Yeah, I know. There's always this subset of people that- when faced with a tough punch to where they think Apple wants to go- tries to redirect the arguments into something else. The goto ones is to try to shift it into an argument of vs. Android, vs. Samsung, vs. Windows, vs. Google, vs. Adobe, etc.
I stand by what I wrote and I'm no Android, Samsung, Windows, Google, Adobe, etc fan. If this had been the Apple rollout of iRadio, I bet this thread would be packed with nearly opposite sentiment (the crowd would be gushing about the greatness of this new offering and the minority would be finding fault with some of the particulars... and getting thorough beatdowns for finding any such faults in an Apple creation). But it was Google rolling out iRadio before Apple could... so naturally it's "lame", stupid, "who wants streaming radio?", "why this vs. Spotify or Pandora?" and all the rest... right up until Apple rolls out the same and then it will transform into "Best innovation ever", "shut up and take my money", "cant' wait for streaming radio", and on and on.
I realize this is MacRumors and not GoogleRumors, so I can appreciate the crowd here is going to have a bias (as I do too- that's why I'm here) but it would be great if there could be a bit more objectivity in stuff like this. While I know some of us believe that only Apple can do anything, the reality is that there are innovative companies besides just Apple and we all win when any of them bring us anything good-to-great... even if they roll out something better than Apple's version of something (for example, those Google maps innovations do look great to me, especially against the latest Apple Maps innovation of mapping out Paris France the other day. Even if some of us won't switch back to Google Maps, such innovation put the heat under Apple to step it up in their work on Apple Maps).
As I wrote before, this is an excellent thread to remember and refer back to when Apple rolls out iRadio in the near future. It's the kind of thread that illustrates how easily opinions flip flop when the brand rolling out a service is Apple vs. anyone else. The contrast of how iRadio will make incredible sense but this Google iRadio makes little-to-none should be hilarious. I've been around long enough to see this play out over and over before. Here we go again.
