Whereas other smartphone makers, including Google, try very hard, so far they have not managed to match Apple’s attention to detail and elegance, IMO.

Yes, the specs can all be looking great and hardware can check all the boxes, yet Android in its many flavours and manufacturers’ skins put on top of it still looks rather primitive. It is getting the job done, of course, but it is not quite as enjoyable to use as Apple’s integrated software-hardware offerings.

Rather convenient for Apple that that only works with other Apple devices.
Well yeah it was Apple's invention. Samsung has something similar, but not nearly as good...

on another note...I like that ad it was funny though I do wish Google replied with better "features" than the ones mentioned in the ad. Come on...Unblurring photos is a huge hit and miss they could have at least went with their removing items. Answering calls with AI? I don't know about others, but if there is a call I miss then visual voicemail does perfect to see at a glance if I need to call back...I bet it killed them not to mention bard 😂

When is somebody going to corner these marketing grads and shake them awake? Watch Apple's ads and then look at this one (and the endless Samsung ads) and honestly answer the question: which one seems confident and which one comes off like a defensive and cringy little brother? Obviously everybody's not an Apple Fan, and not everybody prefers Apple's products... but there's over a decade of now of Apple adverts that highlight the products and their design/philosophy. And on the flipside, dozens of Samsung and Google ads pointing out all the superfluous "check box" features that iPhone doesn't have, and in all likelihood will be dropped from the next Galaxy too. Remember back in 2014, when everybody was bumping playlists to strangers on the street? Well, neither do I but Samsung sure was selling that snake oil.

The irony is that even this marketing style is kinda sorta cribbed from Apple too, from the Mac Vs PC ads. Which I didn't find persuasive back in the day either, but hey at least they had Justin Long and John Hodgeman.

It's not that serious lol. Some of you fanboys need to touch some grass.

The Pixel's are probably the only Android devices that are worth having at the moment.

Good to see adverts poking fun at competitors too, but done in such a way that's actually funny and in good taste - take note Samsung.
I don't know. I've read many reviewers saying that Samsung devices are better and Samsung devices get software updates for longer. Is there any truth to that? I don't know. Also, there are many Android phones trying to make it. Sony phones seem great, but their software support is questionable. Nord phones are great. Motorola phones are awful.

100% agree. I switched to a Samsung Galaxy phone a few years back to give it a try. At that time, it blew the iPhone camera away, especially in low-light situations. However, ironically enough, the camera app crashed around 50% of the time, and I had to restart the phone. By the time the app launched, the moment was gone.... No sense having an amazing camera if you can't use it. Returned it 6 months later and switched back to iPhone.

I tried the Android ecosystem many years ago and gave up and then went with Apple. It would be too painful changing as I rely heavily on Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts and seamlessness between macOS and mobile operating systems.
What do you mean? I've used Android and Windows PC and everything worked and synced seamlessly. Especially notes and reminders and calendars and contacts. It worked pretty well. Also, I still think that One Note is way better than Apple's Notes. I wish Apple would bring couple new features to the Notes app.

I actually don’t hate these Google ads, but they would be so much better with actual voice actors.
The thing about Mac vs PC was that even if you didn’t care one bit about the computers, the guys were just funny to watch.
These aren’t funny enough and the robot voices are so distracting that it makes me want to never see it again.

Totally agree! I didn’t like the Mac vs PC ads. This mocking style of ad from google is just as bad.

From any company, I want to see how good your product is. Mocking the competition seems so middle school.

I'm tempted to try a pixel phone for a while but I'm already invested in Apple (Watch, AirPod Pro) and a lot of my family are iPhone. The AI and photo tech look good. being able to ditch WhatsApp and move to RCS (which Apple is ignoring) would be good.

I don’t understand these commercials. So you had USB-C first? So what? Show me why I should buy your phone Google, convince me to spend my money!!! This approach isn’t working.
Agreed! Which car had the first two speed windshield wiper? Which car was the first to have LED taillights? Right, who cares. What I care about is who has the better product.

these ads are rather disingenuous.

Whereas it's true that some features Apple finally adopt have been commonplace on Android phones for a while.... SOME...

... there are others that are firsts for Apple and then Android copies THEM. Swings and Roundabouts frankly and also id go so far as to remind you that Samsung often mock new things in adverts but then just go ahead and copy them anyway. The loss of the headphone jack for one... and the notch for another.

But its telling that Apple dont feel the need to create ads that specifically mock other brands so blatantly when they have something the others do not.

Samsung devices are full of bloatware, at least with Pixel devices you're pretty much getting Android and the Google apps / service integration.

Samsung promise five years of security updates for all handsets post 2020, but doubt you'll get feature updates beyond a couple of years, maybe longer for flagships.

Sony seem to have dropped the ball in the phone market, they're almost irrelevant. I really liked some of the handsets they've put out in the past, but I'll admit I've hardly looked at any of the recent ones.

Smart ad. I’m kinda surprised they released this before USB-C on iPhone was even officially announced though. What about the 1% chance the iPhone doesn’t actually update to USB-C? Google being this bold about it is more confirmation it’s actually happening than the leaks are. I’m guessing Google has insider knowledge.

Apple could mock Google but they wont do it because they are more mature than samsung and google..mock about not even after a decade of usbC they still dont offer thunderbolt...and Apple from the start goes all in on the Pro models

Apple is way too overpriced, and late to many things. I can't deny that, and I'm pissed about that.

Now let's imagine I would buy into Google's ecosystem:

- I'm soooo glad I'll get the new Pixel with my Google Pixel Pass ! ... Wait.

Well sure, why exactly would they open up this feature to competitors? Doesn't make any sense.
Exactly.

I get a chuckle when comments from the tech heavy crowd reflect little or no business sense. Most (not all) of the techie crowd have very little experience making business decisions for an operation not very small, let alone a large business or a global one. Some of the stuff I read here said by generally intelligent people amazes me. They think in one perspective - theirs!
