Hold up!

Siri is the worst.

AAPL just asked me for my opinion of AAPL Music. Naturally, I detailed my opinion.

I shared that the only reason I subbed to AAPL Music was to prove the point to a friend that "Hey Siri? Play XYZ" was *only* effective when I was subbed to AAPL Music.

When I was un-subbed, Siri replied "I'm sorry: I can't find that in your Library."

When I was subbed, virtually everything I ask to be played was played.

After I un-subbed, Siri replied "I'm sorry: I can't find that in your Library."

I don't blame Siri; I just found that AAPL is "subscriptionally" (new word for '25) complicit in the lock-in to their subscription services to provide cogent, contextual content.

A brief "I'm sorry, but I can't satisfy that query unless you subscribe to our Service" comment would have satisfied my yearning.

They are not best friends anymore. They are arch enemies 🤣 😂 , like they have always been.

True. I wonder why Apple doesn't make such ads? Maybe because they want to show they are just "adults" and not "children" throwing a tantrum.

Hi, i'm a mac.

I, for one, do appreciate a good advertising 'burn', much like the Twitter feuds between fast food restaurants, and
Google put a good burn on Apple this time.

I hope the lads at the Cupertino Wheel of Fortune do appreciate this excellent advertising burn. 😁

I confess that I did have a pretty good laugh at the expense of Apple.

Apple might be late to certain features but EVERYONE else is somewhat copying Apple's designs.
Samsung made fun of the iPhone without the obsolete headphone jack and later on they did it too.
Every smart watch knock-off is square, not round like Samsung's.
I agree with the fact that Apple needs to innovate more but they managed to do something no-one else could:
They turned the iPhone into a status symbol and nobody else can compete with that.
Ipad outsell tablets, Apple Watch outsells samsung's and Chinese smartwatches, AirPods outsell Premium brands like Sony, Bose, etc....
People want Apple products and will pay more money or put up with shortcomings but nobody can touch the status this products give you.

Here's what I don't see anybody really talking about....

The problems with Siri have nothing to do with AI. The problems with Siri have to do with the fact that the functionality is so far behind the competition. You can use even a budget Android phone costing only a few hundred dollars and the Google Assistant is 5 to 10 years ahead of Siri. *That* is what needs fixed.

This was actually a well done ad. So many companies are cringey when coming after Apple. They did this in a really classy and understated way. Dare I say this ad was almost Apple-like, including in the way that Apple used to take down Microsoft back in the day? They don't have to name names to be effective.

Google is still evil though and will eat your privacy for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an inherently less secure operating system to boot. But at least their AI is better, lmao.

Apple just needs to buy someone like Anthropic for Claude and move forward from there. They need to open up their war chest against Zuck or they're going to miss the moment entirely and we'll all be doomed to having zero privacy because let's be honest, Apple is the only company that even gives a crap at this point about your data belonging to you and nobody else.

Developing AI is obviously a lot more expeditious when you don't have to care about customer privacy. As a core part of the surveillance economy, it makes sense that Google can just put the vacuum cleaner in turbo mode and Hoover up anything and everything for their LLMs.
Thinking Apple actually cares about your privacy is a joke. Ask the citizens of China how much Apple cares.

clearly Google is forgetting history of… Just two years ago?
just saying, every AI company has had to delay things at this point.
Microsoft recall was supposed to launch in June 2024, it’s August 2025 and it still hasn’t quite launched correctly. It launched, just not the way they wanted.
Google actually had Bard before ChatGPT.

Marketing War … I have a few AI on my phone already and most and foreall I have the best intelligence at disposal to use it , mine …

Damn straight. If I weren't too involved in the apple ecosystem I would have switched a long time ago. They've really gone down hill after Jobs.

Solid burn Google. That being said Apple intelligence was never a selling point for me. Nor is Gemini or anything made by google.

FALSE! We just got word from Tim Cook, "I have never felt so much excitement and so much energy before as right now. The product pipeline, which I can’t talk about: It’s amazing, guys. It’s amazing. Some of it you’ll see soon, some of it will come later, but there’s a lot to see.

Stay tuned for the BEST, MOST POWERFUL, MOST CAPABLE products that Apple has EVER produced!
Please don’t tell me Cook and Trump have had a love child

They sold a lot of iPhones 16 with the promise of Apple Intelligence. They lied. They owe all those customers something big, I would say that Apple will lose at least $350 per US customer due to lawsuits.
I see you got a downvote. He's cheering apple that lied to everyone about apple intelligence. Honestly it really depends on what Google has with the next Pixel and version of android. I'm excited to see. With Apple and iphone 17? Zero excitement because Apple is stumbling around with nothing and wondering if it should buy an AI company.

That is how they _used_ to work. But they've missed the mark a few time, which doesn't mean they're dead or gone or bad, but there is some trouble there in adapting to new technology.

I've been iPhone only since they were first introduced. I started carrying both a Pixel 9 Pro XL and my iPhone 16 PM b/c Siri is so useless and Gemini, is frankly, pretty amazing now (after some rough starts). Replaced the Pixel 9 Pro XL with the Fold 7 last week, and, daaaamn, I'm not sure if I'll keep carrying the iPhone until they catch up (which seems to be at least a year away, assuming there are zero more innovations on the Android side).

I love Apple, but at what point does "we aren't first, we're the best" turn into "we aren't first, we talk about being the best, and fail to deliver on it". They aren't dead. They'll figure it out eventually, but Siri has been terrible/behind the curve for a good 2yrs now...I'm not inclined to wait for another.
This AI thing, what are you using Gemini to achieve, that the OS doesn’t do natively?

There are AI features on iPhone such as Maui sort and rewriting but I don’t find them to be relevant to my needs. Occasionally I use ChatGPT, once every 14 days maybe, to answer a question or provide a framework.
Xcode has ChatGPT in for coding help which is very useful for work.

Maybe it has been an embarrassment for employees of Apple, but for me, as someone who bought a 16 Pro Max after those announcements, but certainly not because of those announcements, it has honestly not been something that I have cared about a lot (if at all). I, as a mere iPhone user, have nothing at all to be embarrassed about. That said, for those who do care about those features, that is a really good ad.

Yeah I don't disagree with you. My wife doesn't care at all about AI or any of the features and loves her phone. I still love my 16 Pro Max, but also see where Apple is severely lagging behind other companies and how Apple's integration of AI is a total mess right now.
