That looks like sleight of hand trick. The phone on top with picture is off to the side and the phone on the bottom being unlocked is pointing at his face. Redo it without pointing at face.
Admittedly I've never used FaceID or facial recognition on Android. But having owned an iPhone 5S and several Android phones with fingerprint unlocking, its hard to imagine FaceID being that much more seamless. On my current phone I just have to lightly brush my thumb against the scanner as I take it out of my pocket and its unlocked by the time its out of my pocket.
One example where Face ID can be more seamless is when you are auto-filling passwords. With Touch ID, you need to physically authenticate with your finger. With Face ID, you don’t need to do anything except continue looking at your phone.
Or being able to use “hey Siri” from the lock screen without having to unlock it because it is already unlocked the moment you looked at it.
So it might take a split second more, but it actually results in fewer actions overall. Multiply this by that many times you do this in a day, and that’s quite a lot of steps saved.
Or unrelated people of Asian origin. Anyhow whilst I don’t believe it’s we infallible as people are claiming I do believe it’s more secure than the FPS. Yet having said that that the FPS is secure enough and that’s what matters.
well it takes a facial structure map unlike the photo compare method that samsung has been pawning off as ALSO face recognition. They did 3D face mask tests to fool the phones and it fooled a lot of the android face check implementations for that reason but couldn't get through faceId
