I’m not totally against a foldable, but… with this pricing, it makes absolutely no sense.
You can literally buy an iPhone 14 pro, an iPad Mini and a small tablet bag to carry them both in… and still be $300 plus away from the pixel fold.
To me that’s just a better deal in every way.

Don't laugh when you crack the iPad and iPhone screens juggling and dropping both. One device that does the function of both is easier to handle.

I mean, that's a nice fantasy, but no foldable phone so far has been shown to "do the function of both". Yes, we'd all love to ignore the laws of physics and have an iPad mini that you fold in half to be like a phone. Instead, what you get is a phone that's much thicker, more awkward to handle, less reliable, and pricy. Enjoy!

If you could convince me that the combined solution is every bit as good as both an iPad and an iPhone, I *might* see a scenario where the extra scratch is worth only having to carry one device. But the 2-1 situation with PC laptops has me skeptical that it'll be the case.

Kind of a dumb question, but is it possible to own one of these things and minimize your exposure to the Google ecosystem? I know lots of people run Android without Google at all...

The people complaining about the price are hilarious. Ever heard of carrier deals? If I trade in a cheap $100 used android device purchased from Swappa I’ll get $1000 in credit from AT&T or Verizon. If I upgrade in 18 months I’ll end up paying $400 to use the GPF.

Why would I be juggling both an iPhone and an iPad?
Also… not exactly smart to bring up the durability of devices in a thread about foldable‘s. They are literally less durable than both an iPhone and an iPad By design.
Oh and… the screens on the pixel fold and the galaxy fold are both smaller than literally any iPad that exists or has ever existed. People aren’t replacing their 12.9 inch iPad Pro’s with a 7.6 inch tablet, they just aren’t. Even the iPad mini is still a good bit bigger.

Not a bad idea but those bezels make it look very 1st gen and starting at 1,900€ is just too much. You can get an iPhone and iPad for that. Actually I have never seen a pixel device out in the wild here. Anyway, it’s good to have competition.

Software looks great though. I’d take an iPhone with Android mode

I am not sure I can convince you, but I sold my iPhone 12 Pro Max and gave my wife my iPad mini after I bought the Z Fold 3, and I've never regretted it once. I would also never go back to using two separate devices when I can have both in one device. I now have the Z Fold 4 and soon the Pixel Fold. I owned every iPhone from the 4 to the 12 PM so I'm not some android fanboy either.

256GB iPad Mini w/ Cellular is $799 + iPhone Pro 256GB is $1099 which = $1898 so...
Why would you need a cellular iPad if you’re already carrying a cellular phone?
We are literally comparing carrying both at the same time to a folding device, if you’re carrying both, you don’t need a cellular plan on both.

Please no, I hate the trend of phone going into $2000... I just need a phone to message, GPS and lookup. Nothing else and stop adding things for entertainment purposes I don't need!

I don't play games on phone, stop making more powerful to drain battery.
I don't watch movies on phone, stop making big phone.
I don't take photography with my phone, stop making it so expensive and huge camera bump.
Stop stop stop!
I can agree with you on the price aspect but they don't make phones just for you, it sounds like you don't need a smartphone, you need a dumb phone of some flip screen device out of the early 2000s. Personally I use my phone and its camera,
