At least we will be able to set an alternative assistant here in the EU, and replace that Siri crap by something that works.
The crease is barely noticeable on this compared to pretty much every other fold out there. It would be very difficult to eliminate the crease altogether on a foldable device. This is certainly a step in the right direction and honestly I never really notice the crease on my ZF4. It pretty much disappears like the notch does.
I know, I'm just nagging about the phone trend.
Seems cool. Definitely niche. I wonder how resilient it is in person, and how that screen actually looks in reality (e.g., the crease). I'm fine dropping $1200ish/yr on a new iPhone but ~$2k (after tax) would push me out of that cycle, which would mean a drop in annualized revenue. I wonder where that break is — where people forego an annual device cycle because of price at different breakpoints. I'm sure the data is out there. Anyway ... it's cool but still waiting for someone to make a foldable that's irresistible.

No silly, it's just as easy to RAISE laptop prices too.
Bonus: Fans will rationalize it to shocked others with words like "inflation", "supply chain", "covid" and "other." Such words can apparently rationalize ANY price for anything.
"We" just did that with ASD. Apple was able to remove the whole computer + keyboard + mouse and sell us what remained of an iMac 27" for the same "starting at..." price of the former iMac 27. Not only did we buy with great enthusiasm... but we did so against absolute front-facing camera issues AND also jump in thread after thread pushing others to buy it- and only it- too.
Personally, I expect rumored MBair 15" to be rolled out at a surprisingly HIGH price... as in " why not just buy a MBpro?" pricing territory. It will make no logical sense relative to the MBpro... until the next MBpros are launched at relatively higher prices too.
Right now, there is Mac Mini configs seemingly in conflict with Mac Studio configs. I expect resolution to that "problem" to be handled in the same way (meaning higher Mac Studio pricing in the next round).
Probably just like the useless monkey island on top of the iPhone.
Envious of you guys. iOS/iPadOS sideloading might be an EU only also.

The three people interested in the product are worried about the $1800 spend, but once Google inevitably discontinues it, the price will come crashing down.
Don't laugh when you crack the iPad and iPhone screens juggling and dropping both. One device that does the function of both is easier to handle.

For example, the stuff people do on iPads like use Procreate would feel like a giant 💩 with the crease in the middle.
No artist wants to run a pen or finger over a crease.
Even the Google IO Keynote itself became better than Apples Keynotes.

Nobody is replacing their 9-12" ipad with a foldable phone.
It's like the weird badly designed **** that came out in the mid 2000s but with a modernish processor.

Agreed! Apple transitions are cool and they do a good job but at times it gives me motion sickness.
Not yet, it’s still to thick for many potential customers.
Even the NFL camera showed up for that presentation…
