d take a million arrows to the head and one apple HomePod with a partially working speaker and NO Siri (never mind her recently and slowly improving self…) over purchasing just one of whatever it is Google is pilfering and peddling SMH

And after you catch the bat, you come see me in the Emergency Department for your rabies vaccine and immunoglobulin.

Do not do what Google Gemini tells you to do in this instance.

I mean Gemini is certainly better than Siri but it’s by no means “insane” or even good.

Looks nothing like a HomePod Mini or a Dot… and these comments about the big HomePod? It’s a cylinder, not a sphere, they look nothing like one another. And in any event, this is way more mushroom than anything. Like a small puffball mushroom.

I'm going to stick with Alexa. So far my experience has been Amazon's speakers last the longest. Had a Google Home [air fresher] and it stopped working after a year. Luckily I was able to get my money back b/c of the credit card I used. Bought Google minis and they stopped working. Bought three HomePod minis and two died. One would make a gargling sound. The Amazon speaks have all lasted and the only reason I don't have the originals is because I upgraded. Got two Echo Spot Clocks and still have the Echo Plus 2nd Gen that was released in 2018. I was thinking I might replace that with an Echo Dot Max.

I mean, if you want to talk to a hallucination machine that feeds you inaccurate information, be my guest. I’ll stick with my basic Siri commands and won’t need to worry about what’s being done with my data.

We’ve officially come to the point where major companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Google are copying Apple, at first it was lowkey, but this just screams “We are like Apple! Please buy us!”

Well, at least these work. HomePods have got to be the dumbest "smart" products on the market. You can't even ask Siri some basic music commands without hangups or it just straight up telling you it "can't do that." 😂
