While i jumped to Android after 7 years with Apple, few months ago. i've been using a Nexus 5 and was kind of looking forward to a not so expensive nexus device around the 4.95 screen size area. but this nexus 6 like has disappointed me.
Not every one like super giant phones. I thought Apple was wrong to ditch the 4 inchers, but Google has gone a step further by only offering a 6 inch device and nothing smaller. Plus i think Google is going the Apple way, set the $$$ high and people will run to it thinking its something really great.

They influence my decisions, and almost certainly push Apple to make continually better products.
This business that Apple somehow needs copycat competitors with their cheap me-too stuff is pretty silly. Apple doesn't need to innovate to beat backward competitors. They need to innovate fast to convince owners of expensive, awesome Apple devices that they need a better one. You see Apple doesn't make any real money on software subscriptions or adds, so even if they had no competitors they would still need to innovate to sell hardware.

This is markedly different from Google which requires no innovation to keep selling adds, as long as nobody makes a better service. That's why you don't see them innovating much in areas where they are ahead, like search or YouTube.

I think if Apple came out with a dedicated console it would sell like hotcakes however.

Eh, I'm not so sure about that. Apple doesn't have any mindshare with the hardcore gaming crowd. For them, they're just those people who make really expensive computers that doesn't run games nearly as well as a computer half the price. Unless Apple comes out with something mindblowingly big and awesome right out the gate, they'll be ignored by their intended audience.

Now they could release an Ouya type console that'll play mobile games on a TV. But an Apple TV could do that just as well as a secondary feature, so why make a new product just for games? Really, if that's the market they're going for, improving AirPlay and making a dedicated first party controller for the iDevices would be the best bet, and probably net them the best results.

Fast charging and longer battery life are what interest me most now. Barring a breakthrough in battery tech, the only way to increase time between charges is to reduce power consumption (tough to do) or make the battery larger. I'd like to see Apple address this with the next iPhone.

so its just fatter? how am i meant to hold it? with tongs?

Its wider and its a 2 handed device. For android users its not a big deal cause we're used to big displaysd. But for iPhone users who have just started to enjoy bigger screen and are used to 3.5 to 4 inch displays it could be cumbersome.

pricing is absolute joke on the phone and tablet.

If by joke you mean much better than Apple then you are correct.

I'm really looking forward to the Nexus 6, it's going to be awesome! My Nexus 4 is still going strong though so I can wait a little longer until the release. This will be a day 1 purchase for sure.

Dang I got excited when we went almost the whole day without a front page story. Too good to be true I guess. I still don't understand why we need front page stories on competitor products. If I want to know about the new Nexus products I can go to any number of tech sites and read all about them.

SHHH some of us like it.

I'm intrigued. I wonder if it has any of the Moto X features. Only one I care about really is active display.

better how ?

750$....LOL....nexus 5 looks better

Now... I have to REALLY wonder... will they really give us a Nexus 7 PHONE next year with a 7" screen??
And yes, the price is too much. Compared to my Nexus 5, I'll keep my 5 thanks, 6" phone is just far too big, for me that is, waaayyy overpriced for a Nexus device too.

As for the tablet.. it's interesting, I mean it's a nice design, great to see the Tegra K1 64 bit chip with the new 64 bit Android OS, great to see boomsound front speakers.

But not so great to see IMO this form factor, pricing, still no SD card slot.

Meh it's too big and in the UK will cost too much for a Nexus device, I'm still going to get a Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, better screen ratio for TV and films and You Tube etc.

I also have to say their just seems a tiny bit of iPad with this Nexus 9?

I think Google should have really made a new premium brand name for these devices, match the higher prices, it the Nexus 9 is say £390 in the UK, that's competing head on with the iPad Mini! VERY brave.

I seriously don't understand why EVERY tablet does not come with front-facing speakers. Extra points to the tablets that do.

It's so ridiculous to have to cup my hand under my (fill in the blank) tablet to get the sound coming toward me instead of the floor or table or other people.

Maybe because a lot of people use BT speakers or headphones when listening to their tablets. The speakers on all these tablets are so tiny that even with stereo speakers on the front they're useless outside unless it's totally quiet (and having them blaring with others nearby is just rude).

It's also a gaming device, letting users play Android games on their TVs with a game controller
This is exactly what I've been saying the Apple TV should have been for a long time (minus the Android).

its just my opinion ,

your welcome to pay the money for it , but it won't see the sales the 5 did , which i thought was a great price.

i think its a bad move on google to command a iPhone price , its not in there deck of cards.

they should be selling 400$ phones and sell a load of them.

the 5 was a compromised phone in a few ways - build quality, camera, battery.

this looks to be a true flagship that actually rivals the 6Plus. which says a lot, given that it's $649..

Wow!: "a 493 ppi AMOLED Quad HD display"!!! Superman will be very pleased!

What really drives Google is all those Mac Rumors posted on the Internet. It may feel as if they are ahead of Apple, but it's just a mediocre attempt to "innovate" based on whatever intelligence they can gather from others who are really innovating.
