I installed the stable version. Some of the plugins I use (felicious and Ultimate Chrome Flag so far) did not work at all after the update. I had to reinstall them and they work fine now.

As for the "Google has all my info" comments. I am sure they do, regardless of what browser we use. This I guess makes it easier for them to get it, and I am ok with that with what I use Chrome for. I use it to do google searches for research. They kinda already know what I am doing. ;)

Just updated. I've had no issues with Chrome whatsoever for weeks so I guess the time is right to come out of beta.

I'm also sticking with Safari. I've used Chrome on Windows and prefer Firefox there. But good luck to Google, at least they keep pushing Apple and Mozilla to innovate and streamline.

It is on my computer but seldom used.

For my uses on the Mac

1. Safari
2. Firefox
3. Chrome a distant third.

On my Windows machine at work.

1. Firefox
2. Chrome (Close 2nd)
3. Internet Explorer (Only for a particular site I must use that only works with IE and CITRIX)

Wow, I forgot how many ads there were out there without AdBlock and NoScript.

Chome, it's been a good two minutes.

And no, Chome is distributed on a DMG and you just drag the app into the Applications folder. From what I can tell, updating must be contained in the app.

So install both of those extensions. Extensions install themselves on your other browsers?

Citrix really doesn't seem to like Chrome or any other browser besides IE.

Weird. Thought i was the only one having that issue haha.

Chrome over took firefox for me on PC. Rendering is really blazing.

I hate safari's triple click feature and the fact that it takes longer to load up than firefox does. I rarely if at all use safari on my Macbook.

I'm gonna stick with Firefox. Works like a charm on my MBP

I used to prefer Firefox over Safari, but on my iMac Firefox has caused some monster crashes. It's not as awful as Safari, and it had extensions so I kept using it, but now with Chrome supporting extensions, there's no reason anymore for me to use Firefox.

I avoid them at all costs. I truly believe that every keystroke, every web site, every action on my computer (especially with Chrome) is being monitored by Google. Yes, it is probably being used for targeted ads....but I just don't like it.

You do realise that Safari runs everything to google analytics too?

When I first got little snitch I blocked google and oddly Safari stopped working..

Safari + Glims + Click2Flash = no need for Chrome

I don't have any major issues with Safari. I've actually started using it on my (gaming) PC as well because of the bookmark sync feature of MobileMe.

The only thing I'd like to see in Safari would be a way to view headers for pages in real time. Essentially like the "Live HTTP Headers" plugin on Firefox. I don't do much web development, but when helping one of our web devs debug an issue that would be quite handy. The built in Web Inspector console does essentially everything I (and our devs) need, with exception of being able to view HTTP headers as they come in and go out. For now we just load up Firefox whenever we need to see them.

Of course if there's a way to do that in Safari please let me know! :)

Why would you stick with one of the worst browsers around?

I'll be using the far superior Firefox and Chrome. Thanks Google. This is one happy Mac user today.

I think Firefox is past it's prime. it used to be good, now it just seems to get slower with every update they release/

There's an extension called "Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer" that will open PDFs in OS X. I use it, but I do think that Safari's method of handling this is superior. With that said, Chrome has been my default browser on both OS X and Windows for many months now. It just blows away Safari and Firefox, in my opinion.

I have to say, I too am now using Chrome on both my Acer NetBook (Windows XP) and my MBP...in my experience, it is faster than both FF and S4...

Looks like the stable release is the last beta that was already available.

I've been using Chrome for a week or two, and for the most part I like it a lot. I tend to prefer Webkit to Gecko, but I'm unwilling to go without certain extensions - and Chrome now offers them! I will note the lack of an inline PDF solution is a bit of a pain for work (the Google Docs "solution" doesn't work for PDFs that require authentication to retrieve).

This is the first time I've tried a browser other than Firefox and been able to stick with it for more than a couple days.

Can anyone tell me if Chrome installs the backdoor google updater like Google Earth does?

If you go to "About Chrome", there's an option to install it for all users. Since I run as a non-admin for day to day stuff, it couldn't install it behind my back.

Wow, I forgot how many ads there were out there without AdBlock and NoScript.

Chome, it's been a good two minutes.

There's a few ad blocking extensions available for Chrome.

Safari + Glims + Click2Flash = no need for Chrome

The equivalent of Click2Flash is available for Chrome.

At least in the computer market, apple is still a tiny fraction of the market share. Sometimes it doesn't make sense for companies to cater to less than 10% of the market, much of the reason I stick with PCs.

I'm also finding all this google conspiracy stuff a little funny. Of course they take your info for ad purposes, everyone does! Every website you visit puts stuff on your computer and tracks information you give them unless you take necessary steps to stop it. Google just happens to be the best at doing it. Frankly, if i'm going to be bombarded with ads anyways, I'd rather get something out of it and have ads from products and services that I actually want to buy.

On another note, I wonder how many people here complaining about google have a facebook. They're much worse with the privacy of people.

Chrome is the up and coming browser all-star. I'm happy to see it come out of beta on the Mac!

Can anyone tell me if Chrome installs the backdoor google updater like Google Earth does?

Probably does, though I have no knowledge. It's the standard practice of Google. You steal ideas through the back door. If you can't open the door, you purchase the building. Or better steal innovation from being on someones Board, then screw the trust established. Google will become too large, and eventually become the Microsoft of a decade ago. I trust Microsoft more than Google these days. You can only copy for so long till the ink runs out. I look forward to that day with immense pleasure.

I'll stick with Firefox until Sarfi 5 (WWDC?). I would not trust Google to walk my dog. :apple:
