Love how people have opinions on which pictures look better.

I wonder how many of you have calibrated monitors that are actually showing the correct colors in order for you take make such a determination?

it is most amazing to me that there are people out there that choose to buy Google products...

There are oceans of people out there who just want to use a product and do not understand whats going in the background, but for those more informed.... we should be doing more awareness in society.

Google products are great, its just that their business model is unethical IMO. I am not willing to pay with my life info.

Given the pixel sales numbers people generally aren’t buying them...

The camera bundle looks a lot like another phone recently released, is samsung going to do it next?
Are you referring to the Mate 20 phone that was released a few years ago or the iPhone that was releases a few months ago?

The human eye cannot see 90 Hz. I don't understand the push for increased refresh rate. No harm but who can tell the difference?
Are you kidding! Pick up a 90 Hz (OnePlus) and come back to me

Google has strategically placed products where they can mine data from every aspect of a person's life. They started with Search - we want to know what users are thinking about, then Gmail - we want to user's personal life, Maps - we want to know where users go, bought Android OS - we want to know users better than they know themselves.

Users have given authority to Google to feed you the right information through Search, News Feeds, and Assistant, for example information about what to eat, where to eat, when to do a particular activity etc. Next step is give them authority to find your future spouse. Critical thought process then has left the room, we are only following what is fed to us. And the final step is to tell to who to vote for, that then is the end of democracy. Yeah, give Google, Facebook etc. all companies answerable to only to the advertising industry, full authority of one's life, it's a slippery slope as recent past shows.

But yeah, they create fine phones.
So what your saying is they help you make informed decisions

What's your point? People have been listening to what you say to Siri this whole time without you knowing it. Is that supposed to be better? Doesn't sound like doubling down on privacy to me. At least those other companies are more transparent.

You also seemed missed the point of my reply which is Google HAS made good things and aren't just good data mining. I'm also not telling anybody to use or not use their products you can make that choice knowing they use your data but they do make some good products.

I also never said this was a good phone either. Seems like the only good thing about it is the 90hz refresh rate display, and what seems to be super fast face unlock though not sure how it stacks up security wise.

No ultra wide angle camera in 2019 from a company that had one of the best smart phone cameras the last few years? Odd and disappointing.

I have no interest in the Pixel 4 now and think the new iphones are better devices as well as other android phones. Even as someone who doesn't take a lot of photos, an ultra wide camera just seems like a must these days.

But to come in and post Google is only good at data mining is just narrow minded and simply incorrect.

Google and Apple also push each other to make better products and software. I'm all for that. As a consumer, I win in that competition.

Google is making the right moves with Nest but it’s too late for the Nest Home rebranding. I went deep into the DropCam and Nest ecosystems long before Google acquired them so I have a lot of Nest products. I kept them around, hoping that Google would eventually play nice with HomeKit but it never came.

The final kick in the pants was when Nest started charging exorbitant prices just to make the cameras useful — and charged per each camera, not per account. You’ll end up paying $30/month if you have a few cameras around your home. Yeah, no.... They’re changing the pricing now, after years of dropping subscriptions but it’s too late. HomeKit’s Secure Video iCloud storage with end to end encryption kills any chance that I’ll pay for camera storage ever again. Getting rid of all my DropCams/NestCams.

Which brand of surveillance cam are you switching to? I've researched most of the offerings, including the self-archiving closed circuit systems, and Nest's premium cam appears to have the best optics, best recording, and false alerts prevention. Personally, I rather not be bothered with notifications of passing deer and cars all day than worry that it doesn't fit neatly into the Homekit ecology.

There aren’t any Secure Video compatible cameras yet, though several brands have announced theirs by the end of the year. I’m guessing they’ll want to have them ready before the Holiday shopping season which begins very soon.

From the presentation, it sounded like Apple would be handling the recognition. Given Apple’s advancement in machine learning built right into iOS, I‘ll be happy to let Apple do that. I really do feel uneasy about even Nest uploading and storing all my recordings taken in my home. I’ll trust Apple over anyone with preserving my privacy.

lol no, android has high sales with low budget phones. The flagships? Apple destroys the comp in sales. It’s not even close
What does an iPhone do that no other phone can do? Siri, trash Apple Maps, trash iCloud trash, 5 GB of storage trash customization trash, pages keynote and numbers trash need I go on? Looks like you pay more $$ and get less to me

You can go on all you like. Properly need to head over to android central forums which seems to be where you need to talk phones

If you don’t know what iPhones are about by now you have no hope

There’s a reason everybody buys them

Ecosystem
Support
Great apps that get developed
Syncs with your devices
Great performance
Consistent updates every year
Great cameras
Great video recording

The list is endless really but dependable, performance and support is priceless something android can’t deliver on a long term basics and why people keep coming back

iPhone/Apple Watch and iPad combo are something android can not complete with

However if you enjoy android do so...bit it’s not hard to understand why people buy iPhones

As serious as Apple with that notch, Siri and Apple Maps. Apple should stick to music
Ha ha, good one :)

Well said my friend. Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Keep, Google Voice, Gmail, Google Drive are all tops in my book. I use and love Android just for their stock apps. I bought a Huawei Mate SE for $199 new on Amazon it does everything I need and more. It even came with a free clear silicone gel case that hasn't yellowed in close to 2 years. It also has a built in FM radio and the sound DAC is incredible paired with the Aukey B80 wireless earphones.

The iPhone 11 Pro received the same "Based on our extensive Lab Tests and Measurements the iPhone 11 Pro Max receives our DisplayMate Best Smartphone Display Award earning DisplayMate’s highest ever A+ grade by providing considerably better display performance than other competing Smartphones."

What's your point, beyond subtly trolling?
Simply correcting a forum member and quoting Displaymate.

My comment regarding the acceptance of Displaymate's results are backed up by forum history.
They're praised when they favor Apple, and brushed aside and deemed flawed when they don't.
That isn't trolling, just stating facts.

Does the Pixel have uneven and large bezels relative to the iPhone or not?
Absolutely it does, Blind Freddy can see that. It sounds like you're saying uniformity is the pinnacle of design then? The notch breaks that uniformity so that argument is a non-starter.

Everyone's a Jony Ive wannabe here. There is more to design than aesthetics.

It looks a hell of a lot better than the Pixel.

So let's recap:
1. the camera on the Pixel 4 is lightyears ahead of the one on the iPhone.
2. The display is as well.
3. FaceID on Pixel is instant.
...and somehow, people here still find ways lie to themselves that the iphone's better. Amazing!

1. How is it lightyears ahead? or was that a pun?
2 DisplayMate has rated the iphone as the best ever tested in terms of accuracy
3 FaceID isn't instant iPhone?

if anything the iPhone is just overpriced, every year the lightyears ahead android phone I test can't even do a smooth pinch and zoom on a photo smoothly

It doesnt look nice, but it still looks nicer than what apple did

Apple gave you a little more screen space to tuck some data into. time, wifi, battery, location. Would you be happier if that area didn't exist and those items were at the top of the screen?

That pixelbook pricing is crazy. The whole appeal of a Chromebook is something you won't be too sad if it goes missing, is stolen, or breaks. Full size laptop prices for a glorified web terminal? No.
Not too crazy when you consider the chipset in the device. This is not an ARM processor. BTW, you can run Linux Apps natively within ChromeOS now. This doubles as one of the best Linux laptops.

It's funny how Fandroids accused the iPhone of not being innovative or just being a repeat of last years, and yet they'll still claim this is the fastest phone with the best camera system based off what the on-paper specs show. And yet, this phone is using what will soon be last years processor, a telephoto camera instead of an ultra-wide, can't even record at 4K, and has a smaller battery than last year's. I'm so ready to see this phone fail, and hope Google will get the memo that they're a better software & services company than a hardware company.
