So embarrassing that Apple needs multiple outside help.
Just ... no.

Apple is, and has always been, a systems integrator.

macOS itself is a child of BSD Unix via Mach twiddling via NeXT.

All of the hardware that Apple sells... is manufactured by someone else.

The constant need of the toxic fandom to trash Apple is itself a reflection of the toxic online society we've built in the internet age.

theres so much cruft on devices now. so many things that overlap or really confuse users (from average tech users, novices, to technophiles) such Siri, Apple Intelligence, HomeKit/Home App. nothing integrates well or even at all in some cases.

I'd like to see iOS 19 declutter the noise and reduce all of this overhead and simplify the experience back. innovate in simplifying not opening every door and window to this crap.

With ChatGPT being added via an "extension", wouldn't Gemini support come as the same, or truly "built-in" that can't be removed? One must wonder, is Apple selling its soul?
There is no way Apple is going to send user data to Google by default without the user explicitly approving it. At least in 2025-26.

It's likely true.

At this point, I believe what other companies' CEOs say about what and when Apple will release more than what Tim Cook et al say what and when Apple will release.

So I’m presuming Apple would offer a setting/toggle to determine which AI model would be used (if at all) as default? And leave it blank/disabled until a user makes that choice? (A modification of what it is already doing for ChatGPT…

My only concern is that Google basically ignores user privacy preferences at every turn so there’s a real trade off between functionality and privacy with them. (IMO)

I have been increasingly thinking about switching to a Fairphone with e/OS as privacy becomes the top feature differentiator for me with all devices. If Apple isn't careful about these integrations, it would be an instant switch from iOS.

I think what we'll see in iOS 19.x: you can choose between different AI engines. That means ChatGPT, Grok, Meta AI, Gemini or whatever AI engine out there has "hooks" into iOS itself.

Just make it an API and let the AI companies do the hook. No need to have their names in the Settings app.

As long as it is an opt-in I don’t really care, just do not enable it by default. Google AI is just as bad as ChatGPT or Meta AI or anything like it.
If you want to use it, fine, you know what their real interest is: your data…

If it means integration with the iPhone 15 and below, then I’m all for it.
