While i jumped to Android after 7 years with Apple, few months ago. i've been using a Nexus 5 and was kind of looking forward to a not so expensive nexus device around the 4.95 screen size area. but this nexus 6 like has disappointed me.
Not every one like super giant phones. I thought Apple was wrong to ditch the 4 inchers, but Google has gone a step further by only offering a 6 inch device and nothing smaller. Plus i think Google is going the Apple way, set the $$$ high and people will run to it thinking its something really great.

You should have waited for the iPhone 6. I just LOVE my 6 and it's 4.7" screen. It really is the perfect size for a phone without being to unwieldy for most people (and I'd make 5" the max). Large handed people should be just fine with the 6+.

It is a tough sell on an Android tablet when I am using a Surface now at work. I really want a new Android tablet but my gut keeps telling me to go the Windows route.

I was hoping for Edward Snowdon to be the "Voice" in the video, as we often see Johnny Ive in such showcases. That would have been funny.

There is no way i'm going to buy this. Hopefully it goes against the nexus trend and devalues fast, maybe I will pick up a used one.

The Nexus 5 will still be sold alongside this, so there will still be a nexus at a lower price point. Hopefully they reduce the price of the nexus 5

Take a look at the new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact then, great premium specs in a small compact body that is smaller than the iPhone 6, but thicker obviously.

Its wider and its a 2 handed device. For android users its not a big deal cause we're used to big displaysd. But for iPhone users who have just started to enjoy bigger screen and are used to 3.5 to 4 inch displays it could be cumbersome.

With 5.5'' and 6'' huge devices coming up in market, somebody soon will have to reinvent the textiles industry! Who knows, next iPhone 7 or Nexus might come with a size compatible denims :D

An update to this model would ave been the sensible thing to do, if they were going to keep this size.
Clearly though, they have a lot of last years old stock.

Fast charging and longer battery life are what interest me most now. Barring a breakthrough in battery tech, the only way to increase time between charges is to reduce power consumption (tough to do) or make the battery larger. I'd like to see Apple address this with the next iPhone.

They may not as long as you have manufacturers making battery cases like Mophie and iBattz. Maybe they make the phones thinner and lighter for this purpose. I just bought a portable battery pack and it's a beast at 12000 mAh. It is a heavy pack, but slightly bigger and thicker than the iPhone 6. I am waiting for the new Mophie and iBattz to see which is thinner and offers the best for charging my 6.

the iPhone 6 plus is already too big, 6" is ridiculous

I have an iphone 6 plus and the bezels are massive. Since the nexus 6 has no physical front screen buttons the bezels are so small and should be just around the same size as the 6 plus, but with more screen and less blank space.

Despite not being a true 'Mac' rumor, I'm grateful for the occasional tidbit on Apple's direct competitors. They influence my decisions, and almost certainly push Apple to make continually better products.

Which is, of course, why they make their announcements the day before. So they let Apple go first and then schedule theirs right before that. Yawn.

Nexus tablets used to provide a good value at $200 price point. At $400 for 16gb device, they are trying to push into a different market. They shouldn't kill the $200 devices; I loved the pure android experience for $200 on the nexus 7.

Solution: Cargo pants.

Nexus 6 is pretty nice... although there is no longer the price point advantage going for it... the tablet is also nice too... really nice, but the new iPads will edge it just a bit IMO in hardware and design and battery life

-20nm A8X with 2GB of RAM and a new 8 megapixel camera that could be close to the 5S camera is amazing...plus new laminated display and rumors that resolution is going up evn higher on the new iPad's...Quad HD display on the Air 2??
