Who cares about copy the design. The fact Gemini especially Gemini live is insane and a million times better than Siri. My HomePod mini struggles simple questions. Gemini live is like speaking to a real person
I have no issues talking to my HomePods. Sure as heck to not want an advertising company with an internet connected speaker in my house.

Apple needs to up their game. The HomePod feels like a dead weight when you have devices like this, you can actually interact and have AI conversations are useful.

Few months back, I was talking with Gemini about my cat. I asked Gemini if it has any. The answer was ”I have one and it’s name is Siri”! Later that day, I asked the same question again but Gemini answered differently.

Siri was the first ”Assistant ” and was better than Alexa or Google assistant a decade ago. Now it’s worse than the first version.

All speakers have to look like each other, so the coping apple claims are laughable. I have a HomePod mini and a nest mini speaker. The nest is much better as a smart speaker. Gemini/google assistant trounces Siri.

I tend to wonder what the functions of these devices it supposed to be. If they are intended to be music reproduction systems they are an abject failure as they all sound pretty awful, especially the Google and Amazon devices, along with the Apple Mini HomePod (note I did not include the HomePod as that is a very good speaker to use for listening to music).

However if they are a way of sending data to a company that wants to profile your behavior and desires so they can push advertising and product sales to you then they are probably quite successful. Apple made a decision to not collect personal data and not push advertising to you for the purpose of getting you to buy more stuff but to use the interaction to get access to your music and anything you kept on your systems and not to use your data in any way that would make available anything about you to the world in general. This ended up keeping Siri relatively dumb, which I am happy to live with for the sake of privacy. So we may criticize Siri but it is not sprinkling my input around the web and using it push adverting to me and for that I am thankful. Remember Google and Amazon live off your data and depend on selling your behavior and date to third parties, and I am not going to allow a device in my home whose entire purpose is to feed that monster.
